"Fun" would not be the word that springs to mind when I think of the word "Navy". Words like "ew" and "never again" spring into my mind. It was an experience that I don't regret, but would not recommend even if paid a zillion dollars. Yes, it was that bad.

Nope she tried to rip it off when we were in the garden, but that's what you get for taking a kitty on a walk with a harness on.
The Navy was the only one we never had a guest speaker from, not that I actually listened to them. I only sat there to get a free pen leafets on the army and the air force when straight in the bin.

Pens are always good! If I was older, it may have been a good job for me - but not when I was that young and completely unwilling to remain focused.

We got talked to about jobs in the forces and I just turned off and didn't listen to them. They just told us all the good points of it, I have a friend who wants to be in the army but she hasn't realized that there's going to be things she wouldn't be able to do and how long she's going to be away from home.

YAY, my car has been in the shop since Thursday and it's finally done. I'm just afraid to call back in an hour to get the price. Luckily, my boss is paying for it. I just love him.

Elmira - Yeah, I was being sarcastic. xD
Just out of curiosity, why did you originally decide to join the Navy?
HIM - *bandaids* You should have your kitty declawed.
Roo - Yay! :D And that's really nice of your boss to pay for it. Why is he? Just out of kindness?

Having kitty declawed is cruel. She doesn't claw that much anymore. It's just when she decides to run when you have her on her lead she yanks your arm.

It's cruel if they're an outside cat, yeah. Or if you do it when they're grown up, since they're already used to their claws and declawings on grown cats usually don't go so well.
But if the kitty always stays indoors (thus no need for emergency climbing or self defense), and it's young when you have it done, I don't have a problem with it. They still have back claws. Just no more scratched up arms. xD

Cherry - When I was 17-18, I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life but did know for certain that it needed to involve moving out and away from my parents. So, I joined the Navy to give myself 4 years to figure things out and get as far from my parents as possible - and the Navy did send me to FL for boot camp and then to MS for additional training - and then... 2 hours from my parents. All the way to San Diego. For 4 years. It was like being stuck in the same house with your best friends for 4 years. Sometimes you loved everyone, other times... not so much! Oh. I still didn't know what I wanted to do with myself after the 4 years were up, other than NOT stay in the military.
We only had one kitty declawed - because she kept trying to claw Lily's eyes even when Lily was just sitting next to her. Not happy to do it at all, but I also couldn't risk Lily losing an eye.

My kitty goes outside on her kitten harness to stop her going over the frence and meeting Eddie, next doors dog who doesn't like cats.
She likes to nearly pull me into the apple tree, the plum tree and the rather spikey butterfly plant.
She needs her claws to hold onto things when she falls off things.

Yes, she does. My kitty doesn't go outside, and I'd like to try putting her into a harness to take her for a walk. How well does your kitty tolerate a harness - other than pulling on your arm?

She did fight for a start when I was trying to get it on but she soon realized that the harness means she's going outside.
It takes a while for them to get used to a harness and you have to make sure it's tight enough so they can't slip out of it but loose enough so it's not cutting them in half.

The more I think about it, the less I'd want to use a harness because our neighborhood doesn't have fenced yards and there are a lot of dogs that just run loose all the time. We have one outside cat, but he weighs 20lbs, has claws and is able to climb trees - plus we have places on our property where he can hide pretty quickly if needed. I mean, if I was a dog, I wouldn't try to eat him!
Still... the thought of walking one of the cats - barring the aforementioned hazards - sounds like it could be fun!

Elmira - Ohh, I see. Sucks that you were stuck with it for so long when you didn't enjoy it. :(
Kitty discussion - My kitty had no front claws and he never fell off things. Sometimes he'd slip a little if he was standing on your lap, but it didn't hurt him and it was preferable to him sinking his claws into your legs. He'd catch himself, I mean. Not just fall right off your lap. He had back claws and got along fine with just those.

We've never declawed out cat but he hasn't clawed any of us for a while. He once clawed me right on the ass cheeks as I walked past him resulting in a bit of a cry of pain that I got told off for. Other then that he may claw up the carpet when he gets in a mood but it's not bad enough to justify de-clawing him since he goes outside and there are a few other cats in our area.

Cherry - I literally started counting down the days until I was out before I had less than a year to go. 499 days... it was like 99 bottles of whatever on the wall. Truth of the matter is, I knew there was a risk that I'd hate it. I don't regret it - I just won't do it again! Kind of like using a sharpie pen on your hand - you know it's going to smell bad and take forever to go away, but you do it anyway because you need whatever info for later. It was an interesting experience!
Kittehs like to climb *nods*

Yes, kitties like to climb, but I don't want to have to try to get a kitty off of the top of my curtains. xD Plus, they can scratch you when they jump on or off of you. Or if they're one of those cats that kneads with their paws when they're happy, you're petting your kitty and suddenly have a thousand holes in your skin. xD; My grandma's cat does that. If you pick him up and he likes it, you'll end up with tons of tiny scratches on your upper arm. If he doesn't... still tons of scratches. xD
Kitties still find ways to get into all kinds of high places they shouldn't be in when they're declawed. They're excellent jumpers. My kitty was still getting into trouble like that even when he was 19. It hurt him to jump OFF, though. So he'd just stay there.
Sometimes we'd come home to find kitty taking a nap on the kitchen counter. xD It was too cute to get mad at him for...

I like the smell of sharpies.
My plan was to go to college when I graduated and get away from my family that way. But since my high school was so subpar and the fact that I did really horribly on the math part of the SATs I didn't get into any schools and my family wanted me to go to college THEN.
So right after I graduated I ended up going to a technical college. Got a diploma in something I can't use, web design, since no one here or anywhere that I can find is hiring a web designer. x.x
I still have no idea what I want to do with my life. I try not to think about it too much, since it just depresses me since I don't think I'm good enough at anything to want to make a living off of it. x.x
OH. Kittehs! All of my cats are outdoor cats. We once had a calico who would climb all the way to the top of any trees she could. XD She'd leave everyone else alone, but meow at me to get her down.

I'm so excited! I've organized a lazer-tag "war" with my friends since we're off from school tomorrow. I'm the leader of the Thunderstorm Empire, fighting to quell the Jacobin rebellion. It's gonna be so sweet!
