Kaenai: Absolutely, and sometimes it complains about things which are correct.
I do love checking the spelling suggestions for foreign words in there, though. Some of the suggestions can look hillarious in their new context.

Cricket: Thank you, I've been practicing very hard since I was about 7. ♥
My biggest problem is usually spelling and sentence structure, I tend to do a lot of direct translations when I'm in doubt.

I'm from Sweden so my mother language is Swedish. =3

Well, your sentence structure has looked just fine to me, and I've been reading a ton of your posts because of the event. There's really nothing wrong with it, so you don't have to worry. ^_^

Good, I'm very happy to hear that. =3
I'm always worried I'll make an unintentional error, that's why I use so many smileys.

Aha! Smilies. XD

That's the only error I think I've seen you make, to be honest.

And... Wow, I must be completely insane. I'm writing us a theme song. XD Now I wish I had/knew how to use Flash so I could make a stupid little video for it.

Haha, I love smileys. They're very handy. But I do agree they can be used too much and too often. And I do happily plead guilty on using them way more than what's healthy.
I'll try to hold back if it annoys anyone. Just let me know. I won't be offended, I promise.

Goodness, that sounds... hillarious, actually. :XD (That one does call for a smiley though, it's that brilliant.)
Be sure to let us know when you're done so we can see it!

Err. I meant the mistake you made was when spelling the word. You're spelling it with a y, but there isn't a y in the plural word. It's, "Smilies."

It is? I had no idea. Well, you learn something every day! =3

So... it's one smiley, several smilies?

Yeah. Plural words rarely have the y in them if they end in s. Instead they'll have 'ies' in place of the y.

Yeah..
If it ends in 'vowel-y', then it's 'ys' for plural.
If a word ends in 'consonant-y', then it's 'ies' for plural.

Like: "monkey, monkeys" or "buy, buys"
and: "jelly, jellies" or "kitty, kitties"

^^

Yup! Especially in English; there's a rule for everything, and an exception to just about every rule. xD

It's like French! :XD
Those exceptions can be mighty tricky to locate for non-native speakers.

Kae explained it a lot better than I could've. ^^;; I can't explain English, I can just speak it. XD

Thanks for telling her (Youn's female, right? o.O) that. It might make it a little easier.

Yes, I'm female. =3

But you never know online. Especially if the avatars can be as easily changed as on here.
I think my avatar was male for half the event. XD

Yeah, your avatar was male for half of the event, that's why I asked instead of assuming. ^^;;

I hate it when I get called female when my avatar is female. It's like, it's female for five minutes and suddenly the entire site is calling me female, even those that know my avatar is usually male. It's frustrating. T__T

I used a male avatar as a mule for another site but I had to stop using it because it seriously spooked me out when everyone strated calling me "dude" on my main account (which had a female avatar).

A lot of gamers I've met online has refused to believe I was a girl. They were all "Noooo~! G1rlz d0n't exist 0n teh Intarwebz!". Almost litterary.
I thought it was rather amusing. I've also been accused of being a bot several times because I'm not very talkative when I play online games. (I'm too busy trying not to die to type.)

They totally are. English is really tricky for non-native speakers (or so I've heard), because of all the exceptions.

I'm not great at explaining things, either; I remember that one mostly because it's what my mother used to tell me. I already knew to do it, but she explained to me why. She was a good teacher before she got burned out, and switched careers.

I have one male avatar on one site, but I prefer the female ones in general. I just can't get used to being a guy! >w<
Probably because I'm not one. lol

Kaenai: I know, me neither!
A friend of mine wrote an essay on gender in online worlds and she just couldn't understand why I'd always choose to play a female avatar even though I could choose a male one too.
She was too fixated on the thought of the possibilities, she just never really got that I chose the female avatar, not because of any patriarchial structures, but simply because I like viewing myself as female.

Same here; i just don't really like making the switch. Even that male avatar doesn't get much use. Actually, I haven't even logged on to that account in nearly a year, I think. xD

I wonder why your friend was so incredulous? I think it's natural to select your own gender, in many cases. And many sites (though I haven't seen it on Mene) make much nicer items/clothes for female characters, so a lot of guys choose them for that reason.

-wonders why Cricket sometimes chooses a girl-

Kaenai: I think she was just upset I wouldn't prove her thesis that the Internet "liberated people out of their confined gender roles".
"Test person A motivated her choice of an avatar with the same gender as herself with the comment: 'I just really rather prefer this one. Personally'." probably wasn't that groundbreaking as she'd hoped. <.<

I do like the freedom of being able to chose the avatar's gender that easily. It makes for a fun change once in a while if you want to roleplay or just see if it affects people's responses.

@ Sasa :: :poke: ^^;

@ Youn :: I agree; I don't think any other avatar site I'm a member of has the freedom to switch so easily. I like tht about menewsha. I'll probably change at least once while I'm here, but probably on my mule. >w<
