Oh no, like I said, it's only happened to a handful of users. Most people don't have a problem with it at all. It's an extraction error that my computer is having, that's all. It should work just fine for you, and if it doesn't, just delete it and no harm done.
Though you need the latest version of Java for it to work, and I'd suggest downloading that before downloading the MAC.
Yes, there is an avatar maker, though it hasn't been updated since September. You have to download the program, and some people with Vista have been having trouble with it, including myself.
It used to work perfectly for me, but after wiping and restoring my laptop, I downloaded it and can't get it to work. Some people have figured out how to get it to work after this problem, but I myself haven't been able to get through it.

The MAC (Menewsha Avatar Creator) can be found in the avatar chat forum in a sticky. There is a link to the download, and they have it in both Windows and Mac versions.

By the way, the way to reply to profile messages is to click on 'view conversation' and reply there. If you don't, then the people you're replying to won't know that you replied unless they check your profile again, and most people don't because they figure you haven't replied to them. ^^;;
