Well, awhile back we were asked if we would like a market. A lot of us were against it because we were worried about inflation. But for several reasons, I think it might be more beneficial to have one.

In the current system it is too much of a pain to buy or sell anything. Prices often get jacked up because buyers wait forever for a seller and feel they need to bribe one simply to get that item.

And while it can be a nicer little community, some of us, let's face it, aren't eloquent. We don't have a way with words and don't want to have entire conversation simply to get an item.

It'd be nice to have people be able to put their items ot for flat prices. Then they'd get a flat sale and that person wold get that item without having to wait for a reply/ haggle/compete with other people/ ect.

Pretty sure it's decided that there will in fact be a marketplace and it's already in the making. :3

It can't be too long of a while, since that's the reason the users have been given as to why the sellback store is gone and won't be returning...

I thought about it after I posted and realized I had heard it on the Dev board and not the live one. I haven't actually checked the site feedback thread about it on the live site. My mistake.

I didn't know anyone was asking to have it replace the exchange...that would've been a terrible idea.

I'm sure no-one was asking for that. But I know that some would be afraid that it would replace rather than compliment. I was just putting minds at ease ^.^

Yup.
A marketplace will be coming eventually so that should help things run more smoothly.
^^

Sadly, a marketplace won't really eliminate the haggling/competition over the more expensive rares since people are reluctant to sell those for pure. xD
</3

Oh, well.
I'll still look forward to using the marketplace for purchasing commons.

I had been against it before, but now I'm beginning to favor it.
It takes so long to go through all the threads trying to find commons for sale. The exchange is great if you're just browsing and don't have a certain common in mind to buy and are just looking for something to catch your eye. But when you're looking for a few specific things, it can be SUCH a pain....

I do think there are some things that the marketplace is better for (like buying commons) and some things the exchange is better for (EIs and CIs) and eventually we're going to be really big and having just an exchange wouldn't be fair to both those selling and buying.

Marketplace? Please?
I really hate the exchange and avoid it as much as I can. It's such a pain in the ass to have to sift through all those threads looking for one selling the item I want... and then there's the threads that aren't even buying/selling anything... -dies-

I avoid the exchange because I find it impossible to find anyone selling what I want to buy. So I'll be glad when we get a marketplace.

I went looking to buy commons today (well, yesterday, really). I went through a dozen threads advertising 'commons' and found absolutely nothing I wanted. They all seemed to be selling the same things. XD;

Looking forward to the marketplace as well. It'd make it easier to find what I'd like, even if you couldn't search for things, scrolling down a list of what is for sale is easier than trying to find it hidden within an Exchange thread. XD;

The exchange is in even more disarray now since you have to contact a staff member to change your thread titles and quite a few people simply don't bother. If I didn't already share my topic with a staff member, I know I would've just had someone change it to the thread title only and hoped that people simply checked the first post. Between that and the influx of gold from the new games, the exchange is pretty chaotic anyways. Hopefully it'll settle back out eventually and people will have an easier time finding what they need. :)

The exchange is a mess right now. Its near impossible to find anything for sure. I've always found marketplaces to be the easiest way to buy or sell anything because its a simple search and haggling can be done in PMs or the exchange thread of the person selling in the marketplace.

Besides, the exchange is generally a hangout place where selling/buying is more of a side thing in my opinion anyways. Its a popularity contest to keep your thread up long enough for people to see what you're selling and try and get offers on it and vice versa with the buying.

I agree with the people saying it's a mess. xD None of the thread titles are correct and I can never find any of the commons or CI's I'm looking for. It seems like I find things by chance after clicking through every thread.

I have been against a marketplace on here since I came to this site because of what I saw it do to another site (and yes I am guilty of being a vender too, but I was one of the nicer ones >.>).
However, as of recently, I can see there is a need for one due to some threads not being properly updated in the exchange, lack of being able to find commons, and just an overload of stuff.

My only concern is how the marketplace will be run once we have one.

With a marketplace, there is always the chance of people bumping up store commons - you might think that people would notice, but what about newer players who might be in there to find a bargain for themselves, and as they don't quite know what items are in the stores yet, get tricked into spending more than the item is actually worth? A simple link to a page with the prices for all items listed on it, prominent in the marketplace, would probably go a long way towards stopping this, but people would still have to be careful.
Still, what with the exchange in such a mess at the moment, I really do think that having marketplace would make things a lot easier for Mene users.

I think there was discussion about whether or not it is possible to code a cap for commons... As in, you can't sell a common for more than you can purchase it in the stores. But that might have been completely hypothetical.

I can tell you right now, that there will be coding in place to prevent people from being able to sell store items for more than their ticket price, even if it takes Ken blood, sweat and tears to code.

And if, for any reason, it turns out to not be possible, I will personally beat people around the head if they try to over-charge, because it's a practice that I despise. But I seriously don't see why it would be difficult to code.

I agree with most of the opinions in here.
The marketplace would be really convenient; it's not just the inability to find downpriced commons, but also the fact that it's impossible to sell your commons off to other people without the sellback store right now. x___x
I'd like to point out that shop owners could also offer to buy back commons at 50% with the marketplace... >___<;;
