At the end of the great wars, the evil gods were forced into the depths of Tartarus. They were seared behind locked gates, never to be set free. With the heavens in order, the benevolent gods saw fit to create man. To protect man from his own curiosity and bad nature, the gods created a special sect of humans with extraordinary abilities. These were the gatekeepers. They were charged with the task of guarding the Tartarean gates from any who sought to open them. Throughout the centuries, they have fulfilled their task. However, the evil gods learned how to speak to the surface world. They corrupted certain gatekeepers, and now the threat of the gates' opening became real. In an effort to stop the mutineers, the benevolent gods scattered the gatekeepers to the far reaches of the world. They hid the gates within a volcano, deep in the Timoris Mountains. Surrounding the mountains are the Forest of Perpetual Darkness and the Sands of Sorrow. The gatekeepers must get back and protect the Tartarean Gates before they are open and the evil gods rule the world once more.
------------------------------------------
Here's the deal, the gatekeepers are more or less like superheroes that protect the gate. Some have been corrupted and want to open the gate. Both groups are beyond the edges of the Sands of Sorrow and need to get through the desert, forest, and mountains to reach the gate. You can play as either a faithful or corrupt gatekeeper. Since they're the same group with different goals, your status can change. Some of the gatekeepers are together and some are alone; You can decide which you are. As for the world, it's a fantasy world that is a little less than medieval in terms of technological development.
