considering i just got a nephew my mind is in some weird mood thinking about my future with mike. and now i'm looking up engagement rings. i've concluded and he knows i don't want normal gold since by the time he gets me one, we'll be close to the $100,000 loan debt combined from schools. so i want silver. and i don't want a normal diamond. i would love to have amethyst. ... whats sad is i found rings that i love and think look pretty, that are under $100. and/or are in a reasonable price range

I.. haven't looked at engagement rings, but now I'm actually a bit curious just to poke around and see what's out there. Personally, I think it's silly to put down such a large chunk of change on a ring. I'd rather buy a house. Still, my materialistic side wants something pretty to put on my finger. Thank god there's stuff that's cheap AND pretty. Like duct tape. ;D

yeah. a girl in my youthgroup. a friend of her's- she and her b/f were poor, so this girls engagement ring was a key ring

i'm happy i find rings that i like that are only under $50. i dunno if they're any good. i found some that are silver and amethyst and are base price under $35

Er, see, if a guy asked me to marry him with a key ring I'd be disinclined to accept. :\ It's not even a real ring! That's just SAD.

I'm having fun looking now. Why would anyone spend $2,000 on a ring when there are some that are just as pretty for $100?

Yotsy's engagement ring and wedding band together cost about $600 >.>;
They are 14k gold and there are a total of 18 diamonds between the two. xD.
I love them to death. *nodnod* But when I was looking at rings, I did look for cheapest.
But I found out that ring places tend to have some really nice sales >.>;

i don't get it either. i love some of the ones i've been finding for under $150. my limit for mike is he's not allowed to spend more than $300.

eh i got proposed to with a $4 bracelet last october. he stated that its a temporary ring that i shall receive when we wed.

Fabby- I checked out the black opal. Looks pretty cool. There was one peice that was kind of shaped like a tooth. I wonder if my dentist could put it in for me. lol.

All of you ladies should tell your men to work some overtime, then they can get you any type of ring you want. Rings can also be financed if there's one that you like that might be a little more expensive. I've seen 1K diamonds for 1,000 bucks and sometimes even cheaper also depending on the metal. Did you know that platnum years ago was used to make a part on car muffelers? Just a cool fact. I don't understand why they charge so much for it now.

eh. with mine all im gonna tell him is i trust him and i know he will search a LONG time to find the perfect ring. and i know whatever he finds i'll love anyway. that and he knows me too well and knows i don't like him spending a lot

I found one I really love on eBay for $37. I think I should buy it and give it to myself as a gift, but I don't wear rings. xD
I trust my boyfriend to be... a bit too frugal about it. He said he was going to get me cubic zirconia, and I was like, 'what?! You're not even getting me a real stone?' O_O;;

i think mine would get me a real stone.... granted he would be frugal about it, but he has this whole wants to spoil me and says i deserve good things.

Jon was totally baffled when I said that getting a zirconia ring was cheap. But it's basically plastic. There are lots of stones you can get that aren't expensive. It's not too materialistic to want something... decent, is it?

Anyway, he's a sweet guy, he just doesn't get things like this. >w<

yeah. i'm not one who wants a diamond b/c they're too normal. and i'm not one who wants the typical things. plus i like amethyst better.

price wise... we're both frugal. but he knows what i would like and know he'll take forever.

If my boyfriend ever gets me a ring, I want it to be a claddagh ring in either silver or white-gold. No diamonds for me, I'm always afraid to wear diamond rings because I fear the diamond might fall out. >.>

I don't really want a diamond either. I'm far more fond of colored stones. A garnet would be nice. Or an aquamarine, they're my birthstone and they're quite a pretty color.

yeah. i would be afraid of the same thing with the diamond. i like amethyst since purple is my fave color and then opal is the other one since thats my birthstone

Apparently opals work really badly as ring stones, though. They can't take much abuse.
