Well, hello again! I'm here with another story I think a lot of people can relate to.

I think just about everyone knows by now that I'm going on vacation in two days. I can't shut up about it. I've recognized this. XD; I can't help it, I'm excited. >w>;

I think a good number of people know that I'm paying for approximately half of if.

And I think most everyone also knows that I have a bit of a guitar fetish, as one of my friends has described it.

And currently, that latter fact combined with my lack of money due to this trip...is making me a bit crazy.

I'm sure plenty of you can relate to this little story - you want to make a purchase you consider major. In my case, I'm looking to buy an acoustic-electric guitar. And you have a set budget. In my case, my budget is $300 (or, if there's a monthly payment plan, up to $40-50 a month). And you find what you want, something you just fall in love with, and it's on sale and JUST MAKES IT into your price range...but it's not your size/shape/whatever. But there IS one very similar available that will work for you...

But it costs twice as much.

You see, I play left-handed. I'm actually ambidextrous...but my left hand was injured exactly seven months ago as of yesterday. I still cannot use it to play the frets...and because I'm ridiculously impatient and very determined as a guitarist, I started playing left-handed. Got myself an actual left-handed guitar about three weeks ago, and it just felt...completely natural to me.

Now, the guitar I found and fell in love with is this one. $299.99, or $15 a month. It looks beautiful, and I LOVE guitars with multiple soundholes...I thought there was no hope of me getting it, though, because there probably wasn't a left-handed model.

But then I found out that there WAS something similar available left-handed. Not EXACTLY the same...but actually, probably better for my playing style. But...it wasn't on the same site, nor any trustworthy site that offered monthly payment plans. And though the list price was the same...this one was not on sale. It costs roughly $600. :gonk:

I'm still hell-bent on getting it. I'm saving up my money, and I'm buying it the moment I can afford it. It's going to beat out my electric as the most expensive thing I've ever bought...by a longshot. I lucked out HUGELY when I was shopping for my electric; I found myself attached to the one that only cost $130. XD And when I got it...it plays great, and stays in tune practically forever.

Lets hope I have the same kind of luck on this one, minus the price. XD;; I've heard some great reviews on it, though, so I'm hopeful.

*ahem* Anyway, enough of my story. It's time to share yours. Has anything similar ever happened to you? Has the price of one item ever taunted you in this way about the price of another? Or are you just the kind of person who emotionally latches on to the most expensive thing in the store? Do you ever genuinely let your wallet suffer because of it?

I'd like to hear some stories. Make me feel a little better about my dilemma. XD

-Mutters darkly- You really need to stop writing those huge journals on DA about your trip...

>.< And you need to reply to the roleplay, damnit!

Ick. I hate when that happens, it often happens to me when I'm shopping, just a size smaller or larger, makes a gazillion dollars differences. Double the price, just left handed or right? Wow/

Cricket: If you're getting annoyed by my journals, you don't have to watch them. And I'm watching for the time when I can reply...but like I said before, I'm really stuck. :gonk:

Although...looking at the thread now...I wonder. *lightbulb'd* I now have an evil plan that will bring on the freakout sooner! >D

...crap, I'm going off-topic in my own thread. :offtopic:

Fallen: Well, a left-handed guitar is a bit of a specialty item. Less than 10% of guitarists use them...even a lot of left-handed guitarists play right-handed (I could list my overall favorite musician as an example - he writes right-handed, too, but does everything else left-handed), though really, for every one of them, there's gonna be an eccentric right-handed guitarist somewhere who plays a left-handed guitar upside-down because they want to be like Hendrix. Point is, though, ordinarily there will be a price difference between the right-handed and left-handed models. My electric's right-handed counterpart cost $110; $20 difference, no big deal. But I've never seen that actually double the price before. I almost fainted when I saw. XD; Sometimes I hate big sales...because they always seem to exclude whatever it is that I want!

The only way to stop watching your journal is to delete you from my watch. At least, that's what seems to be the only answer.

I don't wanna delete you~~~
;___;

YES! BRING ON THE FREAKOUT! God, I need a roleplay right now. >.<

Actually, if you go into your watch list management place (I don't really know what it's called), there are checkboxes for what you watch from who. You can separate art, scraps, journals, polls, and all that stuff.

Give me until...about the 25th, I'd guess; then I'll probably have shut up about it. XD; But spazzing in journals is one of the ways I keep myself optimistic.

...agh, here we go again. XD;;; *shot for being off-topic* I posted; now I'm off for a little while. Hopefully there will be some interesting stories to read when I get back.

I checked it, it's not showing me the option for journals. >.<

Clothing. It ALWAYS happens with clothes. Normally it's not so bad, and the clothes are all several sizes too small or too large. But every once in a while, I'll find one or two pairs of pants that are JUST OFF of what I can wear. XP I wouldn't even mind if they were a little big--I've got belts. But I can't do a lot about the ones that are barely too small. INFURIATING. And then there're pants very similar to them in my size somewhere else.... For twice the price. :headdesk: Very infuriating.

At least what you're getting will have some practical use. I'm currently saving up a few hundred pounds for a doll. e __ e It's a horrible and very expensive hobby of mine but I can't help it, it's all my uncles fault for starting me off with the cutest dolly in the world. ; o ; -cuddles him- Loubie cherishes him always. After this expensive purchase I'm going to try to save up for a glowing kettle. ` - `

One price that's taunting me right now
is the price of our old computer D:

It fell off the table while it was open,
and its screen shattered-- yesterday.
So now I have to pay 2000 dollars to my mom~

And since I only get 100 a month-- from my sister because
my parents are cheap-- I can't buy anything
for almost two years now.

I hate it when I find something expensive that I have to have. I should just stop going to the mall because that seems to cause most of my problems.

Usually I'm an extremely cheap person, but every once in a while I find something perfect that I have to have. I found a hoodie at Hot Topic with little characters from Mario running around all over it. $50! Ugh, even though I wear it all the time I still feel guilty(again, cheap).

And I seem to have expensive tastes in coats too. I found an awesome hunter green peacoat at Banana Republic, but it was over $100. :o
I didn't end up getting it. I found a different hunter green coat at Goodwill for $8. It's not quite as cool and it's a tiny bit too big for me, but it was worth it.

Now there's a yellow raincoat at Bergner's that I love. It was originally $130, now it's on sale for $90. I look terrible in yellow so I've decided that I'll only buy it if it goes down to $40.

My brother just started to play the guitar too and my dad somehow made him a guitar...I wish I'd inherited some of that skill :P.

Thankfully most things that I wish to purchase are not that expensive but that can also be bad as sometimes I do not notice how many things I am actually purchasing. I get mostly books, but sometimes I splurge on clothing, not to often though. Where I go to school helps as there is not much shopping opportunity to purchase books as I am in the middle of corn fields.
