Most colleges that I have been too have a strict no weapon policy, and possession of one is grounds for automatic suspension, even pepper spray...
Me personally.... I do not think that allowing students to have guns on campus is a good idea... it could lead to a lot more harm than good. especialy if some one who is scared shoots acedentally... or if the attacker ends up getting the weapon away they can threaten the person even more.

LOL uh NO.
Guns shouldn't be allowed anywhere accept for shooting ranges or held by police officers. I'm for strict gun control myself.

I don't believe guns should be allowed anywhere. I think if there were no guns, there would be a lot more people living. The only other way you could kill someone would be to pelt them with rocks or stab them, and you can see that coming. I mean, yeah, a knife is a big deal, but a bullet travels EXTREMELY FAST, and you can't stop a bullet the way you can stop yourself from stabbing someone or beating them to death with a stick. In any case, I'd be seriously scared if people could carry guns around in a public facility. That's just insane. Some people shouldn't have guns. Then one could say, "well, only certain people should be able to have them, like those that are physically able." One, that wouldn't be fair to those who aren't "mentally able", and two, when having guns was illegal, people would insist on carrying them around. So it really wouldn't matter either way.
Honestly, why have guns when you can have state-of-the-art security? Sure, it might be a little more expensive--okay, a lot more--but when you're in a college full of people, you don't know when the next Columbine could happen. People having guns definitely wouldn't ease my fear of people shooting me; that'd make it worse. e we;;

I go to a fairly small school so I see no reason for guns to be allowed on campus because there is seemingly less of a threat. Even for larger, possibly more threatening campuses I fail to see the reason to bring a weapon to school. :|

Guns are the cause of the campus shootings. It won't make the campus safer, it'll make it more dangerous. Teenagers tend to be reckless and if they were to get "high" on drugs, we'll have a major problem if they had a weapon also.

I live in Australia so know, that's kinda illegal. My opinion on weapons in general is it should be illegal for non military people to be carrying weapons.

No.
Hell no.
Okay, I haven't read that article, but i do not think that there are gonna be good things that would be happening when college students bring guns..
But I am quite sure that it would make the campus dangerous. Really really dangerous..

Yeah.... Um, the crazy ones are ALREADY going to go and get a gun and bring it to campus. All that this means is that when they do, someone else can shoot them BEFORE the mass murder.
Seriously. The campus shootings are already happening--and, sad to say, are probably going to continue. :( At least this way, the rest of the college could defend themselves. (One-on-one self defense is NOT going to do you any good when your attacker can kill you from across the room.)

I have had this type of discussion with my friends before. The best point made was, if everyone else has a gun, and you know it, would you try anything?

I think no guns should be allowed on campus I think if you really do not feel safe get a baseball bat. That way you can still protect yourself and keep yourself safe but at the same time. It takes more then just a blink of the eye to kill someone. Just in case you say "it was an accident" or "I thought you where a bugler".
Also if a student does go mad you can fight back easier against a baseball bat then you can a gun. A bullet is more then an arms length aways reach.

That's a really good point, I hadn't thought of that aspect before.
I think allowing this could definitely prevent massacres like those that have happened in the past.
If we do allow it, though, I think anyone wanting to own a gun and carry it on campus would definitely have to get it licensed through the college.

I think not. As much as responsibility one may think they have, it could end up for the worse. A roommate, friend, etc could steal it without your notice and do something treacherous. You may end up drunk or be very emotionally hurt. Without thinking you can end up killing someone. So I vote no.

In my opinion I believe that they shouldn't be aloud in collages because of the increased violence they cause. look what happened at that one university that kid shot like thirty-five people and killed himself. (i forgot which university it was D=)
