So I was passing in a project for spanish over me familia and I gave it to my teacher and she said that this was the worst artwork she's ever seen. Woe is me. ;___;

Discuss.

Has this ever happened to you?

If so, in what class?

And if not, what would you do if this happened? (be logical and resonable in your response please ^^)

Was she serious? You didn't ask her for her opinion did you?
The bitch. D:< I would have called her on it.

In my art class, no one can trash my art. Not because it's outstanding or anything though.
It's because I finish before most people, and my work is of higher quality. =]

That is really harsh!

This used to happen to me all the time in art lessons, I'd get terrible grades and my teacher would constantly go on at me about my 'lack of artistic style'.
This is one of the reasons why I never carried on with art at school past the compulsory phase.
I didn't like being told what to draw and having my personal style critiqued by teachers who think that students should only use the style they teach...

Narrow minded 'art teachers' get on my nerves.

Well if you tried your best then she shouldn't complain about your artwork. Maybe she felt you could do better? That's pretty rude though. If art isn't your thing, then she shouldn't insult you because of it.

If you just did stick figures and said "fuck this, I'm too lazy to draw." then I see her point. but if you did your best, then that wasn't very nice! D;!

I'm off to draw now. Oh the irony.

My art teacher would say things to me like "At least you tried!" (in a voice that implies patting me on the head at the same time) because I was so awful at art. I would joke about it though, since all my attempts however hard I tried turned out a bit rubbish and I knew it.

I would make sure that the person wasn't joking first. If my teacher was being deadly serious I would probably say something like "I worked very hard on that project, and I don't think your comment is appropriate." or "I'm sorry, but that offended me.", just to let them know that their words were hurtful. I do agree that if your teacher continues to be rude to you either tell your parents or another member of staff at your school. People probably have sued for less.

How mean! Art teachers are not allowed to criticize whether a piece of art is good or not, because the beauty of art is that different people may find it beautiful. Art is to each their own!

This has never happened to me, because people have always said my art is good, even though I know other kids who draw better... in fact, my current art teacher thinks my art is good only compared to the rest of my classmates, who don't even try.

My dad told me he failed an art project once, even though he tried hard, and even his teacher was shocked. It was a landscape sketch...

She actually said that it sucked? D':< Wow! That`s horrible! <///3 Did you even ask her // him for their opinion? She // He had absolutely no right to say that about someone else`s art, it`s a personal thing. ]:<

As for myself, I`ve never had that happen to me except in grade 5 when I used to outline the figure darker and colour it in lighter. My teacher said that it was "abnormal" to do that. XD

I took art class in seventh grade. It was a nightmare!! I like to draw now but when I was in Seventh grade art was tough. My teacher didn't like my shading at all, no wonder when I draw I mostly avoid shading.

Good grief, that's a terrible thing for her to say. It's not as if she's your art teacher and you were turning in something that was very art-oriented and was meant to be good artwork. Like someone else said, you didn't ask for her opinion, and it's rude and hurtful to tell someone that it was the worst artwork she'd ever seen.

Even my art teacher, who was kind of harsh, never said those sorts of things to people. She was kind of silent on something if she didn't like it, or she'd just attempt to make you change everything about it. But never told someone their artwork was that bad. So I guess no, it's never happened to me, but really, you should have called her on how rude it was.

I wouldn't let it bother you, art is subjective. People have different tastes and simply because your teacher doesn't care for it doesn't mean it's not going to appeal to someone else. Your teacher is only one person and one opinion. Just keep drawing if you like it. Maybe she was just having a bad day. Besides she is a spanish teacher, not an art teacher.

Wow. I'd report her to the principal for that. That was just completely uncalled for. :x

My kindergarten teacher was like that with me. She once called me stupid because I asked her for confirmation on the spelling of "leprechaun." Which is obviously not a very easy word for a five-year old to spell. D: But I spelled it out and showed it to her and said "Is this right?"

And apparently I was "stupid" for having to make sure.

She even told my MOTHER that I was apparently stupid because of this.

And the best part is, this wasn't an isolated incident. I swear, the rod up her ass must have had a rod up its ass. >.<; She was a bitch. Not only that, but I was able to correct her spelling on other simpler words in the past (yes, when I was 5) - only reason I felt safe asking her in this case was because I knew she'd probably stayed up all night to memorize this one. XD

Thank god, she's not teaching kindergarten anymore. But every time she comes through the store where I work and writes a check...I'm tempted to tell the checker to really look it over carefully; she probably misspelled "one."

Teachers can be such asses sometimes. Thank god I used up all my bad luck with teachers in elementary school. ^^;

All artwork is beautiful if effort and feeling was put into it. Some people might like it, others might not, but that gives no one the right to put it down like that. And that's what I would've said to your damn teacher...

I've never had a problem with any of my teachers. I was lucky that way I guess. I Certainly had none that told me I sucked at something. :shock: Wow. Is that an American School? I've heard bad things about them being Stereotypically bad with teachers that don't care.

Though knowing me even if one of my teachers said something like that to me I would have taken it at sarcasm. Cuz I m cocky like that ROFLMAO! :lol:

I would definitely tell your mother or Father about it though, because thats not right.
