I think I also do a lot of mistakes during writing ... and I guess my grammar sucks. English isn't my maternal language, I'm from germany. I learned it in school and I do my very best, to write properly. ._."

I only have a few specific spelling pet peeves, really. Bad spelling/grammar bothers me to death when it makes things impossible to read...but I don't mind the occasional typo or anything like that. I'm actually pretty forgiving for the most part, especially since not everyone on the internet is a native English speaker.

But what DOES drive me completely insane is when people -- usually native English speakers -- spell "would" as "whould" and/or "could" as "chould." I've seen people MY AGE do this. T_T
For the love of Agate, do they just not teach you how to spell those words right in SECOND GRADE anymore?

That one just bothers me. I can't help it. It drives me insane. >.<;

That, and I HATE when people use text messaging shorthand for EVERYTHING THEY SAY. Also, when people act like they don't even have a shift key (or any keys other than the basic letters + space bar), that makes me want to slap them.

And among the worst, I hate when people throw raNdOm caPiTal LetTErs inTo tHeIr wordS liKe tHIs beCaUSE thEy tHInK iT LooKs cUtE.
...that was painful to type.

Those are the unforgivable crimes of internet grammar, to me.

Yeah, my cousin has a tendency to use both capital and lower case letters excessively like that. It it very bothersome. I mean, what is so cool about it? It looks stupid. d:

^tell me thats an attempt at a joke? It makes you appear stupid. There's very little grammar and its so hard to read... yick. I really hope that was a joke.

teehee, alternating caps! Curse of the old school... no one did that back in the day? Although the people who do it now probably weren't around back in the day :D
It was all the rage about 10 years ago :) Maybe they're stuck in the 90's? :P

Another thing I can't stand (other than this keyboard!!) is people mixing up their, there and they're or where, were and we're... brought and bought! That type of thing... drives me nutty!

Jesus fuck. Emochild sounded like a moron.

I don't get the appeal of making yourself look like an ignorant fool. Most countries are ashamed of their illiteracy rate. And we're glorifying it, and trying to mimic it? What the hell.

I'd be embarrassed to act like I was any less intelligent then I am.

It shows that you don't have the time to actually show that you have some intelligence. Anyone can "txttlk". It takes a person with knowledge to show their vocabulary and spelling.

I really cannot stand people saying or typing 'dat' instead of 'that' *shudders* it makes me think they're a 3 year old that hasn't learnt to speak yet.

and 'cum' instead of 'come' do these people realise what they're saying? Probably not smart enough.

It actually makes me wonder what kind of "come" they're talking about. And if they're talking about the dirty kind, I don't really want to hear that.

I hate when people don't know the difference between "they're", "there" and "their". Also when they don't know whether it's okay to put an apostrophe in "its". I use firefox so I have automatic spell-check on mine. If I don't fix it, words sit there underlined in bright red and it's really annoying.

I also don't believe in giving 110% effort. I don't think you can give anything more than what you have in a day, which is inadvertently 100% yes? I understand it's just a saying, but I hate when people say it in sports and whatnot, I tend to get into arguments.

I hate it when people have constant run on sentences. It gets so confusing that you can't understand what they're saying. Oh, and walls of text. Those give me terrible headaches.

Let me apologize in advance. I am one of those people that can't spell. Hopefully there is not mistakes in this post since I am trying extra hard for your sake. The sad thing is that I do have spell check. xD

A pet peeve of mine... I don't really have any. My sister is about my only pet peeve. Just about anything that comes out of her mouth urks me to no end. Urk is not a word btw, but it is the best description for my feelings.

Julia, that's perfectly fine. Try your hardest and you won't bother people with your spelling. :3 a few misspelled words aren't a problem. Most of the post misspelled is. >.>

Urk is considered a word.. (Actually, I think it's spelled irk. To annoy. :3)

Haha. Sometimes slang DOES become acceptable. :3

Haha. :3 I was trying to remember whether it was "Erk" or "Irk" XD

My mom uses that word. She's the one who taught me the reality of it. :3

It's weird, it's not pronounced like an I... XD

I like to use the once-awhile "lulz" or "omg" n_n; as a joke.
I think it's okay to make some mistakes if you're learning, other wise show some effort. Although, I do make a mistake once in a while. Thank goodness for firefox! =D

There's a kid who signed my yearbook, and wrote like half a page. There are random period and sentence endings, and he spelled 'especially" E-X-P-E-C-A-L-L-Y.

What he wrote was pretty sweet when you consider I barely know him.

Until I read that, I couldn't fathom why the kid wasn't in honors like me for English next year (he's in honors math and science, because he's one of the few that can kick my arse in math).

I personally really dislike Grammar Nazi that absolutely blow up on your for spelling, especially those who don't tend to realise things are spelled differently here in the UK. I once had someone give me a big and long tirade on how I spelled 'color' with 'colour'. I think calling me a dumb f*ck for that was a little much. -_-; In everyday life with work and school I can understand how correct grammar is very essential but when it's on the internet I feel that you can be a bit lax with it.

So in simple terms, spelling mistakes are okay with me as long as I can understand you.

I'd say my biggest pet peeve is when people having billions of lines of coding in their post. It takes forever to find the end and to respond to it.

I don't want to name anyone but yes - it gets annoying when certain people do it excessively. A little bit I can take - if you have a more-or-less decent grammar I don't mind a few spelling mistakes or grammar mistakes like "he told Mary and I" or whatever.

But when it gets to the point when even a fast-reader can pick your mistakes out easily or if your stuff is incomprehensible...

The worst thing is that firefox now has a built-in spellcheck, it just works even if you don't click anything. How lazy can you possibly be?

Don't even get me started on people who do it on purpose.

UGH. I hate when people use the wrong form of the word, like the they're/their/there thing, or they don't use contrations correctly.

You just have to say it as the whole sentence. "You're going somewhere"- You are going somewhere. The sentence still fits, so it's okay.
