It pays to have caller ID now a days. That way you can have something to use to turn those horrible people in. And do not answer unknown numbers.
If it is important they will call back or leave a message on the answering machine.

Your never supose to say "that your parents are not home" Its a give away that your alone. >.> My mother drilled it into me, you say "they can't come to the phone now,"
The man either picked up the number in a phone book, or found it on the web *shiver* It would probably be best not even bothering to answer the phone and let it go to the message box.

Gosh I never got a phone call like that. Sometimes you get people who dail the wrong number but I just say "sorry, but I think you dailed the wrong number." The only other calls I get are telemarketers and I either go sorry we already have that already (we actaully might) or just randomly hang up. I can't stand talking to them. The only time I remember getting prank calls was when I was in about 6th grade and it was some stupid teenage boys.

Oh god, that's so scary. ; ___;
Well on the topic of creepy experiences, this doesn't have to do with a phone, but like in person.
One day in May or June last year I was walking home from school and this ghetto kid was like 'Hey' and I ignored him, but then he kept calling for me and I was afraid he'd follow me if I didn't answer. So I said 'What?' and he was insisting we be friends and whatnot and I was like 'I'll never even see you again' and he was still being all insistent. It took like a half an hour.
I finally just gave up and he gave me his number and told me to call him right then so he could get my number. e_e; So I really couldn't do anything, I was afraid he was gonna beat me up. xD
So I did and he got my number because of it. ._.;
When I got home I told my mom. xD And she freaked out. When he called me later that day I ignored the call and deleted his number. :3 I haven't heard from or seen him since.
BUT ANOTHER time some really tall ugly dude just stopped me while I was walking home and asked me what I was listening to. (I had my headphones on) And I told him and then he was asking me how good the basketball team at my school was because he was thinking of transfering to that school. (He didn't even look or dress like a high school kid. e_e) And he ended up just taaalking to me about the most inane boring shit. Dx And RIGHT when my street came up he was like 'Lemme guess you live in Raritan (Which is the town nearby which my house is CLOSE to but not quite there) and I made the mistake of being like 'No I live on this street'
xDD;; GOD I CAN'T HANDLE STUFF LIKE THAT.
And everyday I went out by myself I was afraid I would see him. And then i forgot about him for a few months and one day I went to the walgreens to pick up poster paper, and I was like 'What if he shows up?' and HE DID. And he was like 'Hey, how are you?' And I was like 'Tired. I'm going home to nap and then help my mom with chores' and then I just left and as I was walking he was like 'Kay, have a nice nap'
xD;;; He was SO creepy. He could have been a genuinely nice guy, but I'm so paranoid. xD
I haven't seen him since though, so hopefully I won't ever. >>

The first situation sounds like something that happened to me in college last year. I was walking down the hall to one of my classes, and this guy stopped me and asked for my number. Like WTF. I didn't even know him, we didn't know anything about each other, and he just randomly asked for my number. So I ignored him and kept walking and then he got his friends to block the way and his stupid friend was all, "Hey my friend wants your number." And I was in a hurry and I was afraid they were going to make me late for my class so I just gave it to him so I could get the hell out of there. I wish I'd had time to think of a fake number but it took me by surprise. So I went to my class and then later when I got home he called me and he sounded like the biggest retard ever. x_x Like, he sounded like he wasn't real bright. And he wanted to know if I would meet him somewhere, I couldn't even figure out where the heck he was asking me to meet him. So I told him no because I was working on my homework and I hung up. Plus the fact that I've got a boyfriend and have no interest in meeting this loser anywhere or talking to him at all. I think he called back the next day too and I didn't answer. But after he called I got on my house phone, and dialed *67 because I sure as hell didn't want him getting that number as well, and called him back. I went on Youtube and found the annoying as hell Head On commercial and played it into the phone. And that is how I got rid of him. :D He never called me again. And I avoided that area of the hallway I had seen him in for the rest of that semester. x_x I also went online and found the rejection hotline number and saved it to my phone, so that if anything like this ever happens again, I'll be ready to give them that number instead.

Ohhh! Prank calls are kind of creepy...depending. There is the harmless kind and then there is the messed up kind that you don't want to get. I'm in college but we recently got a phone call and my little sister who is 11 answered it. And the guy was saying, "Do you want to ride it?" over and over...and you know what he means by that I'm sure. He called back 3 more times. Luckily my little sister thought he said something like, "Are you ready." Although I'm not sure how she could have mistaken it...but I'm glad she didn't hear the REAL thing.
Then after he called back a 4th time my mom answered and was like, "Who is this." And he started saying stuff like, "Hey baby...blah blah blah..." She told him to stop calling, and if she did call again she planed on having this whistle (which she already got out) and she was just going to blow it really hard in his ear. ^^ Honestly, people say that if you keep getting a call that is the best thing to do, blow a whistle in the phone.

My best friend has recently gotten these weird, disgusting text messages and phone calls from someone who says that they want to um... "_____ her so bad" and stuff. She didn't know who it was, and she finally forces them to tell her who it is, they say that their name is Robert Quackenbush. xD!
I was on the phone with her at the time, anyway, and I guess he kind of sounded like an eleven-year-old kid who hasn't even gone through puberty yet. xD
Umm, anyway, it is really weird, and he says he got her cell number from this boy we go to school with, so she called that boy and nobody answered, then his house called her back and when she answers, he hangs up on her.
...xD
Weird stuff, eh?
Soo. Robert Quackenbush is still quite the mystery. :] Hahaha<3!

That was pretty creepy. I hope you told your parents, just in case he tried calling again.
This wasn't a creepy story, per se, but I used to work at CVS when it was still called Arbor Drugs and I used to work the photo counter. The phone was on our table, so it was up to us to answer phone calls, too. Well, one night the phone rings and the girl I was working with picks it up. She does the usual greeting, "Hello, thank you for calling Arbor Drugs, this is *name*. How may I help you?" She then gets this look on her face and waves me over. It turned out to be some guy wanting phone sex. XD Even though he knew we weren't a sex line.
And for creepy real life encounters, when I worked the copy center at Office Depot, we had this regular customer. He was an older man, and nice enough, but he was constantly hitting on us girls. Always holding our hands when we handed him his papers, general flirting, stuff like that. Innocent enough, but it made me uncomfortable because I don't really like to be touched. One night I was helping one of the new girls on the register, and he comes up behind me, wraps his arm around me, and gives me this big, sloppy kiss on my neck. Needless to say, I made sure I was behind the counter from then on when he came in. x_x
