So that you could re-experience the time of the older games and consoles? Like the Playstation1, the N64, etc. I do, very much.
I love the current generation, but there's something about the older gen that is just really awesome, and I'd love to be able to go back to the time where it was all new, especially since I was very young and couldn't enjoy that generation fully.

Hmm, I'm not sure I'd want to play only those games though. I like most of them, but I like our new games too, although the newest ones keep getting stupider and stupider...

It'd be cool if it was temporary though. =)

I don't need to go back in time, my friend keeps buying up all the old consoles. I play those things on a regular basis.

I miss the days when I'd sit on my brother's bedroom floor and watch him play Mario Bros. and Legend of Zelda for hours on end. Those games are so classic! I also sort of miss playing Duck Hunt...and this one game that I had, a Sesame Street game for the Nintendo, with spelling and counting games. I felt so cool that I could use the Nintendo like my brother. I remember watching the ferris wheel go around and pressing the buttons to make the letters hop off. *sighs and thinks dreamily of the good 'ole days*

Ooh! Yesssss! I'm actually considering buying the Super NES console this summer! XD

Just cause I miss it and THOSE WERE THE GOOD OLD DAYS.

heh.. all we had to worry about then were random blocks to fit, balloon fights, battle tanks and space invaders to shoot and destroy, etc. XD

I got to fully enjoy the N64, since I was about 10-ish when it came out. Same with the PSOne,PS2, and Genesis.

I can still remember my mom getting so pissed off at paying late fees at the local movie/ game store because I would keep the games out for months, not return them, and stay out of school to play them (I did that with Legend of Mana and Suikoden II).

I do wish I could go back, with a little bit of older perspective, and actually buy and take care of the games I loved back then. And so I could have become more a part of the gaming culture of the time; I only missed out on that by a few scant years.

...You think the PS1 is an OLD console?

...Now I really feel old. My first system was the NES. My favorite system to this day is the SNES, and YES, I still play it. Donkey Kong, Chrono Trigger, The 7th Saga, The Secret of Evermore? They just don't MAKE games like those anymore. You don't have a clue what you're missing!

But I can think of better reasons to go back in time than to play video games. If I could go back, with money, I'd buy lots and lots of Jem dolls. $_$

Raziel: Don't feel old, I'm just young! XD I was...*checks* Not even born when the SNES came out XD I'm 14, so I was really young even when the Ps1 came out. Don't feel old! And I'm sure I don't have any clue what I missed, which is why I wish I could go back and actually LIVE the generation you mentioned D:

You don't need a time portal, you just need luck and adequate cash. Unfortunately the best old games tend to be in low supply and pricey.

I'm lucky enough to own most of the old consoles (old for my generation at least, not Atari old) so I can experience a lot of the nostalgic games of the past whenever I choose. Unfortunately we didn't buy all of my favorite games as a kid, and we got rid of the Sega Genesis and 32X, which had some of the better games. =/

I've managed to buy some of my more favorite old games later though, like Super Mario RPG. :3

*sighs deeply*

Oh... and I got to buy those really old Family Computer games for my NDS Lite. :D It was in a GBA game cartridge and cost like 15 dollars. Not pricey at all... XD

BebeMae I used to do the same thing. I would sit in my brother's room for hours and watch him play the really old stuff. I remember him playing Final Fantasy Four(i think it was 4)and Ocarina of Time. Those were really great times.

My brother taught me how to play video games. He walked my sister and I through Ocarina of Time and made me fight King Dodongo all by myself! I was so scared.

I love playing the old games so much, that's why I'll never get rid of my N64, that's just too many memories.

N64 is old? D: I want to cry now... Ocarina of Time is ageless to me since they keep releasing it in some form or another. I own a copy on the Gamecube and just unlocked a demo for it on Brawl. Now if only they could make a decent port of Majora's mask that won't freeze. =/

My brother taught me how to play too. And I remember the first creatures I encountered on Zelda were these funny little black blobs that sort of hopped around. My brother and I called them "boobies" [I don't know why, we were young and strange]...And I got such a crush on the little mushroom guy from Mario, Toad...and I always wanted to be Princess Peach.

There was something about Nintendo 64s that was just classic...they hold more charm for me than Segas or Playstation Xs, so...yeah. I might go back in time just to reexperience the good old games, and maybe pick up some of the ones that I missed when I was younger.

Now, why would you do that?
In the current age, you have access to all old games. I still have my N64, and I must say the current-gen is just as good as any of my N64 games. And most N64 games are ugly. Pre-rendered sprites are the definition of hideous..

But look, you do have access to them. I've played many SNES and NES games. Not on original hardware, but i've seen images of NES controllers online and they look difficult to use. I'm kinda thankful I didn't play the games on original hardware.
Have I told you how bad the NES looks? Only 16 colours on screen, headache causing sound, and small games? NES games are the definition of hideous...

But, to be fair, I have had access to an Atari before. Not sure which one. It was second-hand and half broken. It had Space invaders. I don't care what people say, Space Invanders is a bad game. Yes, it started a genre of good games, but its overall awful. Space invaders is the definition of hideous....

In then end, you're not missing out on anything.

Not for the games I don't, unless it's the N64. I have to admit that seemed like an awesome console to have had. I want to go back so I can follow Led Zeppelin everywhere. Robbie Plant and Jimmy Page, HOMG gimme.

I don't consider the N64 and PS1 "old."

And there's no need to go back in time, or to wish I could.
I have all my favorite NES games in ROM form.

As for the current "gen," some of the games are alright,
but most of them are pretty much the equivalent of "control the movie."
I hate it. Too much emphasis on things that could otherwise be taken care of in another medium, while taking up an assload of time and taking out half the fun.

Plus, the originality of most separate games today is absolute shit.
It's almost like nothing exists anymore,
aside from FPS, racing, and RPG.

I was born in the early eighties - I haven't missed much. I remember playing Duck Hunt with my cousins on the NES when it was still the cool new thing. I had friends who had Ataris. We'd play Pong.

I had a Gameboy, though I mostly just used it to play Tetris and Mario 3. (I still have it.)

I got a Super Nintendo when I was 11, though I didn't have many games because they were super expensive. XD I never had a Sega, but I knew people who did. We'd play Sonic, but I was horrible at it because I was used to slower-paced games. XD
