Hey - I just finished this the other day for my boyfriend. It's him and me in anime form. Anyway - I would like some critiques on this - the only thing I can figure out is that his head is too small and awkward looking but I was in a time crunch to get this done on time so I didn't go back and fix it. Any other tips?

Oh and if you will price this in mene gold I would appreciate it - I started a thread earlier selling art and so far no luck.

You will have to press the link for the picture is big and will surely stretch the page D:

edit: my DA is here: http://maria-minamino.deviantart.com - it'll help pricing

well your other arm seems a bit short and thin compared to the rest of the body ^^

but I can't find any other flaws besides the one you stated. :) it's looking great!

Oh! You're right! I thought I fixed the arm because it was even shorter than that at first - but I still didn't make it long enough! Thank you so much! I'll keep that up for next time!

The male's head looks a little small.
You're really good at drawing clothing!
I love how you did the green dress and gloves.
Sorry, I'm terrible with pricing though.

haha - yeah the head is too small - I was under deadline though because this was for my boyfriend for our 5 month anniversary and too finish it time I didn't have time to go back and reink it D: I wish I had.
Thank you though! I'm glad you like how I draw clothing - I work so hard on them!!!

Hmm... I think his chin is a little too pointy... And, yeah, his head is too small. But I like the picture as a whole. You did a pretty good job on the girl. ^-^

Whoops.
I misread your post as "can't decide if it's too small" instead of "can decide."
Sorry.

Most of the main issues have been said, but one more thing is, on one side of the girl's face, it's round, but on the other, it's kind of pointy and bends, same with the chin, it's pointy. Also, the guy's hand on the girl's arm looks kind of flat so you could add more shading to the fingers, and have shadowishness below the hand to show that it's not part of the girl's arm or anything. Other than that, it's pretty good! :]

hmm yeah --- That's just the way I've always drawn - perhaps it is time for style change - the pointy chin thing I mean.

haha - yeah the fingers are pretty bad - I was hoping no one would notice --- it was the last thing I did XDDD Thank you! I'll try to fix them1

@Ariel - yeah you mentioned the pointyness too - I didn't know it was so noticable XD I'll try to round it out next time.

This is all just for future reference but specifically...

The guy's head is where I started, it was just a little too squished and needed more cranium. Instead of extending it back, I brought the face forward, since extending it back would mean moving the neck (which connects to the back of the skull, not in the middle), which subsequently would require a change in the body, and also moving the position of the girl's hand.

I also changed the profile of the face to give him more of a forehead.

The next thing I did was sketch out a very minor change in his shoulders, made them a little more coathanger shaped instead of L-bracket (which made him seem a little tense).

One last thing changed about the guy was the angle of his hand around the girl's arm. When tried to sketch the position of the arm behind the girl to match the angle of the hand, I found that it would be at least very uncomfortable if not physically impossible to her her arm at that angle with none of the arm showing.
It is still a little awkward, but more believable I think.

For the girl, I moved her head down and made her neck slightly less thin, and again changing the shoulders slightly. Instead of changing the length of the short arm, I decided to force a little perspective on it (which is why I drew the glove cuff on that arm). The cuff on the glove was perfect to create an illusion of the arm being at a different angle. By exaggerating the curve of it, and changing the t-junction of the forearm and the upper arm so that the forearm appears in front. This way, there is an illusion that the upper arm actually sticks out towards the viewer, which would cause it to look shorter due to foreshortening. It's not a complete fix, but it helps.

Her other arm was shortened a tiny bit in the upper-arm, but lengthened slightly in the fore-arm. If you raise your arm and make a loose fist, you should find that your hand reaches about the same height as your shoulder, and that your elbow ends around the bottom of the ribcage.

The hands were also changed to have more definite skeletal structure, since they looked a tiny bit noodley. A couple hand tutorials could come in useful for the future :) I understand how much of a pain hands are though!

I think that's about everything. The faces aren't meant to be a 'fix' per se, I just felt silly not drawing faces XD.

I hope that helps some? I'm so awful at explaining myself. I hope you don't mind the redline.
It's a very sweet gift, I'm sure he'll appreciate it greatly ^^ so nice to see you using your talent and skill to make something unique and personal for your 5-month-milestone :)

I'm terrible at pricing, so I couldn't really say... I don't know the economy around here well enough XD.

You're a life saver - thank you! People who red line are the best because it's such a nice visual to see what the heck I've done wrong :D It helps me improve for the next time.

I see what you mean about the head and the arms - it's all stuff I wouldn't have ever thought of!

Thank you SO much - thank you for taking the time to actually do this for me - it means a lot and I'll surely heed your advice for next time :D Thank youuu!

Hmm... The coloring looks kind of well I guess... not so smooth... It kind of looks like it's piled together but that's just me. Like on the boy's face and clothes you could use the blur or smudge tool. I'm not very good at explaining... I really like the shading on the girl's dress! Also some the coloring goes over the lines, maybe cleaning it up may look a bit better.
And the chins are a bit pointy but overall it's a fabulous piece! Keep up the good work. :)

I like the way you drew the eyelashes, it's a style I've always enjoyed looking at.

Thank you so much - I like drawing eyelashes like that when I can - sometimes the picture is too small and it would be too difficult. <3

Aw - the coloring is just a stylistic thing - but it is a bit messy on this in some places. I was rushing to get this done in time so I didn't take time to do it better. The blur tool makes everything too blurry so I usually spend the time to make it look better.
thank you about her dress - I love clothing lately :D It's so much fun to draw and colour! and yeah - the chins are pointy - I've been drawing a lot lately and after getting a bunch of comments on that for this picture I've been working to smooth them out :D XD Thank you!

I see. True. But you could use the blur tool just a little bit.
You're welcome! I can't wait to see what else you draw!
