Reno sighed and ran a hand through his hair.
"Why in the world did you think that?" He smirked.
"Don't you know how I work by now?" He hugged her again, gently this time.
"I'd have come looking for you, I'd have turned this whole city upside down to see you again."

Smiling softly, Danae nodded. "I know.. But still.."
She sighed. "Just in case, you know.. I didn't want the last thing you heard of me, to be crying."
Looking up to him with a soft look in her eyes, she giggled.
"And your promise."

She felt so stupid for bringing it up on the phone like she had. Damn. She wasn't dying yet! But with the way those three worked, who knew..

He thought a minute and sighed.
"So you wern't crying over the phone then?" He sighed and again ran a hand over his hair.
"You know, if it means letting you go off on your own, I'm starting to regret that I made that stupid thing."

He leaned down and kissed her forhead.
"But I'm happy to see you're alright now."

Danae made a face as he kissed her. She couldn't help but to think about how she'd promised those three she'd come back.. She wondered what Reno would do if he knew... Probably chain himself to her.
"I'm sorry.." She told him softly, looking down. "I just don't want them to hurt you..." Not anymore.

He frowned at her.
"Danae, you gotta learn, I'm practically indestructible, immortal? No. Indestructible? Yes. I can take most of what those goons dish out and then some..." He looked at her.
"How did you get away anyway? I'd figure hell would freeze over before you would get to come back here after they had you."

(Lol. XD *ignores*)

She sighed. He sure wasn't indestructible when he came back all bruised and battered up..
"Well, they just dropped me off a bit down the road."
Okay. She would be in the clear, unless he asked her why they dropped her off, and let her go so easily. And she just hoped he didn't...

Reno cocked his head.
"Just like that?" He looked away and ground his teeth.
"They killed a man...just for those few hours?!" He looked back and narrowed his eyes.
"What are you hiding Danae?" He asked softly.
"There's no way that that was it....there's no way that they'd fight that hard to capture you just to let you go that easily..."

Danae looked down. Well, it was all over now..
"I promised them I would go back..." She whispered to him.

Now, she didn't really want to go back... She would rather stay with Reno, duh.
But still. If it meant saving someone she loved, then she would do it in a heartbeat. And that was all.

"I'm not going to let them hurt anymore people.." She said softly. "Especially you.."

"Great...." Reno looked away, his hand going into his hair, he was going to go bald at this rate, Rude would think he was stealing his look.
"How long are they giving you?" He asked, because surely they wouldn't have let her go for an idefinate period of time.
He looked over and then pulled her tight to him.
"Danae.....you little idiot..." He chuckled.
"You worry too much about me, you know that....."

Danae rolled her eyes. Reno joked too much.. He really did. And calling her a little idiot right now, was not smart.
"Wow, thanks, Reno.." She said in a blunt voice.
She pushed away from him. "I'm going to talk to Rude," she stated, stepping into the larger part of the building. Not like Reno needed the little idiot around anyway..

"Rude!" She called out.

Reno looked after her as she left.
"What was that all about?"

Rude, who had just come from Teseng's office, looked around hearing his name.
"What?" He called back, not really seeing anyone around, and not recognizing the voice.
"I'm over here!"

Finding Rude in a matter of seconds, Danae smiled warmly at him. "Hi, Ape!" She said. Loz and Rude were both quite large, and ape-ish..
She hugged him gently.
"Did you miss me?" She asked him with a smile.

She just, somehow, wished Reno would grow up just a little bit. She loved his sense of humor, yes.. But not when it was mean! At least, not mean to her..

Rude blinked down, thinking that this was some sort of hallucination.
"Danae?" He asked hesitantly.
"Is that really you? What are you doing here?" He was so confused.

(I guess you don't care who I wanna kill off. XD)

Releasing Rude, she shrugged.
"Well, I am free." Free until they decided to raise hell, and come and retrieve her...
Of course, knowing Rude, he was going to ask her why they let her go.
No one could be stupid today..

"...............uh...well.....han...." Wow, it was the Gettysburg address all over again.
"WHY are you here....didn't you say last time we talked that you were with....whatshisface....Loz? and the other one.....crap....anyway, you said you were with Tweedledee and Tweedledum didn't you?"

She made a face. "I'm going back in a couple of days.." She looked down.
"I'm going back on my own free will," she told him.
She felt like crying. Sure, she loved Reno. But there was that possibility that they could kill her, right? Although, Loz sure didn't act like it... Ugh.

Rude stared at her, silent for a moment, then removed his glasses, and looked her in the eye.
"You haven't told Reno yet, have you?" He asked quietly.
"No...of course not....he'd most likely try to stop you....then what is this?" He cocked his head.
"A final farewell? Don't tell me that you're going back to them to die on us are you?"

Danae looked guilty. "I told him..."
But mainly, more than anything, because she just didn't want to lie to him.
She couldn't, really..
"I guess that's what it is. If I die, I die. I'm not letting everyone suffer due to my mistakes or whatever.."

Rude sighed...then brought his fist lightly down on Danae's head.
"You know that wasn't what I was wanting to hear right?" He asked, Rude cocked his head, and smiled...just a little, like when he first started to become fond of Danae.
"You should know that we aren't going to give you up that easily after you said something like that right?"

"Owwie!" Danae cried, rubbing the top of her head.
Why wouldn't they give up?
"You don't like me, I never see Elena, and I think Tseng wants to bitch-slap me again.."
The only one who really looked like he might miss the little idiot, was Reno..

Rude looked at her, his face almost comically contemplative.
"I like you, Teseng's always like that, Elena's having to take over our runs for the time being, and do you have anymore complaints?"
He crossed his arms waiting.

"Reno makes fun of me on a daily basis. And I don't see how you like me in the least bit. You make fun of me too.."
No one would notice if she were just to up and disappear.. Not the real world.
Just the Turks.

Rude feigned shock, then looked back at her.
"If we didn't tease you a little bit, then we wouldn't think of you as a freind." He said simply. Then he reached around her shoulders and took Danae's head into a gentle noogie.
"We just want you to feel like your one of us...you know?" He let her go and stood there, hands on his hips, a smile on his face.
"We've just started to get used to you kid, you can't die on us now."

She rolled her eyes.
"I never said I wanted to be one of you." Ouch.. That wasn't very nice.
"Besides, I think I might just go back now..."
Reno was being his usual, make-fun-of-anything-about-Danae-that-I-can-today.
So why stay..? If she died, she died.. Oh well.
She would die.

Rude's smile faded.
"No you didn't, but then again, Reno never asked to be shot going to try and help you did he?" Ow...painful stuff there, that memory.
"Danae, what you fail to realize, is that TURKS don't give up on something, we aren't defenders of justice or anything like that, we leave that mess to Strife and Gainsborough.
But what we do live by, is that once we take an intrest in something, we see it through to the end...and right now...that thing is you."
