I don't think i ever had an address to send mail to just the city. I talked with her mostly over Skype and the penpal emails.

We did fry them in oil. It's good to cut the sweet potato at an angle so they are as long as possible, helps keep the fingers away then use something to flip and pull them out with a decent length...

Tempura is wonderful. And the fact it can be nearly anything is amazing. We made squash tempura once and it was so good.

That does sound wonderful. Shrimp is pretty good. We made fried shrimp tempura (and other tempura) last week that was not as good as at restaurants but still quite tasty.
