Today, April 10th, is ASPCA Day. A day to recognize all the hard work the ASPCA has done to protect and save animals, and also a day to raise awareness of the abuse and mistreatment of animals. Everyday there are reports of animal cruelty AROUND THE WORLD. Neglect and abandonment being the most frequent crimes.

So please don some orange for today in support of the ASPCA and to help raise awareness on animal cruelty. Even by raising awareness you can help prevent these crimes from happening. Thank you.

It's a pity I don't have and Mene orange to wear - but I am in orange pyjamas, if that counts! I'm an animal lover, but I don't have any rescue stories myself. My mother, however, has four cats, and each was the runt of the litter. It's generally the runts that get tossed or slaughtered, and she believes in giving them a fighting chance at life. She did briefly have five, but sadly one was too undernourished by the time she got him and he passed away after a week from illness, being too weak to fight it off.

Aww, thats sweet. My mom was always fond of the runts. ^^; My dog when I got her was the runt. She was only 7 weeks old and was underweight compared to her brothers. They kept pushing her away from the food so she was really tiny. But then I took her home and shes all grown up. ^^ We did have problems with her eating too fast when she was little,(like gulp it down, get sick, puke, and then rush to eat it again ;.; ) but thankfully shes over that now and a wonderfully healthy dog.<3

aw how sweet <3 Both of my kitties came from my local SPCA. <3 They're such dolls. XD <3
and when we are ready for a puppy we will probably be adopting one from there as well.

Hehe, the only orange I have is halloween stuff, but I don't mind being off season. My grandma has been volunteering at the humane society for as long as I can remember. She always fosters cats and dogs too. It's volunteering, but she does it full time.

I've always loved to go help her even when I was only old enough to lick stamps for flyers and play with cats. Now I like to go clean the rooms and take pictures of them for the website(and still play with the cats xD)I'm so thankful for my grandma because I probably wouldn't have started volunteering without seeing someone else doing it first.

I think I'll wear a lot of orange today and tell anyone about it who asks. Other than that...I plan to keep volunteering and keep being a vegetarian to help a little with slaughterhouse and factory farm animal abuse.

Everytime I go to my shelters website they have a lot of animals but hardly any pictures. :/ I wonder if they would let me take pictures of the animals they have so that more people would see the pets and go awwww. <3

there were only two cats with photos when we went down to get our cats. and we didn't get either of them since Pumpkin was so much cuter.

I dont have any Orange to wear, but i have adopted from the SPCA before. The dogs name was Bridgett and her owner had cancer so they had to put her up for adoption. She was a purebred, supposedly springer spaniel...but i think she was a different kind of spaniel because she was HUGE not fat huge but tall and whatnot. Anywho, my mom and dad either found out about her or decided they wanted another dog and my mom saw her and fell in love....she was a really older dog too we only had her for like 3-4 years, but that didnt stop my mom! :D She was a good doggie though and im glad we got to spend a few years with her so she didnt have to spend them in the shelter or get put to sleep due to not being adopted from her age...i think they were going to put her to sleep soon too because she was there for almost a month and she was so much older than most of the dogs there she didnt have much hope :/ But yea, i live with my boyfriend now and whenever we get a house/condo or an apartment that allows pets we're going to see about adopting before we go to a breeder :)

I watch those pet police shows where they catch people who are mistreating animals and sometimes I can't even watch it all because it just breaks your heart to see what people do out of ignorance or even to make money off them. People hurt other people and that's not right but at least humans can do something about it. We can get help or maybe we even provoked the incident. o.O But animals are innocent, they didn't intentionally do anything to make people abuse or neglect them and they have no way of getting any help on their own. Its heart wrenching. T_T People are sick to do that to animals! D<

The only orange thing I have is my hallopop but I will gladly wear it in honor if this special day. =3

ASPCA is such an awesome organization. I'm glad they're there to step in when things get out of hand and give a new life to mistreated pets. : D

Oh cool. I never knew they had a day. I think it's definitely a good thing, and a good organization. Two stray cats have shown up at our doorstep in the last year or two and now they are part of the family. Cosmo(Gizmo) and Rusty. Support your local Humane Society and rescue a dog, cat, bird, rabbit, guinea pig, whatever - adopt!

Aww that is awesome I did not know about this day! I am glad such an awesome organization like ASPCA exist. And animal evil doers should all perish.

^^ Honestly I found out through the commercials they've been playing on Animal Planet. Then I went to the website they offer ASPCADay.Org and learned some more. I definatly wanted to help spread the word since I fully encourage what they do for our community and our animals.

I watch those Animal Cop shows all the time too! Sometimes I will be bawling my eyes out and my husband asks why I torture myself like that. v.v;; But lately they have been showing on my lunch break so I watch it with my pup in my lap. She loves watching Animal Planet with me. ^^

I didn't know about this at all but I just happened to wear orange today. :o Which is cool, I love animals. <3

My kitten was a "rescue". He had been dumped on the side of the road when he was only FIVE WEEKS old. : ( My aunt and uncle stopped and picked him up and I ended up adopting him. ^_^ He is the sweetest thing in the world.

Out whole family seems to take in strays. >.<; Another of our cats we took home after we witnessed someone literally throw him out of the building on to a sidewalk. Luckily he was okay, but we wanted to make sure it didn't happen again.

And then our third baby was actually out a liter my previous cat had. He is solid black and as it was close to October we just kept him instead of giving him away. ^_^

I didn't know about this awareness day but it is great to hear about but I dont have any orange but by coincidense I'm wearing a shirt with an orange rabbit thing on it o_O Anyway there have been a few occassions in family where we have found abandoned animals. A few years ago my mom brought home a dog who had been abused and she was taken in by our nieghbor who lives next door.

I love animals. I have a cat named Cherry who just got spayed yesterday. She's kinda out of it right now too.

You should ask them, they'd probably be really happy to have someone get good pictures. I do that for a shelter around here.

I work with a lot of animal rescue groups so I raise awareness of abuse and neglect on a daily basis. I try to get the point across to people who think "it's just an animal" that animals are not property, they're living things that do feel and that need to be properly cared for.

Even for fish, I don't support things like putting goldfish in a bowl where they suffer from lack of oxygen or get too cramped since most goldfish get over six inches, I also don't like the fact that people treat animals like they're disposable or that people are too lazy to get their pets spayed or castrated, which could prevent a lot of unwanted litters and could save lives.

It's not the 11th for me, so a day late, but I still managed to find a pair of fluffy orange (okay, with white stripes on them) bed socks! I'm also wearing undies with orange (tabby, really) cats on them... forgot I had those! It's amazing what you find at the back of your underwear drawer sometimes.

Ah.. My school is participating in the awareness thing. xD'
