Gerard Sanders
Male
27
First Mate
Personality: Gruff, angry, and often drunk. Few things made Gerard happy, mostly sailing, a stiff drink, and perhaps a pretty woman. Few people have ever seen him smile unless a grin while in a drunken stupor counts. Mostly speaks in grunts and mumbled, and doesn't much enjoy conversation with anyone. Despite this, takes orders and is will to get the job done, no matter what it takes.
Bio: His grandfather was a pirate, his father had been a pirate, it was only natural that he was as well. At first he wasn't happy about a young pirate captain, but they ate well enough, pillaged a bit, and the ship was still floating, so there was little to complain about. That didn't mean he fully trusted the young captain, but he did what was expected of him to earn his pay. Of course if a better opportunity came along, he'd be more than willing to take it. No one really knows about this life, since he's spoken little of it. His mother was a whore, his grandmother as well. His family seemed to be a long line of bastards born to whores, sons raised on pirate ships, taught to sail at a young age. He had no port, no place to call home, and that was fine with him, he had no plans to settle. Just like his ancestors, he planned to sail until the day he died.

Rose Angelina Edwards
Female
18
Princess
Personality: Bubbly, trusting, and far too caring. She has often been considered the ideal lady, perfect in just about every sense, sweet and soft-spoken. Despite all this, she has wanted more, at least so far as to wish she could be like her brothers, traveling the world, seeing everything there is to offer. She does have a quick wit at times, though she rarely shows it, as it is unbecoming of a princess. She often enjoys reading, as well as drawing, pursuits that are mostly suitable for her, according to her mother. She is naive, having been kept at the castle most of her life, she trusts easily and always seems to see good in everyone she encounters.
Bio: As the only daughter of the king, and their youngest child, she had been spoiled most her life, by her father, her five brothers, and all of the country. She has rarely stepped foot outside of the castle, has no friends other than those deemed acceptable by the king himself. Her brothers have always been protective of her, guarding her from any evil, keeping her safe from the bad in the world. She has always understood her place in the world, as the princess, and knew she would one day marry to strengthen her fathers alliances.

--------------------

Rose could not contain her excitement as the ship pulled away from the harbor. She hated to leave her family behind, but they would follow soon, in time for the wedding, she hoped. Even the prospect of marrying a strange did not douse her excitement, why should it? She had always know this was her fate, she found herself fortunate that he was a prince, and only ten years her senior. She had never been on a ship before, nothing more than a small boat on a lake for a quick turn, which made this all the more exciting for her. Her gloved hands gripped the rails as she took a deep breathing, enjoying the cool, salty air. Of course as the princess, and a lady, she wasn't allowed on deck for long, forced below to a spacious cabin, appointed with all sorts of pretty baubles and fancy trims that seemed out of place. Four guards were situated in the hall just outside, proving how safe she would be on her journey.

Her excitement didn't wear off, despite the long, sort of tedious days on the ship. For short periods she was allowed to stroll the deck, then banished back to her quarters where she read, did needlepoint, and napped. Apparently the salt air could make one quite tired. She had only just woken up from a nap before she asked to be allowed on deck, needing the fresh air. A light fog seemed to swirl around the ship, something Rose thought was quite magnificent, as if they were sailing on the clouds. "Princess!" The call of the guard forced her to turn her head and search him out in the fog. He approached, bowing respectfully, "You will catch a chill in this weather, allow us to escort you back to your chambers." As always, she pasted a soft smile on her face and nodded. "Of course, but please, just one more moment..." She wandered towards the railing, situating herself as near her ladies maid as she could get, without completely knocking the woman down with her vast array of hoops and petticoats. "It seems this weather is dangerous to our health, return with me to my quarters?" Her question was directed at Ariel, her voice soft as she asked. If she was forced to be below deck, she wanted to amuse herself somehow, and with few women on board, she seemed to be the only choice.

---

"Should'a stayed docked one more night..." Gerard grumbled as he leaned against the railing of the ship, spyglass in hand. It was practically useless in the fog, which seemed to have rolled in rather quickly. The last thing they needed was to run aground, or into another ship. Not that he would complain about a little action, they had seen so little lately and he itched to run his sword through something. He tucked the spyglass away, the metal clicking as it bumped the sword at his waist. His thoughts returned to bottle of rum in his hand, it seemed far too light for how perfectly normal he felt. The bastards must have watered it down. Perhaps they had done the English some good by stealing the shipment, it was cheap rum, not even fit for a pirate. Not that it stopped him from taking another swig.

After a long moment he searched out the captain, finding him near the wheel. "What's th' plan?" It was a mistake to keep sailing in the fog like this, not when they didn't know what, or who, would be nearby.
