So I was wondering. Who else here doesn't eat meat? I don't eat meat. I am vegetarian. I don't eat meat because I disagree with how the animals were treated in the short life they had. My sister however is vegan. I don't think I could ever do that...
I would like to know:
-Who doesn't eat meat?
-Who is vegan?
-If you don't, then why?
-How do you deal with meat eaters?
-Meat eaters, how do deal with vegetarians/vegans?
-Meat eaters, do you agree/disagree, like/dislike non-meat eaters?
EDIT BY KALE:
If you copy-and-paste the spoon-fed questions into your own post, they must be quoted.
Failure to quote spoons will result in an infraction.

I eat meat! n.n
Mostly beef and chicken.
Why?
Cause it's yummy and humans weren't meant to be herbavors (sp?), or else we wouldn't have sharper teeth.
The animals aren't generally treated that badly, I've been to cattle farms, some are pretty bad, but you could say that some is bad with pretty uch anything. Some parents are bad, some farmers are bad, some doctors are bad, ect. My not eating meat isn't going to save a cowsie, so there's no point in not eating. I don't huntfor sport, or wear animal skins, I think killing an animal for anything other than food or self defense is pretty messed up.
Edit:
I don't really care about vegetarians or vegans, that is, they can do whatever they want. XD
I'm not going to taunt them with meat or anything, but I'm not going to order a salad just to make them happy in the same way I don't expect them to eat a hamburger. If they come over for dinner I'll be sure to serve appropriate foor for them, and if I go to thier house I won't complain at a lack of meat.
To each thier own, and everyone has thier rights, right?

I'm not a vegetarian, but I don't eat meat every day. Also, I only buy organic or range fed or hormone free meats and eggs and stuff. I don't believe in the way meat is generally produced, so I do what I can to support smaller, more humane animal raising methods.
I agree with the PP about how I think humans are meant to eat at least some meat. Nearly all other primates consume animal products in their natural habitat, and we do have the teeth for an omnivorous diet. That said, I have no problem with vegetarians. It's totally possible to get the proper nutrients with supplementation, and everyone has their own personal beliefs. :)

I love meat, especially rare. My friends are vegetarian and I respect that as they respect my meat eating. I rarely eat meat around them though as a mark of respect in my own way.

I do eat meat. I don't mind if people are vegetarian, in my opinion they are missing out on both nutrients and flavor. My cousin is a vegetarian, and when she comes over we let her pick the pepperoni off the pizza.
I disagree with non-meat eaters just because they probably aren't getting thier proper nutrients. You'd have to eat a lot of food to get those nutrients, and peanut butter is probably their best friend.
But I do not dislike them. They are who they are, whether they eat meat or not. That said, if they think the animals are being treated bad, then they don't have to eat them. I myself wish that they would not treat them bad. But meat is meat, and I do not think of how the animals are being treated on a daily basis. Plus not all places that raise animals treat them badly. I think the minority farms are giving the rest bad names sort of deal, maybe.

I'm vegetarian. I hate when people tell me this about being vegetarian, but i have to say it... I could never be a vegan- way to hard.
I don't eat meat or fish, but i do eat eggs. I've been vegetarian for just over three years and am very proud of that. It's really hard sometimes (like on school trips and during Passover), but i deal.
I stopped eating meat because i decided that we shouldn't have to kill animals so we can eat them. I think i also remember seeing or reading something that, in great detail, explained how the animals were killed. Pretty gruesome, especially for my fifth-grade mind (i'm in eighth grade now).
My friends and family are pretty respectful/supportive of it, but i can remember a few times when they weren't. Two years ago, on a school trip, a friend got McDonalds and waved it in my face, saying something to the effect of "i have meat and you don't... nyah..." He was just being immature, but it still hurt. My brothers and dad also seem to enjoy telling me that they have to kill the wild tofu for me. Like the friend thing, it hurts, but i try to just ignore it.
That's me. :)
EDIT: @ ZeldaFlower: My doctor has told me that i don't get all my protein, but my mom and i are working on it. I'm taking calcium and iron pills every day and, starting next week, will be having some sort of protein pill my mom had. (We aren't sure if it's okay for Passover [I'm Jewish], so we're waiting till it's over.)

I eat meat! I dont think I could ever be a vegetarian. I hate vegetables anyways...and eat very little of it. Plus my family is Indian and we dont have one vegetarian person in our lot.
Not me...I don't think its at all very healthy to be eating just green leafs. Too much of anything is never good.

Meat eaters, how do deal with vegetarians/vegans?
|
I'm fine with anyone being either of the two. I just don't like when they start pushing their theories on me when I'm eating meat. Its rude and I feel like they are trying to convert me...which is makes me instantly hate them. I used to have several friends who were all vegans...and I distant myself from them simply for the fact that every time I sat down to eat, they would criticize and start with their animals are so wrongly treated crap. I'm not eating a dog for christsake. I'm eating chicken...poultry thats been bred to be eaten. I have nothing against them, I just dislike their opposition to someone else eating meat. You don't see me criticizing them fro being vegans, I don't preach upon them how its unhealthy.

I don't agree with vegans...its as I said just unhealthy. Vegetarians are okay, because seafood is rich in vitamins that the body needs. But vegans...if you only eating leafy food...your not getting enough nutrients. They must have to take alot of pills to make up for the lack. Too much of anything, no matter how good for you, is unhealthy. I don't dislike them, I just don't agree with them.
Im against animal creulty..but animal cruelty in dolphins and whales and puppies and cats and Im against wearing any kind of fur.
But chicken and cows are bred to be eaten. Pigs..I dont eat pork, so Im not touching that matter.
Crabs, fish, shrimp, I eat them...but not weird things, like octopus, and eel and whatnot. (ick) I only eat the things that are 'naturally' suppose to be eaten. ('Naturally suppose' is in my own definition of what humankind is 'naturally' suppose to eat.)

I don't eat meat because I don't like it. It kind of grosses me out. Fat and blood and tendons and bones. Ew.
I don't call myself a vegetarian though. >> Cause I'm weird. I have an image in my mind of what a vegetarian is, and I don't fit that.
I couldn't do vegan though. I eat a lot of eggs and milk and cheese.
I have no issue with meat eaters. I don't think there's anything wrong with eating meat. It's just not for me. I do have to say, though, that I was completely creeped out by my best friend eating lobster. That thing still had eyes and antenna and the such. And he was breaking into it. That thing gave me nightmares.
I also won't cook meat, so when my meat eating friends visit, they either get premade meat or they eat what I eat.
The way I figure it, some people don't like raisins. Some people don't like lima beans. I don't like meat. I don't see how that's anything special.

I am not saying that killing the animals is bad. If I killed an animal to eat it, and used every single part of it for something, such as using the fur as blankets whatever, that's fine. But I just disagree with how inhumanely the animals were treated in life. It's disgusting! I hate it when people get that confused, 'Oh well, we've been eating animals forever.. Blah blah blah..." But that was when we respectfully hunted animals and killed them for supplies and what not. Now all we do is, is throw a baby cow that can barely see into a pen so small that it can't turn around to lay down. That is what I have a problem with.

I eat meat....especially those little fresh meat in that little forum area we have here.....
All jokes aside, I eat meat because if I didn't then I wouldn't get those nutrients I needed. Also, I've never seen a vegetarian in my whole life so I don't know how strict they can really be o.o;
Also, meat tastes good and smells good on cheeseburgers
>_>
<_<
Anyone apposed to my post?

i would never try to turn someone vegetarian. It's just so beyond rude. I've had vegans tell me that i should be vegan and meat-eaters who tell me i should eat meat. It's rude and inconsiderate. Even though i believe that it's wrong to kill animals to eat them, i would never try to make someone else believe what i do.

I don't eat seafood, either, but i wouldn't anyway. It goes against my religion. I do know some people, though, who don't eat meat or eggs, but eat fish. It could be said that im not a real vegetarian because i eat eggs.

I eat meat. I love meat. I'm not that sentimental about other animals. Its the circle of life. It is necessary to eat animals. I'm sure you know Darwinism's theory. The theory of the survival of the fittest. I'm sure you can apply that between humans and other animals.
Meat is good. I don't know how you can live without it. But of course, you're entitled to whatever you wish.

I agree with you Rebel. To each there own. How can you decipher what an 'real' and 'fake' vegetarian is?
I think a vegetarian is someone who doesn't eat poultry but eats sometimes fish, eggs. A vegan to me is one who opposes any kind of meat product, any kind of product involving animals. So Critternator, you said that you could never be a vegan....so that means you do eat some type of meat..no?

I eat meat. But my boyfriend and I both plan on becoming vegetarian before we turn 25. We're just not ready for that right now.
Plus, it's more expensive being vegetarian since meat is cheap, and fruits and veggies are expensive. XD I mean, we of course still eat fruits and veggies now, but not as much as if we ate no meat.

I also don't eat Seafood. Or poultry. Nothing that was once alive. It's amazing how often I tell people I don't eat meat and they say, "Do you eat chicken?" "No." "What about fish." "Is that not meat?" <<,,
Not eating meat doesn't have to be unhealthy. I eat a lot of eggs and cheese, so I get enough protein (most meat eaters have far more protein than they need). Only thing I'm low on is Iron, but I have supplements for that.

I like meat, I eat it. I understand that animals are mistreated but I believe not eating meat doesn't help them. Nature can be as cruel as people.
I don't mind vegetarians or vegans I can respect their opinions. I don't like to be preached at though, as long as they don't bother my eating with horror stories then I can handle it fine.

I meant that it would be too hard. My sister is vegan and she has to constantly eat and she has to incorporate different food groups into every meal. It's too complicated. She's has to really think about her meals, and she has to plan them all out.

I eat meat, however there are some periods in my life when I don't eat any meat. Mostly it is when I tryto lose some weight or simply don't have anything to eat xD
Vegan? Well it is a freaky person who eats only grass *__* I can understand vegetarians, but vegans - nope.
- Well... I was planning to stop eating meat, but then I decided not to.
Well, there is a friend of mine who is vegetarian only because he hates meat, he can't stand even the smell of it. So I'm totally alight with that kind of people. However there are many people who feel sorry for the animals. Well, I understand you in some case, but these creatures wich we eat were grown up for this. Plus it won't change much if someone boycotts this way.
Lately I also reaised that being vegetarian is simply trendy among teens. This is weird, but yeah... almost 1/5 of my friends doesn't eat meat for this reason. Well... it is not my business, but still.

I eat meat. Meat is good. It is natural to eat meat/other animals.
I don't care if someone is a vegetarian or a vegan.. it's their choice. :3
it is however annoying to eat with them, since they have to be so picky and they look at you like you're a murderer because you eat meat -.-

I do not eat meat, always used to. I started quitting at the end of 2005. Actually because I was staying at a psychiatric hospital and the meat tasted very bad. So I decided to submit myself as a vegetarian.
I decided to stay a vegetarian. But it became so hard to accidentaly not eat meat due to people forgetting that Im a vegetarian >_< I decided to stop, but soon enough started again.
I seldom eat meat or fish accidentally, I dont enjoy it because I realize better that its been living now. I try not to make a big deal of it but yeah, like I said I dont enjoy it.
I think the people of today dont realize that the meat they eat has been a living creature once. I have respect for animals, and thats why I want to realize what that piece of meat once was. That is why I am a vegetarian.
But in the end Id kill to survive. Thats the kind of world we live in afteral.
