Unlike most people here, I don't mind if holidays are commercialized. I agree with Krissy. If you do the same things over the years, it makes them a tradition whether they're traditional or not. Like coloring easter eggs, eating chocolate, etc. Those are things you have to pay money for, but it's each individual families choice whether or not they want to make that part of their tradition or not. It's not like the ad companies are so good at manipulating that it has to be a commercial holiday, it just can be if you want it to be.
My family isn't religious at all...at least not together (we each have individual beliefs that we celebrate on our own/or no religious beliefs), but we celebrate most "commercialized" holidays the same way: getting together and eating. It's not often that I get to see my family and not often that I get a good homecooked meal, so I like commercialized holidays quite a lot.

My family went to an Easter service this morning. I'm not really much of a believer but I do like our pastor. He's a really nice guy and doesn't try to promote himself over everyone else. It was interesting at least, he talked about Thomas who most people put down as a doubter but said that it was normal for most people to start out that way, we just need something to spark our belief. I liked that.
My family doesn't really dress up for easter. Well, okay, my little sister does because my mom likes buying her clothes. I saw quite a few ladies in their new floral dresses, but I just wore jeans and a nice shirt.

Me and my family are not religious at all, so we never go to church, not for easter, christmas or any other time. In fact, I don't think anyone around where I live go to church, maybe just a few. But I'm not christened or anything either so I'm not even a member of the church or anything like that

It's after Easter now so I guess I missed most of the discussion.
Anyways my mother is a super super religous Catholic and although most of the rest of my family doesn't really have as strong beliefs we go along with it all out of respect for her. Usually I would be going to all the services including Holy Thursday and Good Friday but I've had a real bad cold so I was able to pass on those this year. I did however go to 'Midnight Mass' (it's actually at 8 pm these days).
Then, as a kinda family tradition we have, on Easter morning we all went to my father's Methodist Church to be with our grandmother (my father's mother). After the mass my mother takes my sister and I down to see our great aunts.
All and all it's a real busy few days. I usually quite enjoy it (I love the dressing up, candles during Midnight Mass, going down to my grandmother's church, etc.) but this year I had really bad pains in my knees and all the standing up and kneeling during church services was horrible.
