They probrably just wanna show their gaia avatars off. maybe they think that it`ll boost their reputations on mene if they have a sweet avatar. or maybe it`s just cuz they want to let people kno they have a gaia account. who knows what they were thinking? xD

I honestly don't know. It really annoys me as well. I don't see how its that hard to keep two websites seperate from each other. I mean sure, if someone asks if you have an account on the other then go ahead and tell them your username or show them your avatar. But the majority of us, well at least me, couldn't care less what your gaia avatar looks like. :/

My sig might irk you, but it's pretty tame compared.

probably because its so much more difficult to make gold on mene than it is on gaia so they want to show off their rich avatars.
they also might want to show that they aren't completely new to avatar sites.
and then the fact that they might want people to add them on gaia.

I think it's pointless, in my opinion. I mean, you don't see people on Gaia advertising their Mene avatar, now, do you? Nope. So, I think they should keep the two separate. >w< They are two different websites, and if they want the same friends both way, then they should message them privately, not put it out in the open. o.x

I don't think it's all that pointless. Just because people don't put their Mene avatars on Gaia doesn't mean it's lame to do vice versa. Some people may just like their avatars on Gaia and since they have to option to do so, put it in their Mene sigs. Or maybe they avatars have similar dress themes and it has some sort of significance to whoever put it there, but it doesn't matter.D: Just like how people advertise the Mene banner in their Gaia signatures, some people may want to advertise their Gaia avatars in their Mene sigs.:I It's just what they do.

I want people on this site to know I'm on gaia, but I'd never want my gaia friends to know I'm on here.

I don't know why they do it, but if I ever went back to playing Gaia, I'd put my mene avatar in my siggy. Why? Because I LOVE my mene Avatar and I would like to show her off. That...and I'd want to piss the annoying Gaians off just a little bit...

I've stated my reason before and I'm not going to repeat myself. I was just surprised to see quite a lot of users here are bothered by gaian avis in the signature. Why? Does the sight of a gaian avi dig up bad memories? I mean, perhaps their gaian experience wasn't exactly pleasant or...the worst scenario I can think of is unfairly banned from the site.

For some reason this topic made me decide to put my Gaia, Anitaria and Menewsha avatar in my siggy :lol:

As for me, when I first joined, it was when Mene had the whole advertisement on Tektek, so I joined with that crowd. So I did have my Gaia avy in my sig for awhile.

I think it's silly that any community is anti-<insert community here>. Gaians tend to be anti any other avatar community. Other avatar communities are usually anti-gaia. It's very... strange.

The only things I don't like about that place are the general idiots and n00bs. But I avoid them for the most part by selecting who I talk to. And I notice the same people on other avatar sites. So it's no big deal.

I think people do it because they can't put it anywhere else? On gaia, you have a profile you can put it on. And Mene doesn't have customizable profiles yet.

I mean, this is MENEWSHA. I have never, ever in my 5 years of being on Gaia seen anyone there post a picture of their avatar from other websites in their signatures. So why do you do it here?

I came here from Gaia, too. Yeah, I think my Gaia avi is good (it would be great if the Devs would simply make nice cat ears & tail like these Yumeh ones I have on- but they won't! I've been asking for 3 years, and they just don't listen to the "non-prommie" users :evil: ).

However, back to your point...
On Gaia I do post my IMVU avatar quite a bit. I'm pretty proud of how my avi on IMVU looks, so it's in my Journal and I post it in threads and I PM it to people when I'm looking for artwork. So, yes, people do post their avis from other sites on Gaia. Just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

As for posting your Gaia avi here on Mene, I don't know about that one. I'm VERY new, so I'm still getting a feel for this place- but I don't think I'd post my Gaia avi in my sig. Other people may do it for reasons others have posted: People might recognize the avatar (some people {like me} almost never change their avi look). Other people might be impressed by an avi with Minis or an AFK or OMG or whatever... a "rich" Gaian.

Maybe having their Gaia avi in their sig helps them with the transition from Gaia to Mene. It's like going from middle school strait to university (yes, Gaia is circling the drain and is at grammar school intelligence level IMHO :roll: )

Also, people might want to re-create the look they have on Gaia here on Mene. Maybe they just think their avi is that cool.

That's a good question...I always wondered about that, because it's true that someone more than likely is not going to recognize you from your gaia avatar, since there are probably lots of people with similar avatars out there.

I guess people are just proud of the way their avatars look? But then it would seem likely that they would put those avatars in their gaia signatures as well...

Maybe they're afraid of their signature getting banned for "advertising" other sites or something like that. Gaia has been known to be very picky about those sorts of things in the past.

I don't really use my signature on gaia much, maybe I'll put my zantarni avatar into my signature and see what happens.

I'd think their just putting it there to show their a gaian too. I've seen links to here in gaia signatures. I recently quit gaia though it became too big for my tastes. It's advertised in alot of places and their storyline went down the john so I saw no point in staying. If I still was gaian though I'd probably put my menewsha avi in my sig there because I just think its pretty and I'd want people to see. ^^'

Possibly the same could be happening with gaian avatars on here? Just wanting to show off? Or a cry like "I'm on gaia too are you?" I dunno ._.

Hm, I agree with Kiwizzle. It just seems... out of place. I'm not Anti anything, I just get a little confused when I see so many Gaia avy's in peoples sigs.

One or two, here and there... that wouldn't bother me. But it seems a popular trend, and that is just weird to me.

I don't mean to bash anyone or make any claims that it 'means' anything. Just stating that it's a bit jarring to see so many avatars.

Although seeing a parade of avies from different sites all in the same sig is kind of nifty - like a montage. Why this doesn't bother me and the single ones do... I don't know.

A person's personal tastes cannot be judged by logic. They just 'are'.

I don't really get the point in putting any avatar in your signature unless it's a dream avatar or something. I guess it's nice when you see someone from another avatar site though.

I saw somebody with a Menewsha avatar in their Gaia signature... that's how I found out about this place. :shock:

I don't see why you're yelling and swearing about it. Really, they're all just avatars, and there's no law that says anyone's a traitor for being proud of each and every one of them. In fact, I was planning on making a Gaia sig that displays my avatars from other sites, because I think they're beautiful.
