So I was a little surprised looking over the last couple pages that I saw no Ironman thread so I thought I'd start one.

Ironman is coming out in a little less then a week now, and even though I'm not a fan of the comic books I'm looking forward to seeing the movie. I think the casting for Tony Stark was spot on.

So I want to know:
-Are you planning to see the movie? Are you excited about it?
-What are your thoughts on the casting? Which actors do you like?
Which ones do you think would be a better fit for the characters?

-Now that it's out: Did you like it? Did it live up to the hype?

Umm I am busy trying to figure out how I am going to get 4 hours away to see it, as I really want to see it with my best friend. Seeing with my husband won't be as cool. How ever with gas prices being as thy are, I am finding it silly to spend that much 40 to 50 dollars to go see a movie. sigh.

My boyfriend really wants to see this movie. It's normally the kind of movie I'd wait to rent, so I'm not very excited about seeing it. I guess I am a little excited about going to the theater though. Been a little tight on money lately, so this 'treat' will be nice.

I've never read the comics before, so I'm not going to be the best judge at whether or not the actors are true enough to the characters. xD From what I've seen in the previews though, they look alright to me.

I'm torn on whether or not I want to see this movie. I'm not really a big fan of the actors that are in it, and I've never been a die hard Iron Man fan. I guess I'll go and see it if the reviews are any good.

Yes, and Yes

hmm i dont know why Gwyneth Paltrow is in this... i dont like her personality
she doesnt fit into this movie at all.
Robert Downey Jr. i guess he does give off a nice persona of the character. and he does kind of look like Stark.

bleh dont know a lot of actors.

I just got back from watching it and it was AWESOME. I didn't really know too much about the actors before hand (I'm not big at following whose in what movie), but I think they fit perfectly. I mean perfectly. Gwenyth Paltrow (sp?) was the only one I recognized, but she played her part very well.

I must say, I was very impressed with the whole thing. Iron Man is one of the comics I never really followed, but after the movie I want to read them now. I haven't even really liked many of the super hero movies that have came out lately (Dare Devil was pretty much the only one I really liked). But this one was, just, well, amazing. The characters (and storyline) were believable and engaging. Not to mention fun.

I don't want to give anything away to those who haven't seen it, but if you're undecided about it, I would suggest it.

(Action packed without being plotless, the drama fit seemlessly and the hint of romance was just that.)

I just have a hard time picturing Morton Downey Jr. as a super hero. I have heard it's good though.

I saw it the night it came out. It was great. It covered a bunch of genres such as comedy, action, and it had the lil' wartime thing goin' on too. Was admirable nonetheless ^_^ I enjoyed it.

I loved it so much D: Me and a few of my friends went to see it and it was fricking amazing.

Robert Downey Jr was actually brilliant casting, I was so impressed. I loved Tony Stark more than life when I was a bit younger and my uncle lent me comics all the time, and Downey was just how I imagined him.

And the romance was so well done, I was amazed it wasn't totally shoved in your face repeatedly. And the extinguisher robot was awesome.

I just went and saw it this evening and I have to say it definately lived up to the hype. The casting was spot on, the actors rocked it!

I espically loved the scene right at the end ( the extra scene) after the credits had rolled. My brother and I had been talking about that and I laughed when I found out I was right. I'm happy I stayed to the end of the credits to see it.

when favereau has chosen robert downey jr. as
tony stark, i thought, what a perfect role for him to
play. there are just so many similarities between the
both of them.

and of course, when i saw the movie, i was not let down.
downey jr. was spot on, as were the other cast in this
film. i was very much blown away after seeing this, and the
special effects were awesome, they weren't the cheesy
spider man/hulk special effects whatsoever.

I was really impressed with this movie.
Before seeing it, everything I knew about Iron Man had to do with Black Sabbath >_>

I agree with... the rest of the thread about Robert Downey Jr. He executed that role pretty much perfectly. I don't know what the comic version of Tony Stark was like, but the guy did play his part very well.

The romance subplot was incredibly predictable, but at least it fit in well with the storyline.

Well, my boyfriend did take me to see it and I'm really glad he did! In all honesty, I probably would have never even seen this movie if he hadn't dragged me there, but I really loved it. It's one of the few comic-to-movie movies I actually like. Looking back on it, it did seem to take a while to get to the action, but I didn't really notice it while watching the movie. It didn't bore me. It made me laugh a lot too, which is always a plus.

Eh, I love Robert Downey Jr. but don't really think I'll see this movie till it hits video stores ... or my movie channels.

I thought this movie was fantastic. I haven't read any of the comics or knew any of the background on it, but I thought the story was really good. It really impressed me because lately the superhero movies have been pretty unsatisfactory. I think it's better than all the Spiderman movies and at a very close second to Batman begins.

I was completely amazed by all the mechanics that had to be animated in this movie (I want to do that). Everything looked so convincing!

I didn't really know any of the actors very well but they seemed to fit into their roles very good. I thought it was wonderful, but maybe I just like when bad guys go good, unlike good guys gone bad. :coughSpiderman3cough:

I'm considering going to go see it. I don't really know the back story of Ironman, so I imagine I have a good chance of enjoying it -comic nerd sometimes- From what I've seen, it looks promising ^^

My dad and my brother and my bf all said that it was a really good movie and that I should see It but I don't really get to the movies a lot but I shall try to make it to this movie because they say that It is the best Marvel movie yet and I've seen all the previews it looks good and I haven't read any of the books or the cartoon so I think I should be more likely to like it.

I just went to go see this movie last night and it was AMAZING. First of all, Tony Stark was such an ass, but not in an annoying way. Acording to my bf was with me, this is very true to the comic version of Iron Man.

I totally loved all the technology in the movie though. It just made the whole thing so interesting.

Also.... who stayed after the credits?!
Samuel L Jackson = Nick Fury?! SO AWESOME

My comic book geek friend told me that I HAD to see it. My not so geeky brothers told me that it was awesome. I went in with high expectations and I wasn't disappointed. I really liked it. It wasn't just about Iron Man, it was about Tony Stark and who he was and what he went through to become Iron Man. I really liked that. Of course, the Iron Man action was awesome too!

And I did stay till the end of the credits (even though I had to use the bathroom really bad O_O!). My friend said that maybe it's a hint to another movie (not Iron Man 2, which I'm sure they'll make and it will have War Machine in it!)

I enjoyed this movie completely. I wasn't familiar with the Iron Man story at all, but I think they did a nice job of modernizing things. The script was well written, the casting was strong, the effects looked good, etc. I am definitely looking forward to seeing this movie again someday. I thought it blew the Spiderman films out of the water.

i agree. it was nicely done.
the story was good, and the actors were a good pick

only thing that was the downside, was the lack of Action.

so if there is a part two, i hope it has more Iron Man and less...talky talky
