"Well, uhm, maybe you can teach me?" she timidly asked. Michiru watched as everyone else at the ring danced one of the traditional dances that many onlookers and passersby such as herself were watching.

"I'm not much of a swordfighter, as much as I am a sword performer kinda guy. I do kendo at the building that's a couple of blocks from here. Sensei's pretty laid-back too, and a great instructor. That, and swimming are two of the main things I like to do. Traveling's great too. Never knew I'd meet a person who was into that around my age. So what kinda places have you been to?" Rain felt a good connection with this guy - Kiba didn't seem as mean as his appearance first gave off.

Kaiyo shrugged, tapping her chin thoughtfully. On one hand she wasn't that good or good of a teacher; on the other hand it might be fun. "Eh, I don't know. I'm a bad teacher."

Kiba nodded. "Sounds cool, I haven't been in a dojo in a time. I guess I've been from here to Nagasaki which was pretty exciting. You tend to run into many people when you travel, from foreigners to performers, to people that want to hurt you for no reason." He scratched the back of his head. Rain seemed to be an okay guy. Someone that would make a good acquaintance.

"Well, I guess you could show me how you dance, and perhaps I could follow?" She figured asking questions was an easier way to make friends and get to know a person. At least Kaiyo was being nice to her. "I'm a bad teacher at anything else, as well."

Rain was amazed. "Wow, you do get out a lot! Hey, maybe we can go across Japan sometime. It'd be cool to get further out. I mean yeah, you know, this is a small town, and it's always been home but nobody can really stay in one place forever, right?" he suggested.

Kaiyo shrugged. "Maybe, but I can't guarantee that you won't get embarrassed out there." She grabbed onto to Michiru's arm, lightly tugging her to the dance ring.

Kiba nodded "Yeah I know what you mean. It'd be nice traveling with others."

"Embarrassed? Me?" Michiru was giggling uneasily. She did get embarrassed often, which is why she refused to show up in public. But she wasn't allowed to go home until she actually DID something at the festival, and Rain would most definitely be watching for her. She followed Kaiyo towards the ring.

"So, you wanna find some girls to dance with or do you wanna watch Kaiyo and Michi mess with the dancing over there?" he said, pointing out the girls going deep into the so-called "ring of fire." He called it that in his head since everyone was still near the fire. At least it was warm ENOUGH that it wasn't blazing hot outside.

Kaiyo smiled as she saw Michiru arrive at the ring. Dancing or at least party dancing wasn't so much about technique, but rather following the rhythm of the song and making sure that you didn't look like an idiot. Traditional or performed dancing was more technical and time consuming to learn since you had to look good, where as something more casual like this could have just as many people messing up.

Kiba shrugged. "Either way it would make for a good show, though I've already seen Kaiyo mess up around on her own. I guess we might as well find some other girls."

"I dunno man, heh, your cousin's kinda cute," Rain mumbled, trying to make himself sound inaudible. He took a look at Kaiyo with Michiru before turning towards Kiba. "Eh, you can lead the way." He didn't know where Kiba would look around to pick up girls at.

She smiled uneasily. "Sooo...how do we start?" she asked. She looked to everyone else that was around them, and they were pretty much having fun. Michiru knew that if she tried she'd probably bounce around, trip on a rock, and scream, falling.

Kiba stared at Rain for a second, swearing he head something, but dismissed it, figuring that he head something else. He stole a glance at Michiru, taking into detail her features. She was one of the better looking girls he had run into in his life. In a cute sort of way. "Alright." He whipped his head around, seeing a circle of girls dancing near the fire. "Want to try your luck on them?"

Kaiyo looked around, seeing that everyone started to dance. She then turned to Michiru. "Alright, for these types of dances all you need to know is a few basic moves. the first one being this." She raised her arms up, moving them to form a bit of an "S" shape and then stepping back and then forward again, putting her arms down. She probably looked like a bit of an idiot, but it was for a good cause.

"Who would you have in mind?" he smiled. His head turned back towards Kaiyo for a split second. He only met the pair just a while ago, and was already thinking of dancing with the girl. "Go pick yourself a girl and I'll pick a dance partner for myself." Taking a step forward, he suddenly felt silly for thinking Kaiyo would dance with him. He was all right with traditional dances but with newer people, he usually fumbled with his feet.

Michiru tried to follow Kaiyo's instructions, but weakly. "Like this?" she asked. It was a bit weird for her to replicate the S-shape, but it looked like everyone else around them was doing the same in a rehearsed sort of manner. "Okay, and then what?" she continued, referring to the next bit of instruction.

((Hope you have fun on your vacation!))

Kiba shrugged. "I'll pick someone." He looked over at Michiru, tempted to ask her to dance with him, but then again he wasn't much of a dancer or a social person. He looked around for some different girls, seeing most of them partnered up already. Maybe he should just go and ask her now. He made his way closer to Michiru, but still held a bit of doubt.

Kaiyo smiled encouragingly. "Don't worry, you're doing fine!" She made her own S-shape. "Alright, then you take three steps back and then forward again in a sort of bouncy way," She thought back her lessons, pausing for a minute before continuing. "Oh, and then you change the position of your arms into a V."

Michiru giggled. She felt silly, yet she continued doing what Kaiyo tried to teach her. "Bouncy?" she asked, feeling like she looked really ridiculous out there. At least Kaiyo managed to make it look good. Michiru was just clumsy. She pulled her arms up into the V position then. "I hope I don't step on anybody's feet when we really get into it," she joked, being half-serious.

Rain thought for a bit, his hand under his chin, and he mustered the courage to march himself up to Kaiyo, who still had Michiru next to her. "Hey, wanna dance?" he finally sputtered out, hoping it was loud enough although not TOO loud, considering the volume of the music being played around them. "I hope Michiru didn't tire you out," he added. Michiru then punched him in the gut and he winced.

"Thanks a lot, brother," she glared at him. "But yeah...you two should dance together. This really isn't my thing," she sweatdropped. "Rain's a great dancer, too."

Kaiyo giggled. "Don't worry. I doubt that you're that clumsy." She saw Rain walk up, wondering what he wanted. Did he want to dance? She almost blushed at the thought. The only person she had ever danced with were people that she had been related to by blood or marriage for the most part so it felt new to dance with him. "Sure. I've still got a lot of energy left." She smiled at Michiru, seeing Kiba approach. "Alright. I'm sure Kiba will keep you company while we dance."

Kiba shot a glare at Kaiyo, having been revealed. He had planned to ask Michiru to dance, but supposed that this would work too. He walked up to Michiru, standing next to her. "I guess that makes two of us then. I'm not much of a dancer either."

"I don't know. I'm not into dancing. You're not into dancing. Do you really wanna look like a fool up here? I say let those two have their fun." She bowed to Kaiyo. "Thank you for the dance lessons, but I think I need some practice before stepping into the ring of fire." Michiru then turned to Rain. "Have fun, okay? And don't cause any trouble for Kaiyo either," she warned.

Rain chuckled and put his hands up. "Don't worry sis, we'll still be here. Sorry 'bout this Kiba. Little sister's a bit bossy." He looked to Kaiyo. "Shall we?" he offered, motioning to continue the dance. "This is more something I do rather than Michi try." He then waved to the other two. "Hey Kiba, you and me hang out sometime later, all right?" he suggested. "You still gotta check out my sensei's dojo."

Kiba shrugged. "Eh, it's fine." I've dealt with bossy before. He stepped out of the ring, nodding to Rain. "Of course. I wouldn't miss checking out a dojo."

"Aw, well alright." Kaiyo smiled, though a bit sad that Michiru wouldn't dance. She nodded to Rain as she continued to dance. "I know what you mean."

Rain followed along Kaiyo's movements, trying to dance like the other pairs and quickly getting into step with everyone else. "You know, I'm glad I met you and your brother tonight. Gives me something interesting to find out about, and you two definitely got my sister into staying here." He smiled as he kept moving rhythmically with her movements.

After walking a bit of the way out of Rain and Kaiyo's earshot, and to a quiet spot of the town, she turned to face her companion. "So...I hear you like swords, huh?" Michiru asked. Not one to fight a lot, she did have some experience in combat, although she wasn't looking to pick a fight with someone twice her size, at least not yet.

Kaiyo danced, agreeing with Rain. "I'm glad I met both of you too. It seems like you two have kept Kiba's interest too." She moved some more, listening to the music and moving to the beat.

Kiba listened to the voices and music from the Ring of Fire slowly get more distant as he and Michiru finally got to a quiet spot in town. He nodded to her, wondering what her likes consisted of. "Have anything you like?"

Rain was afraid of being too forward with someone that he just met. Therefore, after long moments of dancing and most of the couples leaving the ring, "Would you like to take a break from this? I'm a little out of breath," he laughed uneasily, really wanting to sit down. He wasn't sure if Kaiyo wanted to keep dancing, but she sure looked beautiful at it. 'She's really pretty,' he thought to himself.

"Anything I like? Hm...nobody's ever asked me that before." Michiru thought for a bit. "For starters, I'm definitely not a girly girl so I really hate the yukata I'm wearing, but everyone else is doing it. But that doesn't quite help, does it? Okay then...I like to write poetry," she finally concluded. "I don't fight with swords, like you do. Rather, I like hand-to-hand combat," she admitted.

Kaiyo was silent, only dancing for a long while as people started to leave. "Yeah, I'm kind of tired too." She could have gone on, but in truth she had preferred to talk with Rain more. She was interested in him and as she found out a bit more than a friend.

Kiba nodded, glad that she wasn't into all that girly stuff. He had a hard time socializing with girls like that which explains why he was friends with Kaiyo. She was rather well balanced. "Poetry? Sounds interesting." He paused for a moment, raising an eyebrow when he heard that she liked hand-to-hand combat. "Really? How much experience do you have?"

He breathed a sigh of relief and smiled. Rain led her out of the dance ring since they were pretty deep inside it by now. "So, how old are you?" he asked as an icebreaker. Kaiyo looked to be around his age, if not exactly. She looked really mature, in any case, and hoped he wouldn't do anything wrong. It was pretty much in his nature to be a gentleman around women, though laid-back with anyone in general. Though he felt kinda embarrassed and flushed because he hasn't been out on a date in ages. The last one he had was a potential arranged marriage, but thank god the girl ran away with her boyfriend.

"Well, to tell you the truth, my dad didn't believe in not standing up for yourself and protecting yourself. He didn't exactly protect my brother and I either, so we learned martial arts at a really young age." She scratched her head, not really denying the bruises she got through her "training." It didn't bother her at all, though. Michiru wanted to be different from other girls, and her way was to not act like one at all. "Poetry's just something spur of the moment. I think of a subject and just end up writing whatever about it that comes to mind. It's rather silly, actually," she laughed, embarrassed, but she prided herself more on her physical training than intellectual (not to say that she wasn't smart, though, she was also a bookworm due to her shyness of meeting others).

Kaiyo tilted her head, looking at Rain. "Around seventeen years old. How old are you?" He was at least as old as her, if not older. Or maybe that was just because he was taller. Of course, a lot of people were taller than her. She wasn't too sure what to talk about though as most of the time she had another person to play off of. Well it also came from a lack of dating or running away from some of them.

Kiba nodded, listening to her. He had first learned from his father the basics and polished on that, especially during his travels, though he got beat up a lot. He never actually tried poetry that much, at least writing. Occasionally he would pick up a piece of poetry by chance and find some enjoyment out of it, but not often. "Well it doesn't sound that silly. I really don't have much else than sword fighting and traveling."

"Eighteen," he replied, rubbing the back of his head. "Since a couple of months ago." It was close enough. At least there wasn't a huge difference. Rain didn't exactly know what to ask Kaiyo to get to know her. At last something came to mind. "So you do some dancing...are there any other hobbies that you have?" he finally asked. He thought of what to say next, but there really wasn't anything he could think of for discussion on such short notice.

"Your swordfighting...do you think you could show me what you do?" Michiru still wasn't quite fond of swords, although the possibility of fencing always came to mind. She never thought to take upon any real training, and wouldn't ask her father because he never listened to his kids. Not that he was abusive, he just rarely showed any affection to his children. That was his way of teaching them the real world.

Eighteen? Keiyo didn't suspect him to be older, but it wasn't too big of a gap like some couples she knew about. She pressed her lips together not sure what to say next until Rain asked another question. "Uh, I guess that I also read a lot and I learn to fight with fans." Though she usually used that fighting art for mostly aesthetic purposes. "Anything you like to do?"

Kiba shrugged. "Sure." He was used to an audience sometimes watching him, but he never showed off. Okay sometimes he did, but it still wasn't something he was completely used to. He took his sword out of his sheath, seeing the light from the paper lanterns reflect off of it. He got into position, taking a small breath before giving a few quick slashes in the air: diagonal, vertical, horizontal. Left, right. He then lowered his stance and jumped, spinning in the air before delivering a slash in the air.

"Well I do like to train," he admitted. "But I don't intentionally fight. Only in self-defense," Rain clarified. "And I told your cousin that I sometimes travel around the country, though not often. Can't stay away from home too long, you know?" He was quite interested though, on how Kaiyo said she fought with fans. "I've seen people fight with fans before. Quite a beautiful thing, too. Really."

She raised an eyebrow. Yeah, he was good, very good, but Michiru wouldn't let on that she was impressed. After all, she hadn't spent enough time around people of the opposite sex to trust them (with the exception of her father and Rain, of course). "You seem well-skilled." Michiru didn't know whether or not he would be arrogant and vain about his skills, though.

"Yeah. I kind of get homesick whenever I travel." Kaiyo, unlike Kiba had a better attachment to their home. She couldn't blame him though since he found staying in one place too long to be boring. "Really? Thanks I guess. Sword fighting can be a beautiful thing too."

Kiba put his sword back into its sheath, nodding. "Thanks." He flashed a grin, though not meaning to look arrogant. He had a lot of trust in skills, but tried not to flaunt it unless challenged. He walked back to Michiru. "So, you like hand-to-hand combat? Any cool techniques?"

"But most people do swordfighting. Not many realize that there's a potential weapon hidden within the distracting beauty of a fan, or a pretty girl using one for that matter," he grinned. "Anyway I came home specifically for the festival. Now that my sister's learning to meet people, even for her age - sixteen - she's still shy and needs my help. I guess I'll be seeing you more often then?"

"Yes...I do." She took off her yukata, still with her normal clothes underneath which pretty much enhanced her mobility. Michiru spun around, and punched out a hand, elbows being pulled back at times, spinning again to do her signature scissor kick. She lunged and leapt into the air backwards to do a handspring, ending with Michiru being crouched on the ground. "It's not much, but it's something at least," she thought.
