When they released all the new newbie clothes and hair, I bought a hair that was accidentally two toned when it wasn't supposed to be. They fixed it, now, but one of my avatars still has it if you want to see.


Back on topic. I think that a certain kind of vanity is involved in showing an avatar in a signature, but only in the sense that a certain amount of vanity is almost always tied up in pride. It's like, you know how there are certain hobbies that are considered "cool" like being in a rock band, or being an artist, or whatever? Some people take up such hobbies just for the prestige, and thus are posers. Even when you take up such a hobby with sincerity though, the knowledge of that prestige doesn't just go away, and sometime, well, we like to strut our stuff. I kind of see the same thing happening with avatars in signatures. Does that make any sense?

I guess advertising in sigs isn't a bad thing. It's better than sticking it to every one of your posts. I use my sig for advertisements too, haha.

i always thought the reason was an announcement to all other menewshans who are also members of gaia, that if they also have a gaia online account, they can look for them on gaia and possibly add them as a friend. Since Gaia has the export avatar feature, I've always thought it's pretty useful for those who want to contact other people on other sites.
Much easier than listing sites you go to and what your username is on each one. Simply click a picture and go to their profile. Seems nifty to me.
If Menewsha had an Export avatar feature I'm sure people would use it. I know people could make their own version by saving pictures and linking etc, but Gaia's system is easier as you don't have to even update your avatars image.

If you direct link to your avatar, it will automatically change after changing your avatar. All you have to do is right-click and Copy Image Location.

Personally, I don't get it myself. I mean, nobody's going to recognize my Gaian avatar here and I don't need to bother bragging about how Gaia-rich I am. The only conceivable reason I could think of for putting it in your sig is if you have a lot of friends who are on both sites and you want them to recognize you. Other than that, I really don't get why one would do something like that.
