Hey awesome!
I had no clue that there was a knitter's coalition...this is sweet.
:) I'll definately post some pictures of projects I've finished.
I started with scarves, hats, and now am on socks. Socks are fun to knit.
I've been knitting for about 12 years now.
I am also into embroidery projects, I do a lot of them. Right now i'm about near half done with this huge peacock tapestry. It looks amazing so far.

Oh that peacock tapestry is amazing! I don't know if I'd have the patience/attention span for anything the intricate!

I love the banner.

I don't know about the color of the font though...it's a bit bright.
Yeah. It's taken me about 8 years off and on to get that much done on the tapestry. I hope it won't take that much longer to finish it.
Though...right now it's at a standstill because it's off and I don't know how I want to fix it.
*sigh* Counted cross stitch projects can be really time consuming.

Yeah, I want to learn, but haven't had time/money for supplies. I hope you get it fixed up soon. I have a shawl I've been working on but it's cursed. An old roommate pulled it off the needles, and it's in laceweight yarn and dropped over 100 stitches and now I'm only 3 or so rows from being done and it's off and I can not figure out where the mistake is.

I remember years ago my grandma teaching me how to knit. i was about... 8/9 at the time lol
I can't remember any of it now.

But I am an avid cross stitcher. My first finished cross stitch was of a rose when I was 9 years old. it was about 10" x 5" i think. I was very pleased with myself :)
I gave it to my grandma as a gift and ended up teaching her how to cross stitch. It was wonderful.
When she passed away 6 years ago I acquired the rose and it has pride of place in my display cupboard. Not only because it was my first finished project, but also for the memories it has.

I'll take some pictures of the 3 latest projects I've completed and post them here when i've uploaded them to my computer.

And here are a couple of pictures.
The most recent project is back home waiting to be framed along with a rather large greeny-blue dragon that took me over 3 years to do (off and on) so these small things will have to do for now ^_^

the archie and the somebunny is from a chart in a couple of cross stitching magazines and the geisha was a freebie from another magazine.
you can't see it, but the somebunny with the mug uses the DMC light effect threads on the butterflies.

Hooray, the thread is getting active again!

Immortaleyes, I've added your banner to the front page.
If anyone else wants to create on, either post it here or pm it to me. We'll then have a choice on what to put up, and everyone can vote on it.

:)
I'm glad my banner was put to use.
And that this place is active again.
Captainsaavy: I still have the first one I did as well. It was a little cross stitch ornament of a teddy bear. I still have this one of stuffed animals on a bench that is almost near completion but not all the way done. I should pull it out and finish it. I don't have problems starting projects, I just have problems finishing them.

@ Immortaleyes: I know exactly what you mean. I also have problems finishing projects. It doesn't help that the charts I pick are almost always large ones with lots of colour changes and backstitch.
Case and point is the dragon i'm waiting to get framed. It used kreinik blending filament and I needed to thread one strand of filament with the 2 strands of DMC thread. The filament has a horrible tendency to fray half way so you have to cast off, re-thread and carry on. This of course attributed to me leaving it a whole year without working on it :o

@ Neko Neko Kitty: Thank you :) I adore the Somebunny charts, they use beautiful pastel colours and I love the mismatched ears ^_^

Hooray! Today, I finished the knitted portion of my messenger bag.

I took the "Zeeby's Bag" pattern from the first Stitch 'N Bitch book, and adapted it a little bit. Mine is a bit wider and deeper, so it's shaped like a messenger bag instead of a purse. I just made a single strap that attached to each end, and tapered it in the middle so that it wasn't so bulky. I didn't bother with the inside pocket or the contrasting color accents, so that instead leaves me with blank panels on both the front and back.

Sometime this week, I'm going to try to get into town and buy some fabric for the inside lining. I used a maroon Red Heart yarn to knit the bag, so I think some kind of black patterned clothe would look nice inside.

Then, I'm going to search online to try to find a grid or pattern for an embroidery for the front. I need some kind of design there, it just looks incredibly plain without it. I have a few stencils saved to my computer that I might try to translate into a yarn design, but I don't know how well they'll work. Some are too intricate, and the others might look a little strange on a bag. One that I think I'll try is the recycling motif, but I want some other choices first.

If you guys have any suggestions, I'd be happy to hear it!

Knerd, if you want, you could do duplicate stitch on the bag and make all sorts of things on it. I know I have a skull and crossbones pattern somewhere if you like that kind of thing. But you'd have to do the duplicate stitch or embroidery before you sew the inside panels for your bag.
You could also use any sort of knit pattern with the duplicate stitch method...so whatever pattern you can find online that people will let you use could be put on your bag.
Good luck with finding the right pattern.
:)

I was just planning on taking a yarn in a contrasting color and stitching a design into one of the panels. I doesn't have to be anything very fancy, but at least it will add something to the bag.

I have a skull and crossbones grid, too. I think it actually came in the Stitch 'N Bitch book, for one of the men's sweaters.

So I've been working on knitting a dog toy for my nephew/niece that's going to be born in December. I used a red, white, and green variegated yarn for it. I've finished knitting all the pieces, sewing them up, and have stuffed everything. I just have to attach the arms and legs to the body. I'm thinking that I will attach them with buttons so that they're movable. I'll take a picture once it's done.
I used duplicate stitch for the nose and the little heart that I put on the left side of it's chest. And I did knots for the eyes, and a black ribbon for the neck bow. It's adorable so far. I can't wait until it's finally finished.
I used a pattern out of Knitted Toys by Zoe Mellor.

I'm also looking into making some other knitted toys as well. Like maybe a cat and an elephant and a panda bear....maybe even a bear. :) I've found something that I might just do a lot of. :)

I finished my messenger bag!

I finished the actual knitting part during my week's worth of Spring Break, and I only now had the opportunity to buy some fabric for the inner lining. Once I had gotten back from the store, it only took about 2 hours to whip that into shape and insert it into the bag.

Finished product:

After looking at the basic design of Zeeby's Bag from the Stitch 'N Bitch books, I was inspired to create a larger messenger bag from some extra yarn I had sitting around the house.

The construction is pretty basic - I used the stockinette stitch to create two rectangular panels for the front and back, and gave the top of each a slight rim so that it wouldn't curl and would have some extra durability. The sides and bottom were then made from a single long strip of garter stitches. I crocheted the pieces together and attached the single strap at either end.

And since I actually wanted to use this bag on a regular basis, I finished it off by lining the inside. Nothing fancy, since I'm not very handy with the sewing machine yet. I just happened to find a nice textured material on sale, so I whipped it into a basic square and sewed it inside.

The entire thing was much quicker and easier than I would have thought.
I'll probably make a bunch more of these and use them as holiday gifts!

Aw, I like the dog. It looks really cute in those Christmas colors.

And I'm always impressed when people make their own socks, even if it's just one pair. There's so much work that goes into them!

Yeah.
Socks are fun to make.
My first pair were a light purple and they turned out looking freaky looking.
:)
I've probably made at least 8 different pairs so far.
Let's see, my sisters, my mom, my best friend, and 4 pairs for myself, and the pair that I'm working on now. Alright that's nine pairs. I already am planning on making another pair after these ones. :) I'm just a knit-a-holic.

Have you ever signed up for Sock Wars?

It's basically a knitting competition. If you sign up, you're sent a specific pattern and sizing chart for a pair o socks. You knit them as fast as possible, then mail them to a person who's name you were given. Once they get that pair in the mail, they've been "killed," and they have to mail you their half-finished pair of socks that they had been working on. You finish those and mail them to the person assigned, etc. But if you receive a pair of socks in the mail, you're "dead," and you have to mail your half-finished project to the person who killed you.

I've never done it, but it's always sounded like fun.

This is actually the first I've hear of it. I'll probably try it out next year.
It sounds like a lot of fun.
:) I've started another dog, in pink and black stripes. I have all the pieces knitted, I just have to sew up the seams and stuff and attach. I'll post a picture of it when I'm done. I'm actually making it for someone on Gaia...they're going to make me some cool art in exchange. :)
