Welcome to Dead City, formerly known as Jacobsville, Ohio (fictional to my knowledge). Currently I am recruiting. I NEED PLAYERS! heh. Anyway, here is the link for the recruiting thread.

http://www.menewsha.com/viewtopic.php?p=2860876#2860876

There you go. Anyway. I'll be posting some story for the city here. So, hopefully I'll have a frustratingly large amount of PMs with characters in them soon.

RULES
1. MENEWSHA RULES APPLY
2. Each player can only have ONE character.
3. No godmodding!!
4. If I pop in, and start up something that is really big and important, then all other RP needs to be put on hold, unless it is a really important character interaction.
5. Players can not control the zombies! They are mine.
6. There will never be in person NPCs unless characters reach a true safe zone, in that case, the characters are removed from play unless the player decides to have them NOT enter the safe zone. Although if your character does enter a safe zone you can make a new survivor using a secondary entrance point that is given the okay by me. Oh, and if your character reaches a safe zone, your new character will get something special. I.E. starting with a gun, having combat training, so on and so forth, but that is decided in a private discussion between me and the player.
7. Fights between two characters are resolved by me through a careful comparison of the two characters. I will tell each character the results through PM. Those messages will com complete with the reasons as to why, including situational, and those messages will ONLY COME FROM ME. If someone else tries to convince you otherwise then then you need to tell me immediately and I will remove their character from the game until a discussion is had. Players attempting to lie to other players about fights may be removed from the game entirely if it is needed. I.E. their character will die and they will not be allowed to make a new one, other characters will NOT be caught in the backlash of death events caused by character removal.
Note: When a fight does begin between two characters, I need to be notified BEFORE any serious fight posts are made, each player will be able to post three fight actions during the fight, and they will be taken into consideration for the results, when the results are figured, I will allow the victor to post the final fight post. Fight posts are to consist of any of these combinations of actions: three movement actions, or one move action and one attack action, or a defensive action and a move action, or two move actions and a speech action, or two speech actions and a move action.
Defensive action negates an attack action
Climbing a short object is one move action
Climbing a medium height object is two move actions.
Climbing a tall object is three move actions or more.
Your characters description, I.E. size, age, clothing style. All of these play a role in deciding whether or not you win or lose. So take that into careful consideration.
Fights against zombies will be very similar, only players will be posting fight posts though, I will PM players if their character has something bad happen to them. Alright, i think that about covers the rules, although I reserve the right to change them if needed.
8. One last rule! HAVE FUN!

EDIT: For those players that are currently okayed for playing, you can post in character, but the zombies have not made it to the town your in yet. They will not arrive until I post the event of their arrival.

Another Edit: YOUR CHARACTERS ARE NORMAL PEOPLE! THINK ABOUT HOW THE AVERAGE NON-MILITARY CHARACTER MIGHT REACT!
Sorry guys and gals, I know it can suck, but this IS supposed to be a horror survival game. :)

Edit: Character evolution (I.E. gaining skills, and so on) Can happen, it's all how you play it out, and for players that either
A. Do the right event to trigger it, or
B. Get six characters to safe zones
Get to make their next character a special type, but they have to talk to me while building the new character so it is done properly. Now you have some things to work towards. :)

June 1st, 2009, 10:32 AM.

This is CNN, and we are bringing you breaking news. Riots are breaking out in every major city across the globe. We will keep you posted on the development of the situation as we get information, for now lock your doors and stay away from your windows.

June 1st, 2009, 10:38 AM.
Again, roughly five minutes ago riots broke out in every major city across the globe simultaneously. We are receiving reports of large scale troop mobilizations in every country that is capable. We are also getting unconfirmed reports of.... wait... *the reporter turns away from the camera, touching his earpiece for a moment, muttering something, he slowly turns back, his skin is pale, he clears his throat.* The reports that I was getting a few minutes ago have been confirmed.... the rioters seem to be... eating the defense forces... god help us.

June 1st, 2009, 11:10 AM.
We are receiving reports that the dead have been.... the dead have been getting up and joining the riots. Suffice it to say folks, it seems we are looking at a dire situation indeed. We are receiving reports that head trauma seems to be able to stop them, we are also being told that everyone is to evacuate to the nearest mountain range or high elevation zone, as the infected seem to lack the coordination to move up a steep incline. I repeat, move to a high elevation as soon as possible. *a loud crashing noise in the background and distant screams* It seems we are experiencing technical difficulties, once we get them figured... Oh my god! *the camera gets knocked over by an unseen force, there are numerous screams, then the picture goes out.*

June 1st, 2009, 10:36 PM.
*A man is standing in the center of the screen, he is wearing a priest's outfit, he is standing in front a black curtain* My fellow man... we are in dark times....

*This story now belongs to you and the other survivors, will humanity survive, or will it be a flame snuffed out in the darkness?*

The Sheriff stared at his little TV in the station in disbelief for a few minutes.
"Aw, damnit, why'd my momma have t' go an' be right about the end o' the world..."
He made sure that his six shooter was loaded, threw on his duster and went outside, grabbing the loudspeaker on the way. He walked out to the stable and got Barbara, his horse.
"Come on girl, we gotta make sure tha townsfolk don't go a killin' each other. And why tha hell did Bobby have to go an' see his family in California, I could use his help."
The Sheriff made his way through the streets, having to pacify an amazingly small amount of townsfolk, once he had some basic things in order, he headed out to the farmlands to pass information on to the few homes that didn't have televisions.

Running late again, running late..every other day or so Cody managed to find himself in the same situaton, His alarm would be blasting enough to wake the dead only to be shut off by his heavy right hand, This time was a little different the clock was now in a few peices after being swated and hitting the wall. He had fallen back asleep only to have his phone going off with his boss on the other end "Hey, you comeing to work today" With the sound of his boss laughing over the other end Cody jumped out of bed only to throw on what ever cloths were closest to him and he was out the door, in his Blazer and on his way to work. His sunglasses took the glare of the morening sun as the CD in his CD player roared to life as The Crystal Method's Trip like I do blared out of his speakers.

It wasnt to long before his truck was parked and he was in the back of the Heart Shopping Center were the forklift was running and a truck was waiting to be unloaded. Seeing his boss who was laughing when he saw the towering form of Cody comeing close he walked up to him and slapped him on the left shoulder. "Hey glade you could make it, Thanks for comeing in today" After slapping his shoulder again his boss walked away still laughing only to make Cody grin sightly.

Kairana glared at the TV screen. "Oh, yes, you would, wouldn't you?" she said, to no-one in particular. Or maybe it was the TV she was talking to. Or perhaps what was obviously a zombie that was being shown on the screen. "Not that it's going to affect me, of course, nothing ever does. My boring world," she said, rolling her eyes sarcasticaly.

Kairana had just been arguing with her best friend over the cellephone about half an hour ago, and was still simmering. "Boy, it doesn't take much to set you off, does it?" her friend, Sally, had said. Sally had just been dumped by her boyfriend, someone whom Kairana had said looked like No Good in the first place, and Sally was mad at her for being right, and it was showing. Sally wasn't one to show defeat, and if she had to, she always made as many other people as posible to look bad, so as not to draw attention to herself. Kairana hadn't been giving her an 'I-told-you-so' atittude, - wasn't going to, either - at least, not until Sally had started off.

So, here was Kairana, in a store, with - of course - TVs on, and the news of a zombie attack on every channel just wasn't the thing to make her day.

Riley Remmington, age 15 was sitting on a barstool, digging into her apple pie as she watched the television mounted in the top corner of the diner. As the news channel played, she had dropped her fork, when the zombies had been shown on screen. It was truly something that she thought she would only see in movies. She wondered what was to become of the city next as she had picked up her utensil again and finished up her last bites. "I'd like the bill right about now." The waiter nodded and came back with the bill. Riley slapped a ten dollar bill on the plastic tray, telling the waiter to keep the change.

She really wondered what to do now that the world was pulling a Resident Evil. She wondered where the zombies were now, probably not in this quiet town yet. She took out her cellphone and dialed the number of one of her close free runners. "Hey you hear about what just happened on the news?" Yeah, I saw it as I was trying to attempt a pole vault on the reservoir. These kids were watching it on their laptop. "So what to do now? Just be out and about or you want to get over here and wait for our doom?" Who says that we'll be hit? Maybe those things will head over to a real city instead. "Good point, but I still want you here. The place is full of people who won't let me play around. The city is my canvas, and this is part of the city."

The horde was slowly traveling east, through the plains and hills. A few of the quicker ones up front stopped and started sniffing at the air. They let loose a chorus of moans and shifted direction as it echoed through the ranks. Now they were headed south-east.
Within the horde were some that carried various simple weapons like axes, pipes, clubs, even some knives.
This sea of death made it's way towards the little farming town.

The sheriff, after making his rounds in the farmlands and helping people prepare, stepped into the diner and saw Riley. He knew Riley was a good kid at heart, she kind of reminded him of his own daughter that he had lost.
"Hello Riley, you stayin' outta trouble are ya? I'm not useta' seein' you in tha diner when I step in here fer my lunch. You stayin' safe?" Shaw sat at a barstool a couple seats down from her and ordered some coffee.

Early that day, Andres was taking his usual jog due to the fact that he would have to babysit later on that evening. Unlike most days, the track had been completely desserted. Even under these circumstances, Andres continued his four lap jog. Upon finishing, Andres could hear horrible shrieks and he could see the his algebra teacher, Mr. Felcher, dashing and screaming into his car. A bit stunned and scared by his teacher's reaction, he headed towards the front office.

Just like the track field, the front office was abandoned. Concerned and bemused by his fellow students rushing to the buses and cars. He soon saw most of the buses pull out in a hurry, followed by numerous cars rushing towards the nearby highway.

Not knowing what to do and being one of the last few people on campus, Andres decided to call the Sheriff for information on what was going on.

After his coffee arrived and he waited for the girl's response, he sipped at it, and his cellphone rang, he quickly answered it, spilling his coffee down his front while he turned it on, allowing Andres to hear his curses.
"AW! Damnit! Thats some hot coffee! Hello? Ya, Uh-huh, kid, you need to turn on the news, its tha end times, as I reckon, we jus' happen t' be a bit outta the way of it. Right now I'm at the diner an' I was drinkin' some coffee till you called, an' if'n yer that worried get yer ass to the diner an' I'll bring home." Shaw hang up the phone, obviously more irritated than worried.

As Andres turned off his phone he turned on the local news from the television in the principal's office. "I still don't understand what he was saying. The world comming to an end? I've never heard of such a thing!" said Andres, perplexed by Shaw's response to his call. As he turned on the news, all he could see was chaos. An innocent man could be seen being torn to shreds by the decaying figures. Andres turned off the television, hesitated, then fell to the ground. "H.. How could something so illogical be happening?!" Soon, realizing sitting there wasn't doing him much good, he took a deep breath and used his practice for the upcoming track and field match and ran as fast as he could to the nearby diner.

Getting closer to the populated area, Andres began a paced jog into the Diner. Panting, he opened the door and sat on the nearby bench. He was relieved to see that he wasn't the only one there and took a short moment to catch his breath before realizing he needed to contact his neighbor, Mrs. Dawson, and see if her two kids and herself are doing okay. "Hello, we aren't home right now. If you leave your name and number, we promise to get back to you as soon as possible! Bye!" Andres closed his phone. "Please let them be alright."

Feeling like all he could do was wait, he sat on the bench and rested. Soon, he noticed Shaw and went up to him to ask if he knew anything else on the current situation. "Shaw, d..do you think it'll reach us soon?" he said studdering.

Shaw had headed outside shortly after the call. When Andres walked up, he just stared the boy in the eye.
"You a boy, or a lily-livered yella' belly? Suck it up kid. I know youra scared. Hell, I am to. But you can't let it get to ya, ya gotta suck it up so ya can deal with it IF they git here kid. An' remember, that's a big if. We're out here in the middla nowhere. My guess is that the end o' the world is gonna pass right on by, an' if it don't, I plan on havin' the town ready. Git yer ass to the station an' wait for me, I'm gonna try an git more people there, if those sick son's a' bitches git here, then we'll all be ready if I can help it." Shaw turned and walked towards his horse, untying her and jumping into the saddle. He turned and spurred her down the road, towards the shopping mall.

The mass of undead moved towards the hills that surrounded the valley that Jacobsville lied in. At almost one thousand strong, the horde could easily decimate the small farming community.

Unless it's certainly ill prepared defenders play their cards right.

Riley was about to respond when the sheriff had to leave. Earlier she was on her phone, still trying to get an answer from one of her friends, Eric. The station? Well it looks like we're really playing RE now. She dialed the number for Eric again, but this time he answered. "Where are you Eric? I've been calling you, yet you haven't answered." There was an edge in her voice, maybe because she was scared, or maybe because she just wanted to run away again. Sorry geez, it's just that my mom caught up with me and she's making me go back home. Eric get off the phone! Looks like I've got to go He hung up with a click and then she was back where she started.

What to do now? I suppose I could go and try to run to the next city, but that would take too long. Stay here and fight? I might actually die from that too. This is one of those times where I would want some prophetic old man. Riley sighed and walked out of the diner, deciding to head over to the Heart Shopping Center to see if she could find anyone else who was actually worried about the whole deal.

As he made his way towards the mall, he noticed an alarmingly small amount of people on the streets or even in their homes. Cars were gone and it looked like most locals had tried to hastily pack their homes up and leave town.
"Blasted yella' bellies. Seems like I only git ta try and help tha kids 'round here. Damned adults took off, fer the most part."
He turned the horse to continue and noticed Riley headed the same way as him, so he waited for her, looking at her as she walked near him.
"'Ello again little lady. Wanna lift ta tha shopping center? Or ya headed somewhere else?"

Kairana wasn't worried about her family. She knew they would be fine. Jake had all his guns, and he'd been teaching all the little ones how to use them. She wished she had taken up on his offer to let her borrow his smallest hand-gun, but she hadn't felt like it would be needed. He had also offered to send Billy, his oldest son, with her, but she had turned down that offer too.

Now she really felt stupid. How long could she last out here? It wasn't safe to travel, but...

So she decided to stick around, maybe help if she could. She would call up her family later, be sure they were fine, and re-explain to Toby why he needed to let Janie bottle-feed Black, the new-born kid whose mother had died two weekd after he was born. Jake and Rose had let Toby name the kid for them, because he wanted so deperatly to name one.

Jacobsville was becoming more empty by the minute, and now the shops were closing. The main shopping center staying open under an order from Sheriff Shaw as a possible safe haven if things hit home. The sun is starting to set as well.

"....Yes, that's all. Be careful. I love y'all. Bye now!" Kairana hung up her 'phone. She sighed as she stuffed back into her backpack.

"Hand-operated can-opener, silver-ware, canned foods, frozen veggies, lighters, matches..."

Kairana sighed again. Check-lists could be boring sometimes, but it made things easier.

"... Chocolate, tea-bags, kettle, Helena's wooden mugg, Sharp Pointy Object... Wait, did I even bring that? Oh, yes, I see it now...."

Kairana went outside. The wind was blowing hard into her face. It looked like was going to rain soon.
"I'd beter get Tucker in," she said, and went out to collect her horse.

Cody didnt know how long it had been sence the panic started to spread throughout the store. When the panic started to set in most of the workers took off leaveing the Heart Shopping Center almost empty. Not worrying about what was comeing figureing that with his size and strength he could easily fend off anything that came after him.Weather he could or not he was hopeing he didnt have to take that gamble.

After shutting the back doors and lowering the iron curtains that are used for their security Cody leaned up against the wall. "Man deffinily should have quit smokeing, It would be good right now." Shrugging his shoulders he headed back into to the main part of the store were he last saw his boss. After looking around the isles and office he didnt find him anywere but his safe behind the desk was open and the pistol that was kept their was gone. "Damn moron, always freaks out about everything." Shakeing his head Cody went into the main room again before he headed to the front doors that were still open. Leaning against the door frame his bulky body blocked off most of the view from inside he crossed his arms over his chest and stood their watching out into the streets that were normaly busy at this time.

Although Andres was fustrated by Shaw's response to him, he knew that everything he said was true. If he was going to survive, or even have a chance to, he would have to suck it up and pull it together. "I guess I better head off to the station. Hopefully someone will be there." Andres sighed and placed his phone in his back pocket. "But in case anything does happen, I better be ready." Andres reached for his tazor and began his path towards the station.

Riley chuckled to herself when she saw the sheriff for the second time. "I suppose I could use one, I'm heading over there myself." She hoisted herself onto the back of the horse as the sheriff had finished asking. It's times like these that I'd really wish that I was able to find Eric. She sighed and shook her head.

Andres ran up the drive way of the station and entered through the double doors. "I better take a quick rest." He leaned himself against the wall adjacent to the entrance. "I wonder how many people are still in this town?" Sighing, Andres walked over to a nearby water fountain and splashed water against his red, sweaty face and took a quick drink.

Unsure if anyone else was residing in the station, Andres yelled in hopes of hearing a response. "Hello!!If anyone is there, please report near the entrance!" Waiting for some sort of response, Andres continued to lean up against the wall.

There was not an answer when Andres called out inside the station. And it was getting dark now. The door into the holding cells was locked, and anyone in there wouldn't know what is going on, as there is no TV.

Posting as: Sheriff Shaw

The Sheriff looked around the street as he got Riley to the shopping center, he helped her down, looking at her with sincere concern.
"You gonna be alright little lady? If you head to the station with me then I could git ya somethin' ta protect yerself with."
As he finished his sentence, there was a sound from one of the now vacant houses, accompanied by some movement by the window, although there was no sound, Shaw drew his six shooter, looking at the house, and with the other hand he reached back for Riley.
"Little lady, ya may want ta git back on the horse...."

Posting as: Zombie Horde
As the horde made it's way through the wooded hills surrounding the valley, they suddenly in unison fell over, limp. Shortly thereafter, about a dozen shadowy shapes emerged from the mass of "sleeping" undead, and without a sound they swiftly closed the gap between Jacobsville and the horde.

"No sweat sheriff. I can find all I need here. I'll head to the-" She stopped mid-sentence when there was some sound from a house. "Oh snaps, I picked a bad day to be in town." She grabbed the sheriff's hand and got back on the horse. She put her hands in her pockets, idly searching for anything she had on hand. All she could find was a wallet, a cellphone and a few paper clips. Goddammit! If only I had a lighter and some hairspray or even Axe, I could distract them or whatever.
