So if there's a thread on this already, please forgive me.
Anyway, the Season 2 Finale just aired on the 4th, and I wanted to discuss it with my fellow Menewshians! ;3
What did you guys think of it?
I thought...It was extremely sad. I mean, sadder than anything that's happened so far. I did not see it coming when Tosh died. I thought Jack and the others would get there in time to save her ): I was devastated when she died.
And then Owen and Tosh's conversation was just heartbreaking. But...I still find a way to adore this episode. It was so full of emotion, and action, it all came together amazingly.
So. Thoughts?

I cried my eyes out when Toshiko died. She was my personal favourite character.
It was all so emotional hearing Toshiko and Owen's last conversation.
Any news of a new series? Who will fill Toshiko's shoes as the computer hacker? Let's face she was a whitehat hacker.

There's a general thread on Doctor Who and Torchwood but I hope this is specific enough to stay so we can talk without having to hold back on spoilers.
I loved the scene between Toshiko and Owen. I think it was especially poignant that he said "Thank you" just to show that after all this time he hadn't really taken Tosh for granted and he did appreciate her even if he didn't feel the same way she felt for him.
I think the only letdown of the episode was Gray. I don't know what Lachlan Nieboer is usually like as an actor but either that character wasn't interesting or he wasn't because he was completely outclassed by John Barrowman and James Marsters. Otherwise, even as a complete Torchwood fangirl, I have to admit the entire second series has been so much better than the first. My opinions of the characters have completely changed and it was genuinely sad to lose anyone.
+ There's a nice interview with Naoko Mori at DigitalSpy and elsewhere on the website they say the third series is 'a cert' but it's just a case of when it's going to be announced.

Well it is specifically about that one episode and it does say so in the title so if anyone who hasn't seen the second series doesn't want to know how it ends, they shouldn't be in here.
I can't see anything the mods would get upset about.
Grey was a bit strange. So much anger in him compared to the love that Jack had and the compassion that John had.

Heh I mean, the mods could say "There's already a Doctor Who and Torchwood thread!" and lock this but (personally) I think there's a good enough reason for this thread to stay.
I think more could have been explained about Gray to give him a little more depth. I know there was some explanation in Adam about their childhood but that was still mostly about Jack. However, I loved the twist that Captain John was really a good guy, or any in case he really did love Jack.

I adored this episode! It totally made up for what (I think) has been a bit of a lack luster series with the exception of a few episodes...
I cried my eyes out when Tosh and Owen died, I agree that Tosh's death was totally unexpected, I thought they were going to save her! And their conversation was heartbreaking, I don't think I've cried this hard at a tv show since Doomsday D:
Grey was a bit wierd, but I think he pulled of the emotionally damaged and slightly insane well... he'd been through so much pain that I can understand why he'd go insane, but it broke my heart to see him hurt Jack like that D: ugh, it was so terrible when they buried Jack alive and he didn't struggle, he just accepted it
John was brilliant, the twist was amazing and James Marsders did a fantastic job, I want him to stick around and be on the team in season 3 XD There's only three left now... GAH! I miss Tosh and Owen already, they were such amazing characters!!
So yeah, I thought the action and all the subplots coming together worked really well, apart from all the heartbreaking stuff I loved the episode... I can hardly wait for season 3, but at least we get new Doctor Who to make up for it

I spent a good hour or so being really really bummed out at that ending. Unfortunately, some [email protected]#$% over on Gaia who doesn't know how to block out spoilers spilled the beans about Tosh and I read it before I realized what it was. But, still, I was kinda surprised they did it. It was pretty obvious since Dead Man Walking that that was where they were going with Owen, but Tosh was really out of the blue. They both went out well, though. Heroes, both.
Grey was a little "meh" in places. Kinda boring, kinda dull character, kinda blah-blah acting. But I think part of that may be colored by the fact that I heard the fake American accent slip quite badly a number of times (they were trying to make him match Barrowman's American mid-west accent and being a mid-westerner myself, it grated a bit). Over all, I've been impressed with the accent work on all three of the Whoniverse shows, so this was a little bit of a let-down.
I thought this series was way better than series one. The character interactions were deeper and not just hooking up for the sake of hooking up and proving that it was a more adult show than Doctor Who. There were actually relationships going on. And the stuff they did with Owen was amazing! If they had dragged that story line out into the next series, he might have become my favorite character. He may still, as I rewatch things. Ianto also went way up in my view. I mean, he grew a spine! And his relationship with Jack was a lot more meaningful as well. Same with Gwen's relationship with Rhys.
Kudos to the production team, all around. Great series!
