I'm 14, as well. I just never learned how to ride a bicycle and this summer I decided I wanted to learn. Walking everywhere is such a drag and skateboards only go so fast...

I need to learn but I have the worst balance. Also, I'm kind of embarassed about not being able to ride one. >.<

UPDATE: I GOT IT GUYS! I CAN RIDE A BICYCLE! All I need to work on now is steering. :"P

Wait can you skateboard because then you have awesome balance. I completely fell of my friends and smashed my elbow.

Anyways riding a bike is pretty easy. I remember when I got my training wheels off when I was 6 and I just rode and fell right into the street. xD I doesn't require much balance and after the first time it easily comes back to you.

Well, on the bright side, once you do learn, you'll never forget. Or something like that.

I'm on four wheels and standing on a skateboard though. On a bicycle I'm on two and tipping over. =[

I'm 17 and don't know how to ride a bike either! Actually I can't use anything with wheels yet. I think if you can get your balance on a skateboard you've at least got the basic principle down (at least that's what my younger sister said). But I completely understand walking everywhere being a drag! I hope you learn well! Tell me how it goes when you do?

I didn't learn how to ride a bike until I was around 13 or so too, when my brother learned at age 4 ><

I'm a slow learner, I learn everything slower than other people do.

I think you'll find it easier. D:> Skateboarding is hard and biking is quite easy. It's easier because you sit and just move your legs on a skateboard you got lean and remove you foot from the board. D: That's what freaks me out.

Hehe, I'll post updates in this thread. :B I got my bike for $100 that I had saved up.

Nice! The only place I know of to get a bike for under 200 dollars is Wal-Mart, even then they're still $150!!

well, my sister knew how to ride a bike for about, oh, ten years.
two summers ago, i told her to take her bike, and she had forgotten how to use one!
now whenever someone says "it's like riding a bike!"
i just say "really? so i'll forget all about it in ten years?"

That fear is very understandable then. *nod nod* Once when I was in downtown Austin with my friend, this guy walked across the street without looking, dodging cars only to be taken out by a little asian guy on a bike once he got to the sidewalk.

Here's a tip - If you don't have training wheels (I doubt you found any for a bike not made for a four year old) don't go SUPER SLOW. It makes balancing harder.
The faster you go, the less it's a balancing act. I mean, if you suddenly lean sharply to the left, you'll still get messed up. But if you go faster, physics will pretty much hold your bike up for you. ^^

your lucky your teaching yourself! My sister tried to "teach" me by pushing me down a hill.
When i was learning how to ride a bike my sister said that she would teach me so i was about 6 and very gullible so she led me to a hill and told me to get on me bike and being the cute little oblivious kid i was, i did! so she told me " no matter what keep pedaling" then she pushed me and it worked until i went flying over the handlebars!
The only thing i learned was how to pedal.:angel:

I just never learned. I tried to but it's really difficult. At least you are trying, I just gave up. XD

i'm also 14
and i've learned to ride a bicycle at age 10 or 9, i forgot
and is very easy, trust me
once you'll learn, you'll never forget how to do it

My mum can't ride a bike and she's in her 50's (she keeps saying she's 21 again but I think she's in denial, but I think that's another matter for another thread) so don't feel so bad everyone.;)

I have some very interesting pictures of her going "backsies" with dad but I won't put them up because I know she's likely to find them and I value not getting into an argument about it.:shock:

We did bike-riding in my gym class last October.

My teacher was -supposed- to teach students who couldn't ride. He didn't, so we had 3 kids walking. One couldn't ride a bike, one didn't want to, and one had a fractured ankle and couldn't.
