Well, Alice in Wonderland does not officially belong to Disney since it was originally a novel in the beginning and Disney had to get permission just like Tim Burton got permission for Sweeney Todd. Unless Tim Burton has a contract with disney for the film. I just assumed that Warner Bros. would be helping him out with it or another filming company. If he is under contract with Disney they will have plenty of problems since Disney is in the 'Bubble gum Computer Pop' phase.

She's right. It's being distributed by Disney, and they're notoriously draconian on content control.

However, the Pirates of the Caribbean movies did open them up a little bit to a larger market audience, so there's hope for you goth-loli-Alice fans. :p

Seriously?! I can't believe it! The Alice in Wonderland from Disney is okay, but I can't wait for Tim Burton's remake of it!! Hopefully it doesn't make me feel like I'm on an acid trip...

Oh cool! I'm stoked! I haven't heard anything about this until I saw this thread. It'll probably turn out great, I just wish he hadn't cast his best friend and his wife in yet another movie of his. That irritates me to no end.

I really hope he does make a very dark version of it. I'm not a huge fan of the story at all, but I love America McGee's Alice. Something like that would be good.

Ooo Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter! That will be great!!

This movie will probably look more like the psychotropic trip that "Carroll" had really pictured.

I'm actually SO excited. This is a PERFECT movie for Burton to do. I've got high hopes.

Okay, just thought I'd put my two cents into the conversation to clarify some things.

A few people in here have mentioned something similar to this- they'll like this because it might be in the same style as Nightmare before Christmas.

Here's the problem: He didn't make that movie.

Nightmare was directed, and animated by Henry Selick. The same person that made Coraline, Monkeybone, and James and the Giant Peach.

Tim Burton only ever made a short story that sort of created characters for them to go on for Nightmare. He didn't write it, design it, direct it, animate it at all whatsoever. He only made the general idea and produced it which in this case is sort of studio talk for him giving it money and a name attached to it to promote it better.

It is not his style and he still always gets the damn credit for it.
This Alice shouldn't look like Nightmare, but probably will anyway
because he'll get more animators that will purposefully try to make
it look like Selick's designs and try to make it weird or surreal.

Sorry, I just think Henry Selick deserves far more credit than he is ever given.

Coraline is not a Tim Burton movie. This is what happens when you let everyone think that Nightmare Before Christmas is a Tim Burton movie.

Oh, wow someone already said it. That makes me glad.
Good to know that people are finally learning this or knew it already
and are spreading this information everywhere.

--------
What do I think of this particular movie?
Not a big fan of Burton but he might do okay.
I won't watch it except to see Crispin Glover's performance 'cause he's awesome,
Johnny Douche will just piss me off because he'll do a horrible Hatter.

The first thing I thought of when I heard about the movie was "marketing play."
Tim Burton doing Alice in Wonderland just sounds like all it wants to do is sell millions of dollars in merchandise to the general Hot Topic crowd. Personally, I don't really get the hype.

I'm expecting it to be strange (in a bad way) and try too hard, but I'm also expecting people to eat it right up anyway. Because Alice is so awesome, and Tim Burton made Night Before Christmas!

But then again, I do love Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. >_>

..I seriously want to see this. But then, I'm a Burton fan and a Depp fan too. So that might have something to do with it. ..And I seriously love the world of wonderland, it's so twisted and even dark at times and there's been so many different awesome takes on it, like woah. It'll be neat to see how Burton'll make this version out to be.

I wonder if we'll see a jabberwock or a frumious bandersnatch. Probably not, but it'd be wickedly awesome.

From what I have heard Tim Burton is doing a version where Alice goes back to wonderland a bit older and finds things have changed..I think do not quote me on that....

I'm looking forward to this. I like Tim Burton movies. I also like the actors chosen so far.

It is obvious that Tim Burton likes working with Johnny Depp, but I read that he is easy to work with. It's not strange to find directors working with actors they like.

It will be interesting if nothing else. One thing that annoys me about tim burton is that he uses the same actors, and music people. I realize he has a good working relationship with these people. But some of the parts don't fit. But I'll probably give it a chance depending on the previews and trailers.
