Case 001 - Entry 001
The Case of a Psychotic 14-Year-Old.
“Mommy! Daddy! Look at what I drew in class today!”
Fayte held a piece of paper with a young child’s scribbles of a drawing. In the picture was of herself, along with her parents holding hands under a rainbow. The colors seemed a little mismatched, but she was a child nonetheless.
“Let Daddy see…”
Her father reached his hand out to the picture, only to be pushed away swiftly by the mother.
“She asked for me first!”
The mother got hold of the picture and gazed down at her child lovingly.
“Aww…that’s such a beautiful picture. Wait…you drew Daddy prettier than Mommy…”
The mother looked at the picture intensely.
“Clearly Fayte likes me more, right Fayte?”
"I—"
Her mother only abruptly cut off the child’s response to correct the father she believed to be wrong.
“No! She loves me! Right, Fayte?”
The child couldn’t even utter a word of truce between them. Even though she was only six years old, she knew the relationship between her parents were very sour. A small action of anyone in the family could cause the ruckus of words being thrown between them.
The small smile on her face was wiped off as she slowly walked towards her room with the drawing in her hand, which had been dropped by her mother, at some point into the arguement. She entered her room and closed the door behind her. She roamed to her desk and slid open the first drawer and placed the drawing inside. Underneath it were similar drawings, a ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ card, and a ‘Happy Father’s Day’ card. She could only hope that they wouldn’t start a fight over who would be taking her to Trick-or-Treating.
She slowly crawled into bed and pulled the covers over her ears. It had been this way for as long as she began to understand the basic interactions between people.
“Please…stop yelling…”
Fayte tried to shut out their bickering voices and squeezed her brown eyes shut.
“Please…”
