HAI JENN.
I just bought my school books. Not bad, only 330 euros for the first semester for two programs.

Law and English.
And 330 is approximately 400 dollars, but last year I spent 600 euros, or 800 dollars on the first semester alone for freshman year of English.
Not much of a steal since they're all brand new books, but at least it didn't bankrupt me. xD

Wow, quite a lot for school books. But I suppose it's understandable. When do classes start for you then?

*Gibs j00 smartz*
I start the 31st for Law, and the 2nd of English, except I can't be there on the 2nd because of classes for Law. xD
And I have so many piles of books around my room. Seriously, anywhere there is a place, there can be books found.
Doesn't help that I continuously buy books to read in my free time. I'm hoping to have my own library by the time I graduate, but I only have about one bookcase filled. :(

I feel like getting off the interwebz and going to school now. I'm actually pretty smart. But I'm pretty damn lazy.
That's really awesome that you're persuing law. It's awesome that you're in school. So many people nowdays think they can get by in life by flipping burgers. :/ It seems schooling doesn't seem as important to people. They're only screwing themselves over.
I want a library! It'd be super awesome to have a HUGE library. Books stacked to the ceiling, ten stories tall, all around the room. It'd be like my own heaven. What sort of books do you read?

OMG lyke Beauty and the Beast rite? I'd luv dat. Mmmmmm.
And tell me about it. I look back at the graduating class of 07 from my high school in America (I wasn't there the last three years) and realize that not even HALF went on to college/university/some type of higher education.
But of course it's expensive. I understand that, but I think for even just your bachelors the job afterwards should pay for the loans. But of course here in Holland education is dirt cheap and master degrees are rare. The government here finances education A LOT.
I'm lazy too, but I'm ambitious. So they don't work together really, but I end up doing everything I need to and reading everything, even if I don't really enjoy it at the time. :P
I like reading a lot of things. I'm not a big fan of history books, or really adult books for that matter unless they're fantasy. xP
I don't really like just plain books about a person, with nothing supernatural or uncommon in it. That's boring. I love Gothic thrillers, like Dracula, Jekyll and Hyde, Picture of Dorian Gray. Apparently the Picture of Dorian Gray is being turned into a film. I can't wait to see that. It's one of my favourite books. But now it's going to be a "chique" book, just because a film is being made.

I was thinking that when I was typing it up. But I thought if I mentioned it, it would sound too cheesy. But yeah, it'd pretty much be like the most awesomest thing ever! Maybe one day I'll own my own library. It'll be in a nice town in France. Then in the countryside, I'll have my own winery. 8)
Second that. Most of them actually ended up getting married right out of high school AND having children. I guess I don't have too much room to talk. I did drop out of high school (because I was bullied severly). But I did get my GED. I really wish I could have got my high school diploma though. With just my GED, it means I have to work five times as hard when I go to university. And I have to complete so many credits within the first two semesters or I get kicked out. :<
Schooling is probably a bit more difficult/challenging there though, right? The don't teach us very quickly here in Amerca. I remember exchange students coming from Europe and Russia. Every single one of them was REALLY advanced in their studies.
I need to be more ambitious. Can you share that, too? I don't mean to sound conceited, but I'm damn smart. I just don't push myself like I should.
We have completely different tastes in books, haha. I am a complete history nerd. I also have a ton of science books. I lub science.
I bought Picture of Dorian Gray at Barnes and Noble. Still haven't read it. It's sitting on my bookshelf. :gonk: I'm not even sure what it's about, haha. I just bought a ton of books because they was cheap. Plus I got a 20% discount with my membership card. 8)

Where do you want the house though? xD Also in France, or just the library? :P
I wouldn't mind the castle attached to it. xP
And it sucks majorly that you dropped out because of bullying. So idiotic, bullying is. But you should feel some level of accomplishment that you're studying further and trying instead of being like them and doing nothing with their life.
And yes, university level in Holland (it's a level higher than college here) is at quite an advanced level. You receive your bachelors after 3 years in Holland, and a masters in 1. The first year of the study you have to get 60 credits to pass onto the next year, which means you can't fail a single exam. But university is much harder to get into. The easiest way to compare it to American education is the level of high school classes. You know, like Honours, Academic and the lowest one, I forget what that is called. :P To get into university, you have to take all honours courses throughout high school and pass them all. To get into college, you have to take all academic classes, and to get into a VO Tech type of college, you have to take only the lowest.
Only about 10% of all students take all honours classes, and only about 6-8% of those go onto university.
And you should read it.
I loved it, but it was quite sinister.
I find history boring. But mostly because I always have to learn about English history. >.> It's the bane of being an English student. *Gives you ambition*
Btw, you should make me a cool avatar. I need a new one. >.>

My house will be next to my winery in France. 8) lols~ I wouldn't mind a castle either. I'll get rich and build my own...someday. D:
I absolutaly hate when people say, "Oh, you only have your GED?" I get really pissed and just start throwing a shiatz load of knowledge at them. And more than just, "Did you know..." I'm certainly not stupid. It really goes to show that Amerca sucks. Because if you drop-out, people only assume you did drugs, got pregnant or you're just stupid. My GPA while in junior and senior high school was always a 3.8 or higher. Hell, my older sister went to BSU and got her BA in Business Managment (which I will be persuing, too). I helped that woman graduate. I basically own half of her diploma! ;<
Wow, the system isn't TOO different, but still pretty strict I think. What a bummer if you managed to fail only once exam that whole school year. I'd be pretty pissed. Because I got my GED, I actually had to take a few classes at the junior college before I applied to universitys.
The education system there does seems tough. I'm glad there are no serious requirments and restrictions here like there is there, though.
I shall start reading it today. And I'll let you know what I think of it when I'm finished. Shouldn't take me very long at all. Unless I don't enjoy it...
I suppose when it's forced on you, you wouldn't like history. But there are so many great things to learn about it. I'm mostly just interested in American history, but like studying others as well. I think my love for the subject sparked after watching all those National Treasure films. Man it would be awesome to discover treasure by using history as clues.
I can't make you an avatar. I'm terrible at it! That's why my avatars are always so simple. XD

I'm curious now, Rando. Why did you make the move to Holland? Were you originally from there? Sorry for being so nosy...!
I'm meeting up with my counselor at the end of this week to discuss going back to a community college for 2 years. I'm hoping to get an associates in something to help me find a desk job so I can stay away from flipping burgers or doing jobs which would require me to be on my feet all day. I would love to do something that would make me feel like I'm making a difference...like something in humanities. Not a nurse, unless they can guarantee I won't be sponge bathing or changing anyone. I've already spoken to two or three ladies who worked in senior homes and it sounds like absolute hell on earth...My neighbor here says that she'd have to work with people there who had dementia and had no idea what is going on and would attack her when she's trying to take care of them and she said believe it or not they hurt when they hit you. She couldn't defend herself either. I wouldn't last a day if I had to be beaten by people...:o

MOM!?! Izumi - more often I talk to you, you sound like my mother. I was just on the phone with her the other day. And she was talking about her job. And how she would never want to be a nurse or nurses assistant; and for the same reasons you just gave!
When I lived with my mother, I worked at a senior home. Mostly just desk work though.
