So what is NaNoWriMo? National Novel Writing Month was created in order to encourage aspiring writers to finally get around to completing the novels that they have been pondering for so long. We all have that story in the back of our minds, the one that could be amazing if only we had the time or will power to commit it to paper. Now is our chance. I've always thought about about it, but never attempted. I just don't think I have the time. I have started a story, but that doesn't really count because it's already begun. I'd want to start over with something new entirely.

It's only a lot of words if you try to tackle it all at once. But less than 2,000 words each day? It's completely manageable. :yes:

Story schmory! I know a lot of people who walk into NaNo without any idea what their going to write. They just sit down and start typing gibbrish. :lol:
I like to plan and know exactly what I'm doing when with who, but a little spontaneity never hurt anyone. |
Does it have to be exactly 50,000 words? Or can it be some over/under?

It's meant to be at least 50,000 words. As long as you reach 50k, you've "won" NaNo and have written a decent sized novel. Whether you flesh it out from there is your own choice. :yes:

Oh, neato. I think the most I've ever written was a hand-written 100-page story on a composition notebook. Back to back pages, so really, 50 pages. I burned it not too long ago, because I didn't think it was very good :gonk: I wish I hadn't, to be honest, because I wrote it in sixth grade or so.

Thanks, it'll be nice to have more support. I'm doing it with a friend from school, she convinced me that I should do it - been trying to do it for a few years now never really got myself to do it before this year. Definitely am nervous, but I can do it this! :)
I need to start writing things down, ideas and names and such. But I've got a few ideas. I'm hoping to get some planning done this weekend - when I should be studying for midterms. :lol: Because I'm just bad like that. :P I need to get myself to start doing some major research in the baby name app that I have on my iPod for character names. :) We'll see where it goes. ^_^ What about yourself? |

Ok, Skrae here, a.k.a. AngeDouce on Nano. Goal is over 10k, but hoping for 50k. I reaaaaaaaaaally want to finish this year. I'm writing a fantasy fiction, but am undecided whether it gets more sci-fi or romancey. I'm going to try for non-romance though. BAD MUSE. I don't think that the NaNo forum has instituted buddies yet on their website this year. I know that they've been having a lot of development troubles, so there aren't a whole lot of options up there. But when the buddy list finally comes, I'll definitely be adding everyone. :yes:

My form of encouragement usually involves threats of bodily harm. >_>;; It works... Oh, and I found Yarny today, and so was able to get a good hour and a half's work in on story prep! Sadly though, I had forgotten to update a file on my flash drive, so I didn't get as far as I could have. But, successful day! :D |

I usually take the nicer way to get around with encouragement, but sometimes you need to threaten or worse at times. Haha! :rofl: |
Oh goodness I completely forgot about Na No Wri Mo! The timing is perfect for me as I've been trying to plan out a novel I want to write. What better time to get my butt in gear.
