I have Five Tattoo's.
and nine Piercings.
But not to confrom,
each of them is a Memory to me.
I love the way they make me look.
they make me love the skin I have.
It makes me interesting,
and it makes for some interesting coversations, on where and why and how you got the tattoo/ piercing.

Piercings can get infected, and I don't even see a point to getting ears pierced; tis just as bad as any other piercing. tattoos and piercings aren't cute but they are awesome if they're done tastefully. They aren't ugly and not all piercings or tattoos are put into place to 'show off' or 'be unique' there are a lot of people who get tattoos for personal reasons, such as religions, the death of a loved one or the birth of a family member. Are you going to tell me jesus, rememberance and celebration are ugly?

and newsflash: have you looked at the world today? people don't just randomly come up and start conversations with people to get to know them and find their 'unique' side. furthermore, if you don't like tattoos or piercings why the hell do you look at them? if you get burned at the side of a campfire do you wiggle closer to the flames?

and yes piercings can get infected, but guess what, so can a scrape or cut. even the tiniest of papercuts can get infected. Treating an infected piercing takes the same amount of time and the same tools. and clip on earrings tend to be outrageously ugly. I have yet to see a tasteful looking clip on earring.

as for piercings being just as bad as putting a bullet through your stomach and putting a pole through it.. that's complete and utter bullshit. Way to be a drama queen, seriously.

if you must know most piercings don't hurt at all and unlike a bullet the needle AND jewelry are sterilized before the procedure takes place. A bullet.. not so much and a pole.. definately not. So if you want to blow holes in your tummy and stick a pole in it you might as well get a good friend take a hammer and impale you to the ground.

I'm sorry if I sound mean but your argument about piercings and tattoos flat out sucks. it seems to me that you're just a judgemental person who looks at someone and bases their entire opinion on what you see. why don't YOU start talking and getting to know people eh?

In all fairness, they do exist. You just have to scour the whole wide world for them.
I got this pair as a gift, and I have no clue what company made them or what store they came from. But it's basically become my life goal to find at least two more pairs that look as nice as these do.

Piercing and tattooing have been going on for hundreds of years, and are a part of some cultures, just because you think something is ugly doesn't mean everyone else does. also, piercings get infected..if you don't take care of them... most people who want piercings do take care of them.. I'm starting to find you rather funny. but not in the good way ^^"

Well if criminals have tattoos then you can count me on that list, but keep in mind that I have never killed anyone, raped anyone or anything else like that and I haven't stolen anything. I was brought up in a well mannered family. So now that that is clear.

I personally think tattoos and piercings shows you can be brave and wince when getting a tattoo or a piercing done. I recently got my tragus pierced and I've put up with the pain. Seriously I have a high pain threshold. Some of us like to test our own pain thresholds to prove to other people we aren't as weak as we look.

I've got three tattoos, I don't plan on going over top and getting my whole body tattooed also I have 7 holes in my body FOUR of those being my earlobes which is two in each ear. The others are Tragus (like mentioned above), top of my left ear and my labret. I don't see piercings or tattoos as ugly and I think near enough everyone will probably feel the same whether they have a tattoo/piercing or not.

Tattoos are permanent unless you get special surgery. And they came from tribes, and we caught onto it.

Piercings, however, do NOT scar if they're done right. Take them out, and in a short amount of time, and heal. You would never know they were there. Unless you gauged them excessively, and that's just gross.

I take it the criminal argument was a joke? Because any criminal with a bit of brains will wear clothing that hides tattoos, regardless of if he has any or not. And "gosh, I'd better not get any tattoos because I want to rob banks and kill people when I'm older"... that's a pretty far-fetched idea. Besides, tattoos can be used to identify the victims of an accident and such.

I'm not a fan of overdone tattoos, silly tattoos (like Apple/Microsoft/Myspace logos or that monkey tattoo circulating around the internet) and overdone piercings because large tattoos will sag when the skin grows older, but piercings and tattoos can look very beautiful. They've been around for millennia, I don't see why people should stop getting tattooed now.

I have holes in my ears and a navel piercing, and a small tattoo on my back with a list of personal meanings too long to post here. It's not "cute" or "kool" and it was never intended to be, it is there to symbolize various things. The one thing it is NOT, is ugly self mutilation. I don't want a drawing so personal and with such complex meaning to be compared to cut-up arms, thank you very much.

About tattoos hurting and scarring for life: mine is located on my spine between my shoulderblades and a bit below, and 90% of the tattooing process tickled more than it hurt. And again, people with tattoos don't see them as "scars", they are symbols representing various aspects of themselves.

And I think you're missing a very important point in your comparison of getting a piercing to sticking a pole through your stomach: piercings do not damage important organs. They're only skin deep. Besides, people who are willing to go through the pain of getting a piercing will do everything they can to treat it right, because they don't want it to get infected or grow out.

Well, I don't agree at all. The tattoos that I will be getting at some point in my life all mean a special thing to me. Like the one I want that is a heart with a thorn crown around it and the heart bleeding. It symbolizes my faith in Jesus and God. I'm getting my lip pierced with snakebites on Saturday. I love them, I think they are cute and anyone who has a problem with it can screw off.

It's hard to debate on a question that's simply an either-or thing, such as this one. All you got is, do you think tatts and piercings are okay or not? It's like you simply stated an opinion and that's it. It's hardly debatable. Did I sound harsh? I wasn't being that, just honest :].

My usual stand on preferences is simply that, we all have our preferences. I don't like it but other people do so it's not my problem anymore if they want to fill their entire body with holes and drawings. I can shout myself hoarse and reprimand the next person on the cons of tattoos and piercings but like, are they really going to listen to me? I won't waste time on people who don't need my opinion.

Car accidents hurt and scar for life, but I bet you're travelling in one quite a bit, no?
This isn't even a viable argument, all you did was state some kind of skewed opinion with little or no justification.

As someone who's spent about eight hours having tattoos done, I have a lot of respect for the artist and the art form.

I'm interested as to your thoughts on plastic surgery.

Indeed. It's one thing to design a tattoo, but being able to put an identical copy of the drawing on skin without the possibility of erasing a mistake... That requires skill and deserves lots of respect.

Her thoughts on plastic surgery are in her thread called "Stupid girls" :XD That thread basically says that anyone who does only the tiniest thing to look prettier is only doing that to impress the other sex and it's impossible for a girl to just put on make-up or nice clothes because SHE likes them.

If someone wants to get a tattoo or a piercing, that's their own choice. It's their body, and if they're aware of the risks involved, then by all means. If they go into it unaware, however, then there might be cause for concern, or if they do it without their parent's knowledge. Personally, so long as they know what they're getting into, then let them get as inked and pierced as they want.

I see body modification as a personal choice.Though yes I am turned off in some forms in other people.
To me personally it does feel wrong to wound yourself, even if it heals unless it's done for health reasons. I do not hold others to this standard however...So I won't be like booo you got your lip pierced. It's not that I'd like to discriminate against people...There's just that "yuck" factor for some of them.

Harsh much OP? Geez. I have 2 tatts, fairly small, palm sized on my ankles, just to start, had a make sure I could stand the pain, obviously I did since I have 2..lol.And I have 9 earrings, 4 in each lobe,1 in my left cartilage.Which I might add,my cartilage pierce hurt a LOT more than my tatts, and lasted like 6 weeks.I only have my ears done, and wont pierce anything else, but thats me.Anyone else can have at it.I will say being covered in metal from head to toe is kinda odd,and not attractive, and likely to get you a lot of stares, but thats just my opinion.
When I got mine done,it was more of an annoying type of pain, rather than a kill me now kind, thats when he was actually inking me.They were sore and kinda tender for a week, exactly like someone else said,it felt like a sunburn. The worst part of the healing for me was the itch. That made me wanna die!!
I dont and wont regret getting mine. They were well thought out,and represent who I am nicely.People dont like it or judge me,oh well. They arent the types I should be associating with anyways. For myself, sleeves and whole body pieces dont work,I dont care for it.On others,it doesnt bother me.Theres some amazing art out there floating around on people.
I think you are closing yourself up to a lot of decent people if you hold their body arts against them. But hey, thats your loss.Sad really that you are so close minded, and seemingly full of hate for simple body art.

First off, I have three tattoo and 17 piercings. I did not get them to be "unique". I did not get them to be "cool". I did not get them to "impress people". I got them because I like them. I don't care if others don't like them, they make ME happy. Besides my ear piercings and tattoos are hidden from the public. You wouldn't even know I have them unless I spoke (tongue piercing), wore shorts or wore a bathing suit.

People shouldn't be so against others getting body art. It's not like they are forcing you to get it. They are getting it for themselves. It's like me telling you you're not allowed to eat your favorite food anymore because I am against it. You'd tell me to piss off and continue eating. I say the same to when you say that piercings and tattoos shouldn't be allowed or whatever.

If you don't like tattoos or piercings, then don't look at them. It's not that hard of a concept.

Thinking you may be a criminal in the future? Not if you have tattoos. Police can identify you by your tattoo, no matter what hair and face changes you do. Of course you can always get it removed, but that's painful and costs money, just as getting it did to put it there in the first place. Why get a tattoo if you might remove it?

I agreed with you on your last post about tupid girls but this time I have to argue. I have piercings other people don't have because I'm brave. I lso have tatt's but they all mean something. Anyway with tatt's and piercings it all comes down to the pain. I like the pain...no matter how badly people treat you, you can always go out and get a piercing to feel pain...feel pain makes me feel more human.

There are other things that scar peoples lives more than piercings and tattoos. Like death, accidents, etc.

Anyways, I dun think there is anything wrong with people having tattoos or piercings. I'm not the type of person to really like tons of piercings and tattoos, but I think some are fine. I dun think a lot of people get tattoos or piercings to show off. I think that each tattoo has a story from it. Maybe its about a loved one, a religious symbol or something else. Not exactly sure about piercings however.I guess people just like the way they look?

Well, if people are willing to get tattoos, they are willing to take pain and be brave. As well as with getting piercings. But yes, you can get an infection from getting your ears pierced. But, it can usually be if your allergic to the "material" of the earrings.Or, possibly by cheap earrings. (So I have heard)

What are you saying? Don't get a tattoo because you won't be able to commit a crime later because it will identify you?
That's not a very good example.
Plus, don't you think you exaggerating way too much with the whole "it's like putting a pole through a bullet hole" thing?
People choose to accentuate themselves in many ways. You shouldn't be so critical.

It doesn't hurt that bad. I have a very low pain tolerance, and getting a tattoo just stung for a few minutes. It wasn't that bad. Personally, I think piercings are a lot more painful. The sting of the tattoo goes away a lot faster.

That being said, I obviously don't hate tattoos or piercings. I have one tattoo and no piercings now. My piercings got infected, because I was allergic to the type of earring I put in after I lost my titanium ones. My tattoo isn't some really unique design. I got it with a friend of mine. It was kind of a bonding experience to mark a special time.

It's really just a matter of opinion. Like, you could like skinny guys; whereas, I'm more into really muscular guys.

I find some tattoos and piercings extremely attractive on guys. I'm not into facial/head tattoos. I'm also very selective in the piercings I find attractive. That's just me. My mom doesn't like men with any tattoos or piercings. That's her.

If we all liked the same things, life would be rather boring, wouldn't it?

Um okay...

Thanks for your opinion (no matter how warped it may be :sarcasm:)

Tattoos and piercings are ways to express inner emotions and experiences, I'm not going to say all tattoos are works of are, but when done well they are. Yes it may hurt to get one, but that's a matter of opinion. Maybe you're pain threshold isn't that great or something. :sarcasm:

When piercings are done well they don't get infected, sometimes that is determined by your own hygiene. I don't get your point, you don't have to have a piercing to get a part of your body affected by something really...

There are just many people who live lives of crimes with or without ink and piercings, they make no difference in crime.

I'm 17 and i have two tattoo's not because theyre cool, not because i wanted to make myself more unique, not because of any other thing you just suggested :)

I have one on the back of my neck and one on the bottom of my back neither of them hurt and i got both for free,... my brother is a tattoo artist,... I do not have a complete genuine reason as for getting these tattoos ;) but i enjoy them and what i do with my body is no concern to any one else, its also convenient where they are placed because when going to special occasions like weddings parties etc i can cover them as to not offend the wrong people :)

People that do not have a tattoo do not, not get one simply because they want to be a criminal later in life so as not to make them easily identifiable xD, It is a matter of opinion,... and i think people should worry more about what they do and how they influence their cultural background or way of life before they comment on someone elses

I also only have my ears peirced,... its quite lucky i do my boyfriend sent me some gorgeous earings,... and i wear them everyday,... peircings only become infected due to either reactions to the metal in the earings,... and lack of cleaning, i believe there may be other reasons but i cannot think of them as of yet xD.

It's nice you have an opinion, but most would disagree with you i expect,... tattoos and peircings are seen as a way of making your body a piece of art,... as that is what it is, art,.... art is accepted in most places, and seeing as the body is gods art, Don't people have a choice in how they make their body more beautiful than what it is? although making it more beautiful is not needed as it is beautiful anyways xD

What's so bad about tattoos and piercings? A lot of people like them, and I say let them do what they want. I won't even judge them for it. Besides, you're speaking purely on opinion. What you say will be seen differently in someone else's eyes.

I personally wouldn't get them myself because I'm afraid of needles and such, but I don't find it disgusting or anything.
