"Who are they?" he asked but she'd already gone. He wasn't sure who they were but he was quite ready to fend them off if he had to. He moved his hair back slightly and flexed his arms slightly. The muscle was hard, as if he'd worked out a lot. "Yukina," he called. "Who are they?"

Yukina poked her head out of the room."there ..er uh...my...landlords",she said disapearing back into the room.She then came out with some cash in hand. Then there was a pond on the door.

"Land lords?" he asked as he followed her. He wasn't sure about hem but he knew if they did anything he'd probably snap on them and break their necks. "Are they human?" He needed to know that much because he didn't want to get into an unneeded mess.

"more or less",she said sarcasticly.Yukina went over to the door after putting her hat on.When she did open the door, the tree men pushed thier way in.

Men 1: ahh Yukina i see you put your hat on this time and hid those distastful ears" ,he said brushing her face with his fingures.

Yukina slaped his hand away and gave him the money. "here just take it and go please..",she said looking at the ground.

Damien had disappeared for the most part but he was still watching and listening to every word. He would attack if she was provoked but he was sure that she could defend herself. They smelled foul, like the worst thing he'd ever came in contact with. He wanted to throw up in their prescence because it bothered him so much. He didn't though and just stayed there, frozen in place, hidden behind a door.

The second man laughed as he cconed the money."heh your short ",he said looking at her.
Yukina glared at them. "i-i am not every last cent is there!",she said angerly.
The third man made his way to yukina.he punched the wall right beside yukinas head.
Yukina flinches and looked at the guy striaght in the eye."im not short.its all there weather you like t or not....",
The first guy glared at yukina and hit her across the face. "lissen , your lucky we let you stay here so if we say your short your short got!",the mas hollard.
Yukina just nodded wothout looking at them.

Damien was tempted to move out at the moment but didn't since he ad nothing to do at the moment. He made a low noise that might distract them. He was hoping they'd come back here because he could easily take care of them.

The three men looked around at the sound* "who else is in here?", one of the men said.
Yukina looked up at them."n-no one",she reaplied.
The three of them looked at each othere and headed to where the noise came from.

Damien grabbed the first one by the throat when he'd approached the area that he was in. A low growl was issued from his throat and he began to squeeze until the man was gasping for air. "I'd like to give you two some advice," he said with an authoritative tone. "When someone says they've given you enough money, accept it."

Yukina blinked watching him.
The secon mand ,being freaked out nodded ."y-yes of corse...uh...p-please let my friend go!

"All right," he said. "I won't kill him this time but if I ever findout you're treating her like this again one of you will die. I'll be sure to let her pick." He had let go of the guy at that point, shoving him into his comrads before walking over to where Yukina was.

Yukina looked at him with a ligtht blush.she was speachless.no one had ever done that to her.
The three man ran out of there as fast as thier legs could take them.
Yukina watchsed as the car sped down the street and far away from the building.She looked back at Damien. "t-thank you",she said neviously.

"It's fine," he said. "I hate jerks like that anyways. Could have snapped that guys neck right there if I wanted to." He was grinning slightly but when he realized it he stopped himself. "Anyways go back to sleep so you're awake for work tomorrow."

Yukina looked at him for a bit then smiled."thanks ageain",she said and went back to laying on the couch.She soon fell asleep.The cheek thatone of the men had hit her was starting to form a slight bruise.Yukina curlled herself up into a little ball.She felt safe,knowing Damien was there. Although she had a strange feeling he whould be gine by sun up. Even if that was the case she was glad that he was there for the time being.

Damien had just begun to realize the dangers of being in this particular area. It was sunny out almost all day for one thing, which meant that he could never walk out on the streets. The second was being that he had no where to hide. He went into one of the back rooms here that had no windows and sat down.

Yukina woalk up the next day.she sat up and stretched .as she looked around the room she saw Damien had wasnt there. She smiled slightly.She didnt mind that he had left. After he was so kind as to stay there all night with her. She got up and made a quick bite to eat and then got a shower. After she got out she had her clean waitress uniform on.She scrambled around the apratment grabing things for work.She then stoped and flicked on the tv to see what the weather was going to be like. "sunny morning and a cloudy after noon.with showers by the evenig",she said to herself going to the closet grbbing an unbrella."just in case i get stuck working over time ageain",she said and looked around the apartment once more.She then locked the door and sped off to the caffe.

Damien sighed when she left knowing that she didn't even know he was there. He moved out slowly, avoiding large amounts of sun light as he did so. If he could aovid the windows and close all the blinds he could stay in here for a while. He managed to get the blinds shut before he moved around, making a dish dirty to make it look like he'd eaten something. He hated hiding things like this, it was ridiculous.

By mid afternoon the sun was hidden well behind the clouds."oh joy",she thought to herself as she clocked out. She wa happy that for onve she didnt have to work over time,but she hated that she had to pic up a bunch of groceries .After going to the supper market ,she was on her way home.Sje smiled slightly when it started to rain .She loved the smell of rain,for her it was ... calming. Then she relized that she had forgotten her unbrella at work."aw man".she sighed and began a light jog towards her apartment.

Damien was begining to notice that it was raining and he opened the shades so she wouldn't get suspicious. He sat down on the couch and stayed there, pretending to sleep and he' be able to wake up afterwards and pretend like he was sleeping. If it was convincing he'd be lucky.

Yukina got to her apartment and after unloking the door shewent in.She blinked seeing damien on the couch.she quitly shut the door and went into the kitchen and stareted to put the grosheries away.She smiled that he was still here ater all.

He turned slightly to make it more realistic. He'd spent a lot of time watching people sleep to perfect this. He slowly began to open his eyes after a moment and he sat up. "Oh, sorry I kind of fell asleep on your couh," he said with a faint smile.

Yukina looked at him and smiled."its alright i dont mind",she said finisheing up with the groshies."did you sleep well?",she asked starting to tidey up the apartment.

"Yes," he said as he stretched slightly, thought it was merely so he could move a bit. He moved towards where she was going, watching her as she went through her actions. "How long have you lived on your own?"

Yukina looked at him,"hmm since i was twelve so about five or six years",she said heading over to the sink with some dishes.

"Five or six years?" he asked,seeming to be quite appalled. He had been alone for longer so he knew what it was like for the most part. He lifted his hand before she'd left to touch her face, wanting to know what human skin felt like when it wasn't in sheer terror.
