Evening all! I'm glad you made a place like this Cricket, I don't think I've seen a forum dedicated to GLBT people yet.
BTW, during weekdays (I'm in EST), I'll be posting under my male mule, Bilbo, but I don't roleplay a male when I'm in that account. Just wanted to give a heads up to prevent possible confusion.

Yes, but this isn't the kind of roleplay or crap that a lot of places are when it's a GLB place. This is actually for conversations and socializing (not a perverted semi-cybering dating service like a lot of those places are).
I myself am TG, and I managed to meet another TG here and someone else who is in a relationship with a TG person.
I was amazed to find such understanding and I wanted to make a place dedicated to it, because I know it makes me feel better about myself to know that I'm not alone.

@Cricket: Aww, I may not be TG but i've been around them and dated one. So, you don't have to worry about me misunderstanding or being mean or anything.

Well, I'll point out something rules-related. Uh, capitalize words that need to be capitalized. Because I'm a total grammar Nazi and it drives me crazy when people don't use basic English skills.
>.<
One thing about being TG and on the internet is that people often have trouble distinguishing me from either gender if I don't tell them ahead of time. More often than not they think I'm male, but then there are those that think I'm female.
It's rather amusing when people on my messenger list start asking each other if I'm a "He" or a "She."

I'm sorry, i'm not a perfect person at grammar. If it bothers you that much i'll leave.
About the people thinking your a he or she. XD I get that, because the way I act and all suggests female but I like male things.

I apologize if you misunderstood my post, I just didn't want people thinking I was mocking or being weird when, tomorrow at work, I come post here with a male avatar and possibly mention my girlfriend; thus leading people to think I may be a straight male. I don't understand how my post made you question my sincerity.
As I said, I am glad you created this thread becasue in my time on Mene, I have yet to see a thread dedicated to GLBT discussion and issues. I'm a lesbian and have been out for almost 10 years. My first partner is now FTM and I helped him with accepting himself and learning about how to go about finding the resources he needed. I have been involved with GLBT groups and issues since my Sophomore year of college, and remain so even in my current professional life.
Again I am sorry if there was misunderstanding regarding the original post I made, and I do hope that I'm welcome here.

Kukon: Is it really that hard to capitalize the i? So hard that you'd rather leave then so do? Then I guess leave. It's not going to kill you to hit the shift key when it's called for.
Eternal: I wasn't questioning your sincerity. o.o I was simply saying something I've observed. I didn't doubt your sincerity at all. I'm well known for gender switching my avatars on other websites. I'm just waiting until I have more items before I do so here.

And I was simply saying that I was not a roleplayer but didn't want to create confusion--yet you still jumped all over me for being one.

I have to tolerate shitty grammar and spelling everywhere else, I'm allowed to require people to use basic English skills in my hangout.
If they don't like me, oh well. Then they won't come here. It's nothing new to me, and I don't really care.
EDIT:

I didn't jump on you for being a roleplaying. What the hell?
All I was saying that in most websites, the things dedicated to GLB's are weird, stupid little roleplays and aren't actually about anything more than being sexual etc.
I think you're the one who understood.
Crap. It did it again to me.

Hello Cricket!
Mind if I ask what GLB stands for? I was a bit confused when I saw it used as I was reading through the posts.
To keep everything on topic, I'll post a bit about me. I'm female-to-male transsexual. I plan on going through surgery but when is indefinite. I plan to within the next five years, but for financial reasons, that could change. It stings if someone refers to me as "her" or "she" so I prefer that everyone just think of me as male. =) That's all I really know what to say for now.

GLB, or those three letters in any combinations (most of the time, anyways) stands for Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual.
Add the t to it and you get Transgendered.

Oh, okay. I thought it probably meant something along those lines. ^^; Now I know what you meant when you were talking about sites and roleplays being dedicated to GLB's.

Yeah. ^^;; A lot of places are dedicated to them, but they're not the serious social acceptance that's needed, and they don't deal with the issues. They just kind of act stereotypical and glorify their lifestyles (which are questionable, and I don't mean the sexuality part, it just gets mixed in) and in a way, end up mocking the sexualities.
I think over half the people who hand out in those types of places aren't even the sexuality they say they are, they're just being asshats.

I kind of feel that way about some yaoi and even some yuri - specifically where there are uke and seme or dominant and submissive roles assigned. Not only do those traits usually mean stereotyped personalities, but it always involves physical traits as well. Not all, but some of those stereotypes pop up and it annoys me a little. It's not true to life all the time because it's just fan fodder. Not to say I don't like...boys love or girls love. I just prefer something more true to life, that doesn't make all gay guys out to be flamboyant - at the same time, flamboyant guys can exist whether gay or straight. I just prefer something more down to earth, that doesn't make having a certain sexuality seem so - crap, I can't think of the world. Wild? I guess when people struggle to fit in, stereotypes really only make people think less of certain groups. Ugh, I can't think of a way to clearly say that.

I think I understand what you mean.
Basically: Not all gay guys wear pink. Not all lesbians are dykes and wear flannel.
Is that the basics of what you were trying to say?

Eh, not really, but close.
I meant that there was more equality between the relationships than media portrays them. When there are dominant and submissive roles, those are usually portrayed in a certain formula as well. In those media cases, the same formula is used by different authors or even the same, and it's hard to see the differences between their characters besides their names and hair/eye color.

That last part confused me a bit. =S Explain a little better?
And I find that in most gay/lesbian relationships, the dominant role is switched back and forth sometimes. It's not always easy to spot a dominant or submissive person in a relationship as everyone thinks it is.
They usually judge by what they see in anime, which generally makes it more obvious which character is which and seems to base their design around that factor alone. It's odd. =S

Hey there lovely people!
Cricket, this looks like a lovely hangout.. I'll probably spend a lot of time here whether a bunch of people come and go or not.
Also in regards to your grammar-nazi-ism, I perfectly understand.. I'm not quite as picky as you but I can definitely appreciate your wanting posts that look like they have at least a bit of care/effort put into them.
As for the dom/sub thing, myself and my partner are both switches, which basically means that we both switch between being dominant and submissive.. a bit annoying when we're both the same, but definitely interesting to say the least!
I find a lot of the couples I know are like that, sometimes one and sometimes the other.

I'm more of the dominant personality between me and my partner. Though he's a lot bigger than I am, so he's physically dominant in several ways. It's definitely interesting. ^^;;
Thank you for understanding about the grammar-Nazism. I'm going to be adding more features to the front page eventually, as well. One of which will be like a brief profile-like thing.

If we don't get very many people it doesn't really matter. We'll just figure out something to discuss and earn a ton of gold or something. I don't know. -Sigh-
People on Eternal Nox are starting to piss me off... Mainly because I'm getting treated like crap about something that wasn't my fault and that I handled rather decently. Now I'm being accused of getting pissed off about something when I wasn't even mad at all about it. I really fucking hate it when people tell me how I feel.
Mainly because the people who do that are always wrong.

I will never understand how people manage to convince themselves that they know how a stranger feels. I barely know how my boyfriend feels half of the time, let alone people I barely know.
