I am now very sorry I joined. I thought this was a lot simular to Gaia. But it only ended up being a cheep knockoff. Works only in Firefox. What is up with that? You have a naked avi until you can afford 100+ gold witch will take forever. Gaia at least gives you one outfit when you join. I hate to say it but this sight really Bites!! Big Time!

A knockoff?
So not true

They don't want to give everyone gold and clothes because people will start making mules and then send it to their main avi

And the Gaia beginning outfits are sooo lame!!!
I hate those outfits

Menewsha is better, Gaia isn't Gaia anymore
Its jus a site for all these ads

You just have to keep talking and posting to make gold
Look at me, I got all these items because I talked
And I was never donated anything!!!
I work for these items, I was only donated like 3-5 times, but that was this year

I think it's good you have to work here to get some gold and so good clothes. Then you can be proud of your work ^^

And I can just agree with sith... the starter Clothes on gaia are kinda ugly... then I like it the way it is here better *nods to himself*

Sorry we dont like to pamper new members here, we treat everyone the same. We all start with nothing and will always be that way, we take pride in what we wear as we work for it.

Knock-off? Dear, your clearly uneducated when it comes the sites like this, we all have the same concept yet each of us is different, and also gaia wasn't the first site to have this idea of dress up avatars. It was the first to succeed yes, but it wasn't the first. So please, get your facts straight before accusing anyone of 'knocking' or 'ripping' off something

This site clearly pwns Gaia.
Inflation is insane on there b/c of a Marketplace.

From what I understand we discourage hoarding.
Gaia is full of adds and it runs so slowly now.

The items are also getting lamer and lamer.
Menewsha has no lame items, just items I don't want to wear.
In my opinion the artists here are WAY better than Gaias.

It takes an hour to make 100 gold if you put the effort forth. I make 200 gold a day, 300 or more if I'm particularly active.

I feel badly that the site isn't up to your personal standards. Maybe you'll return another day and think differently, maybe not. Either way, you're free to do as you choose.

Well sorry that you feel this way, but no Menewsha is not a cheap knock off. First of all, the cheapest item is about 30gold, not 100+. Second, this site wants users to work for their clothing. Anyway, if you posted more, then you could make gold easily. Finally, Gaia isn't the only avatar site in the freaking universe, there are others like Zantarni or Avarica.

How is Menewsha a cheap knockoff? Mene and Gaia are the same type of sites, but they're completely different.

The site still works in IE from what I understand, just not 100%. You should be using FF anyway. >_>

I'd much rather run around naked than in those hideous fucking clothes Gaia starts you off with. It really doesn't take that much to get gold if you put a little bit of effort into your posts. I had a decent outfit shortly after joining Mene.

Sorry, we don't like handouts here; in case you hadn't gotten it from the other responses, we like the idea of having to work for your items. The sense of accomplishment after making your first real avatar is wonderful. :3

Wow...when new users post things like this it really makes me see how short sighted and probably young/immature they are. I used to play gaia but after I found out about Menewsha I was like...wow! I can tell that the site is new, but the art here is SO much better and the community is SO much nicer and willing to actually help their users. On gaia you can get away with so much. The staff here cares about the community.

...and as many users before me, you need to get your facts straight if you think this is a knockoff of gaia...I actually did laugh out loud when I read that. Sometimes new users are so blind because compared to gaia we don't have flashing advertisements or stuff saying 'give us all your money!' everywhere.

As for starter cloths...the starter cloths on gaia = UGLY!! You don't start with anything here because we believe in making everything on your own. No free rides, plus if there WERE starter sets or you started out with 'X' amount of gold then users could potentially create user after user and just transfer it to their main account...cheat the system...however, I doubt that would be the case here...unlike gaia our users are generally very honest.

I agree that if you expected this site to be the same as Gaia it's not. That doesn't mean it's bad though...or a cheap knock off. It must not be the place for you though. Good luck elsewhere.

I much prefer this site to places like Gaia. Mene is so much more personal and friendly - you don't feel lost in a crowd here! It's sad that you have such negative feelings towards it, but I guess if you aren't going to enjoy yourself her it is much better for you to leave and find a place that does suit your ideals of a site like this better.

I never understand why people want sites to be like Gaia. Gaia already exists. Why would you want another one just like it? I say viva la difference!

Anyway I am sorry you didn't give Mene a chance. You missed out on something truly special. Maybe someday you will change your mind and give it another chance. If not, I wish you well with whichever site you choose to call home. Take care.

I'm sorry this site wasn't to your tastes.

Anyway, like others have pointed out, Mene isn't a cheap Gaia knock-off. Gaia wasn't the first avatar site out there, just the first one that hit it big. This is an avatar site, yes, but that's where the similarities end. Would you say Google was a Yahoo rip-off just because it's a search engine?

Yes, I do think this site was inspired by Gaia, like all the younger avatar sites out there. But Mene is very different from Gaia, so you shouldn't compare sites here. If you want something like Gaia, then play Gaia!

Starter clothes aren't such a big deal. Everyone starts out naked, so it's just fair for everyone. If you had starter clothes, would you be happy with them? I don't think so. You'd still want to earn gold to get some other clothes.

As far as the art goes, I think it's so much better here than on Gaia. When I took a look at the Gaian avatars after a long break, their artwork just sucks compared to Mene's.

I've made quite a few websites myself, so I can tell the problem with IE isn't the coders' fault. Firefox complies to open web standards while IE doesn't. So from my experience I can tell you, it's hard to make a site that works well in IE because IE just doesn't work right, while pretty much all the other browsers do work right. Special coding is needed just because IE is buggy. IE's bugs aren't the Mene devs' fault.

well...it's true gaia has a lot more people and stuff and it's got better games and those chat thingies...but i like mene better currently. gaia is waaay overcrowded with too many insensitive idiotic jerks posting random stuff in forums >.>; mene has more of a constructed staff and rules and is better for *cough*mature*cough* peoples ^_^; although mene should improve their games which kinda sucks....but otherwise i like dis site :D
@AnamCara-yes i agree, it kinda feels like Mene was inspired from Gaia...

I am sorry you feel that way, but I am also very against your opinion for reasons previously stated.

Also, this site does work in IE, however it is set up under firefox, that is true. It will not remain that way however. The lead coder on this site, Ken, is working on making it compatable with IE, FF, And Safari. I know you guys are sick of hearing, but most of the site layout problems people are having will be fixed in the new software.

The developers are working on making this site a lot more attractive and fun, with some new ways to earn gold. However, I desperately hope this site doesn't start pampering people, also previously stated. I like how we all come in with nothing. It makes us more likely to start participating in the community.

Once again, I am sorry for your views, but I will not agree with them.

*Yawn* Oh wow..

Are there still people out there that thinks Gaia is the only avatar site on the web. *Giggles* What foo's!

Gaia is a whorish site that lures you in with promises of Halos and Devil tails and once you Sign up all you get is a bit of gold and poorly pixeled outfit for n00bs.

Gaia isn't even the BEST avatar site on the web...It's the biggest. Bigger doesn't mean better.

Menewsha is waaaaay better than Gaia![/glare]

Gaia has banned me four times for no reason; I've been scammed, hacked, and lost over 2 million gold as of January 22, 2008 and $25. The mods, etc. there don't even care about us. Gaia is full of ads, spammers, flamers, trolls, etc. And I'm sick of people saying that Roliana and Menewsha are knock offs of Gaia! Gaia wasn't the first! Also, wouldn't Gaia be a knock off of Neopets?!
Apparently, this is not the site for you. Anyways, Gaia is full of botters and they can't tell the difference between bot and human! This site is still new and Gaia is what?! Like six years old!

Wow.
There are a lot of strong opinions in this thread.
hehe

I'm sorry that you are disappointed with the site, WitchyFairy.
Efforts to make this site more compatible with other browsers will be made.
I have difficulty changing my hair using Internet Explorer here.
I'm not sure of the other complications for browsers.
They seem to differ between each individual computer because I know people who can customize their avatar's hair on IE.

Earning gold gets easier with time, but again it varies with the individual.
I enjoy posting more than gaming or exchanging so I can afford clothes more quickly on Menewsha than Gaia.

Mene's purpose is not to compete with Gaia.

If you don't like it, you can leave.
