Well, it was a pretty exciting thing for us. Finally getting rid of Bush. And the fact that so many idiots people think that Obama is the anti-christ. So it was exciting for us. So I guess we were just yelling about it loud enough that you could hear us over the pond, eh? xD

We have Gordon Brown we didn't have a choice :XD
I like Gordon Brown he's a man of few words which means he's on the TV less.

But then we have BORIS!!! The lord mayor of London he's on the TV alot, which is something we could all do without. TO THE BBC WEBSITE!!!! Good old BBC letting us loose on their forums so we can rant about how we don't want all these programs on about America and that we don't pay our TV licences to watch that. WE WANT MORE PERIOD DRAMAS!! And possibly SONGS OF PRAISE!!

The TV license thing is always something that I found ridiculous about Europe. Would you happen to know why they have that? I mean, the purpose that it serves?
Sorry for being a little off topic, it's just something I've wondered about, but never cared to look up. xD;

TV licencing pays for stuff like The Eurovision Song Contest, where would our lives be without that anual cheese fest. It also pays for some of the better things like documenteries on things we actually want to see.
Well I think it does I'm not sure.

Ohhh. I thought it might, but I wasn't sure.
Well, at least you reap the benefits of it! Better than it going off to line someone's pockets. And because of that, you probably don't have to make monthly payments for a satellite provider, I'd imagine?

You have several types of TV over here, but you have to pay for you TV licence every year to keep your TV or else you get prosecuted. TV licence pays for you BBC programs because they don't have commercial brakes.
You can buy a FreeView box which is just a one off payment then you have so many extra channels and digital radio, now they're doing TV with FreeView built in.
Then there's like Sky and Virgin Media who do alot more channels and you get your satelite dish or cable. And you have to pay for those monthly.
So TV licence is paid every year then if you decide to get satellite then you have to pay for that as well.

Oh wow, I didn't know BBC had no commercials. That's pretty cool! Sucks if you have to go to the bathroom, though. xD
Thanks for explaining it for me.
If you have any questions on how things work over here, feel free to ask. xD

The BBC normally repeat things on Sunday if it's like a drama or something that interest people and they have their catch up service. so you can watch the program for a week after it was aired.
I like the BBC they don't cut things off to go to a commercial brake when it's just getting good.
We get some American shows over here and if they're reality ones we get subtitles for children :XD Apparenlty we can't understand small American children.

Yeah, commercial breaks can be pretty damn annoying. But sometimes you have to pee really badly, or you're thirsty or something, and you just can't wait for a commercial break.
oO Seriously? xD That's strange.
But yeah, I guess some kids are hard to understand. Lots have speech impediments and their words kind of run together, so if you're not super super used to the American accent as it is, it could be hard to understand. Sometimes they're hard to understand no matter WHAT accent you're most used to. xDD
"I DAW A DAW AN-AN-AN-AN IHWENAWFINDAYAWW!!!"
You can only say "What?" to kids like that so many times until you just have to pretend that you understood them and give them a blanket reply like "Cool" or something. xD
I worked with 4 year olds for a while, so I had to do that a lot.

The small childrens always make me laugh because they just say things that come into their head. No matter how random it is and you're just like yeah I'll go with that.

Some days (read: all), I just think people are too damn stupid. It really is amazing how people will do anything and everything so long as they don't have to think for themselves. Heaven forbid that people should actually have to formulate an opinion based on personal interpretation of facts and not just agree with the popular voice! [/rant]
