Twilight was getting old so my new series are The Vampire Academy and Vampire Diaries
Has anyone read those? (Vampire Diaries is going to be a movie)
If so, what did you think of them?

We already have two of those topics within this forum:
Vampire Academy
Vampire Diaries
If you would like to discuss those books, please visit those threads.
So from here on out, this thread should contain a discussion of the Marked series.

The Marked Series? Isn't that a completely different series compared to the ones mentioned here? I'm talking about the one by P.C. Cast and Kristen Cast.
I'm honestly tired of the Twilight Saga as well although I look forward to how it will look in the movies realm regardless of whether it turns bad or good though I hope for it to be good.

The Marked series was one of the worst books I ever read, maybe the worst. I don't know what I hated more, the cliche plot, the terrible characters, the Mary-sue protagonist, the shame-less smut that only an eight-grader or forty-three year old would like or the way they spell vampires.

I love the Marked series, the only things that get me are the multiple spelling and grammer errors and that the main characters can be total airheads when approaching situations. Like, Zoey always has at least three guys after her at once. That is just so frustrating at times.

I love Marked. But it's getting to much guy drama.

I agree. Too much guy drama can ruin a good novel but at the same time it can also help to make the plot deeper. As in, when Eric went full-fledged vampyre and then walked into Loren Blake and Zoey, that could have been left out, but then the animosity and possessiveness that Eric has would also have had to have been cut out. If they had left that out, then maybe the Eric/Zoey/Stark triangle wouldn't be necessary nor would the petty jealousy of Eric over Zoey being friends with her human ex/mate/ whatever its called. I haven't read the books since almost march so, my memory is a little foggy about names.
Also, the Cast's character development of Zoey could be considered Mary-Sue like, but at the same time, she is not some all-powerful character. Just a special Fledgling. She makes mistakes, so if you think about it, she truly isn't that Mary-Sue-like at all. Most Mary-Sue characters are so close to perfect that they make virtually no mistakes. Zoey will be the first to admit she makes mistakes and try to make things right again. She has trouble accepting her new life at first, but when she finally gets used to being the 'special one' she adjusts very well and starts to try to remedy her uniqueness by tryng to be 'that girl' that nobody notices or the girl that can blend into the shadows.
The Cast's representation of Zoey's human mistakes just makes it clear that they also want others to agree that she is not a perfect character... Any one who thinks that Zoey is too Mary-Sue should try to reread the books because if they can get past Marked and how special Zoey is, they might just see how human she really is. And also just what makes her so special- her friends and Grandma Redbird.

Yeah i loved The Marked series but i kinda skipped the third book by accident and never went back to read it since i already found out what the book was about in the later books. I think the newer books are better in a sense that they have more action and plot than the first few :3
But theres just been too many vampire books for my liking nowadays because of twilight and it kinda puts people off reading vampire books now because its mostly the same senerios and theres nothing exciting to them anymore. I still enjoy them and all but they just kinda lost their touch.
And is the Vampire Diaries the books by L.J. Smith? If so they are good and better than most of the vampire books i have read and would definitly reccomend them to anyone =D
