Same here! That book always made me cry. Although it bugged me as a kid that the bunny on the cover of the book was white when clearly it should've been red because of the scarlet fever. *drumdrumcymbal*

I do love the art style of the book... I've got this intense love of old storybook illustrations. I mean...

THAT IS AWESOME.
I have this idea to buy a bunch of kids books in that style and cut out the pages and frame them. The sentence or two on them make lovely non sequiturs.


Though I love that style from the 50s, I also love Dr. Suess and Shel Silverstein.
There's a local flea market coming up in a few weeks... I'm hoping to luck out and find a bunch of children's books there really cheap. I did fairly well last time around. Got a CD (that turned out to be FANTASTIC and is now one of my favorite albums. Do yourself a favor and buy yourself a copy. Buy it used there and it's only like, three bucks) for a buck, and some other cute things... But I was so sleepy so I passed up a lot of things I should have bought. >< NEVER AGAIN!
