Oi, we have pets...like fishes and turtles, but i want a chow chow. My whole family would like a dog but my family already has 6 members and an addition would be troublesome and costly. When it is possible, I would definitely get a chow chow.

I tried convincing my dad about getting me a pet, but the whole mom thing blocked me from taking it home, so I would ask for a "summer" pet. My dad won't get me it.. ;-; I would take care of the dog/cat in the summer when I go to my dad's, but no one would be able to take care of it during the school year because he'd be busy with work.

Well, I don't live with my parents any more, just my husband, so I don't need to ask them for permission to get a pet any more.

But when I was growing up I regularly used to beg them for pets, and I usually got it eventually, but I had to prove I was responsible to look after it first.
Before I was allowed to get any pet, I had to look into it and research the care of it thoroughly; the internet wasn't really much of a resource at the time, so I used to spend hours in the library looking over care books, and phoning vets asking them for advice.
Then I would have to earn enough money to buy the pet, any cage/toys/accessories/food etc. it would need, and also enough to pay for at least two vets visits, just in case.
All that usually took months, so I guess it was also a way of proving that I was dedicated and really wanted the pet, rather than just wanting it on a whim.

It used to be very frustrating at the time, but now I can see why they did it that way.

We've always had two cats and a dog, apart from two years or so after the frist two cats died, when we just had the dog.
I've always wanted something different though, like a fish, or a gecko or something that i could feel i had more of a role in looking after. Eventually my dad, who was against all other things, agreed that i could have a giant millipede.
She died after a year, and i got the blame for that, and was never allowed anything else.
Recently i've been trying to convince him to let me have an anemone.
When I'm free to do my own thing, my house will be a zoo.

I have two dogs. well actually they are the family's pets but 1 of them often sleeps in my room :-) I keep asking for a sugar glider though. you probably haven't heard of them, but they are REALLY sweet and they are nocturnal and tiny and EXPENSIVE it's 350 dollars to get 1 but because they aren't from here you have to pay airfare which is 400 sumthing bucks so it adds up to a total of like 750 or something and no wonder my parents won't let me get one :-(

I've been begging my parents for a dog for a long time. My mom is not very much against it but my dad is. He keeps putting up arguments that I've answered. The arguments aren't even real logical... well I guess the kind of are but still. "What will we do on vacation?" will be his question. My answer will be "What other people do." That seems to be his main argument right now.

I've been trying to get a dog since I was three. (I'm currently 15) The parental keeps coming up with reasons why I can't get one. *sigh*

I've got far too many pets xD
I love my two cats, even though I'm slightly allergic =P
I'm the only one in my family allergic to animals I think
But I love animals more than anyone else in my family, lol
Funny how it turns out, but I still love my pets.
We used to bug my parents all the time for a new cat
After the first ran away, we begged until we got a second
Then that one met a tragic end and we begged and begged for another
Lol, my parents bent easily to pets, I guess.

I have a cat and I love her to death. I would love to have another cat, but I guess I'm the only one who thinks that having more than one cat using the kitty litter box would be a bad thing. I mean can't it just get cleaned a bit more often? *shrug*

Well instead of having cats and kittens, I hatch dragon eggs instead. Its not the same thing as a real pet in many ways, and yet I always find myself worrying about them when they aren't grown yet. :XD

I keep telling my fiance I want a ferret xD

"Guess what!"
"Hm?"
"I want a ferret"
"lol"

I do it at random every chance I get, the last time I did that, he said 'maybe' instead of the usual laughing, so I'm mentally dancing.

When I was in elementary school, I always begged my mom for a dog. I wanted a cute little beagle, but she always said no. Then one day a cat showed up in our driveway. We kept her and I've never wanted a dog since xD

When I was ten or so, I begged and begged my parents for a cat but they would not get me one. My mother just doesn't want to own a cat, she fears it'd be one of those afraid-of-humans always-out-of-the-house cats. And then one day the cat would be missing and we would find her dead alongside the road. Instead, they agreed to get a small dog... I protested a little at first, but the dog stole my heart the minute we took her home :) So yes, in a way I did succeed after lots of begging, even though it wasn't the animal I had begged for.

I already have a dog. But, our neighbors are giving away free kittens. I pretty much begged my mom to get it but she just can't stand cats! I wush upset.

At least I can still go play with them until they're adopted by other people. heheh

Lol, well I've been begging for one since gr 7, and I finally got it in gr 9, close to my birthday/christmas. So it's better if you ask them when it's near a holiday. And compare prices to other locations.
For my first one I got lucky, since my dad was busy and he said "yes" without paying full attention xDD And it was near my birthday/christmas :3
My second one, I proved to them that I could take care of my first one and I compared the prices from the store to other places, and I got him before school. :3
Just prove to them that you can take care of your responsibilites first, like do your chores without being asked? [if you have any]

YES, I want a dog so bad. :gonk: I've been asking and asking for years.

The problem is even though we live on a farm, it's on the main road and several of our neighbors' dogs have been hit by cars.
