I use to tan as a child but not as an adult. I'm a weird, yellowy pale. Basically went from being a child who exclusively spent all her time outside to a young adult who doesn't get to spend much time in the sun...

Sun hurts my eyes because they are super sensitive... Granted I don't really wear sunglasses, so that doesn't help.

How does being fat make one unable to tan?

So our A/C just got fixed, omg thank gawds.
It was 4 days of 80F inside. @[email protected]

We stayed in a hotel last night because we had a lot to do today, and needed to make sure we slept. ><

Also I'm pretty sure the landlord is paying for the A/C repairs, because it was her negligence that caused the problem. The tech said the coil hadn't been cleaned in years and our dryer vent vents right next to the A/C outside. So it was very dirty. And apparently there was also a leak of freon. :/

Yeah, but that doesn't surprise me in the least.
She made us pay for plumbing and accused us (me) of flushing tampons (I don't use tampons).
smh
And then when we moved in, there was a clogged sink, that kept flooding every time we did the laundry, and so we asked the plumber while he was here one of the times, to try to unclog it. bam, it stopped flooding. she had previously told us it was "nothing to worry about" and that it "wasn't clogged just drained slowly"
pshaw.

Sounds like an award-winning landlord there *sarcasm*. I've been lucky in that I have never had to deal much with landlords. Parents have been renting the house they are in for 20+years. As far as I know, my parents have never really had issues with them. Only other time I rented a place was when I was in college and it was school affiliated housing. Again, not bad. But my younger brother definitely has dealt with a few slumlords in the city.

Yeah my landlord is pretty terrible. :/ She also overcharges us on rent. But we were kindof in a bind when we signed the lease initially so we didn't really have a choice. it was that or a smaller home that if my bf got the work at home job (which he did get) we wouldn't have been able to do it.

I mean, my parents got their house at a steal for rent where they are. You pretty much cannot hope to get what they have for what they are paying.
That is tough to have to decide on. But I assume it's only for a year? So hopefully you can find something else and push through the time you have left.

We're out in july. If we have to stay somewhere temporarily, we'll put pretty much everything in storage and stay at my boyfriend's parents house, we'd actually spend less on storage units than renting a place anyway, and his parents wouldn't charge us anything. they actually asked him if he wanted to move back in a while ago anyway...and i've been dating their son for nearly 3 years, i come over at christmas, thanksgiving, birthdays, mother's day, etc.
but we *really* don't want to stay there so i think we'll make it work out sooner rather than later
I really want this house and i think it looks like it's going to happen, but i would like to spend less rather than more money on fixing it up

That isn't long away. And I understand the need to not move back in with the parents.

Just be careful with a fixer upper, is all I can say. My BF's place was one and they cut some corners (mind you this was happening while he was in school for architecture). He definitely has some regrets now that are costing more money than if they had been done right the first time.

Its not super a fixer upper, but most of the appliances (that they want to leave) don't work. >_>
and there's some poor electrical work in the kitchen, which is a worry.

and i want to redo the carpets
but thats about it

I've owned more than I've rented. It's better.

Leftover appliances can be a pain to deal with. Personally if you don't think you could negotiate them to replace, I'd at least ask that they be taken out beforehand. Getting rid of certain appliances can be a real pain.

Poor electrical work in any room is terrible but it's really bad for kitchen, I would think. Right now, power is funky in our spare bedroom (again, part of my BF's family's attempts to save included a not so great electrician).

Overall, that isn't too bad.

Eh, I say it all comes down to circumstances. Like I said, my parents have rented the same home for 20+ years and no problems. But I have also heard renters horror stories. Vice versa for owning. Personally, I'd like to own a condo.

Renting can be better than owning it really depends. If you have job which you can make yourself very valuable you will move a lot. A house roots you in one place and heavily limits where you can work.

I know it may sound silly but could you possibly call firefighters?
