Waving, Kanto flushed with a smile. "Hello! Nice to meet you~! Ah, I swear I'm not always late..." Pulling open the banana pudding ice cream, he started to spoon out a bowl for himself. "I have a dark chocolate and pretzel flavor too that might go with black tea. Or maybe mint?"

Afanassii returned a moment later with a tray containing fine china and an assortment of teas. He overheard his fair-haired coworker and cocked an eyebrow, curiously. "You alvays find the most interresting flavorrs, Kanto."

((Aside from an ornery and mouthy pre-teen, my night is going OK.))

"Yes, because I look for them. People like that right? Ah, but I always forget which flavors I like most..." Kanto smiled, enjoying the banter if not the smell of the tea. "Do you want me to help pour the earl of black tea...is that right?"

Afanassii chuckled and nodded his head. "Yes, you did a good job. I'm not surre which is my favorrite flavorr either, I tend to enjoy many..." The redhead took a quick look at the three guests and the twinkle in his eye might have lead one to believe his words took on a different meaning, though it was unclear.

He shook his head at the later question. "I'll handle the tea. How about you see to the skooping of the ice crream if ourr guests vould like some?"

Oblivious to any strange intentions from Afanassii, Kanto smiled. "Are you sure about the tea? I'm trying real hard to get good at it. But I really like all the flavors too so I think that's normal. Hummy-hum, would you like a scoop of all the flavors so we'll know which is best?"

Nassii smiled at Kanto's mannerisms while he saw to the requests of the guests. "Ah, I see. Would you mind pouring my tea, then?"

((Well, that mini event may didn't go too well for our little hang out, did it? Perhaps next time...))

"I can definitely pour your tea," Kanto said with a nod. He really had been practicing after all, so he took the teapot and carefully tipped some liquid inside, sticking out his pinky like in a cartoon. "I look real cool when I do that right?"

"Zank you." He watched the younger boy work for a moment and a small smile came across his fair features. "You rreally have gotten quite good at zat skill. I should have you pourr my tea morre often." He took the proffered glass and tipped the unsweetened substance to his lips before fighting hard not to do a spit take at Kanto's words. "Da, tovarishch - err... friend. But zen you alvays look 'kool'." He gave Kanto a wink and then smoothed down his own clothing, making sure he didn't make a mess. It was obvious to anyone who spent a good amount of time with him that Nassii was taken a bit off guard, particularly as he began to speak more in his native language for the smallest moment.

"Ah really, I'm glad then," Kanto smiled and set down the teapot more naturally, having already proved that he could be suave if he tried. Whirling away, he stuffed both hands in his pockets, posing with a grin. "I don't know why more people don't think I'm cool. Just because I can't figure out algebra? Cute girls should like me way more! Ah...did you get something in your eye, Nassii? You keep only blinking one of them." He made a face, pointing out the eye that Afannassi just winked.

Harper walked through the main door of the Host Club, nose buried in a Chemistry textbook. He walked straight to the coat room and set his messenger bag (full of more books and notebooks) down in the corner. He didn't stop reading the entire time. He then walked over to the couch closest to the other hosts and took a seat. He continued reading for a few minutes, then set the book down in his lap, looking satisfied as though he finished a chapter. ”Oh, Kanto, you got ice cream? …Let me guess, there aren’t any made with soy.” He gave a teasing grin, knowing how much Kanto hates tofu. ”Although, I will have some tea.” he started to scan the room to see if he could find a teapot, but his eyes stopped on Tom and he suddenly turned pink, looking down at the textbook in his lap. ”I-I’ll have w-whatever everyone else is having…” he said, clearly a little flustered. Plenty of cute people came through the Host Club every day, and each one of them threw Harper off-guard. He had never exactly been the suave sort, so working at the Host Club was a challenge for him. So he preferred to sit back and let any interested guests approach him. After all, he told himself, it was his job to make sure the guests were happy, not to go after the people he found cute.

Afanassii relaxed some as Kanto fell into his usual antics. The boy's demeanor was refreshingly innocent at times. And then he spoke and Nassii nearly rolled his eyes again. He cleared his throat and made sure the guests had their tea exactly as they liked it. "Ah, no, Kanto... I'm fine." He gave him a bit of a smile to reassure him and then moved his eyes to catch Harper's entrance.

The tall redhead may have seemed like one of the more reckless hosts around, but he made a point to learn as much as he could. At that point he had more or less memorized the way Harper preferred his tea and he moved to get him a cup, his steel blue gaze catching the blush and all the connotations that went with it. He glanced at Tom and smirked, raising his eyebrows in amusement. "Herre you arre, Misterr Grray...." He said innocently enough, though his thoughts were anything but. He gave the lilac-haired boy a look that said he knew exactly how he felt as he handed the china cup over. He said nothing, though, and chose to sit where he could see them both and enjoy every interaction between them. He certainly couldn't blame Harper for his reaction, it seemed the boy had great taste. Nassii himself wouldn't mind being on either end of that twosome. A rather far away look came in his eyes for just a moment as he allowed himself to think of the three of them in ways he had absolutely no right to.

"I prefer green tea, myself." A voice entered into the conversation casually, as if it had always been a part of it. Although no one took notice of his arrival, Benimaru had suddenly appeared almost as if he had materialized from Afanassii's shadow. The dark-haired gentleman stood uncomfortably close to our Russian host and held a cup of the aforementioned beverage with a calm look upon his face. He took in the scene without reaction, his emerald gaze leaving an almost tangible feeling upon everyone he looked at.

((omg but i love how naughty Nassii is! i'm sure his and Harper's interactions are going to be so much fun. xD))


Harper pursed his lips at the look Afanassii gave him, but accepted the cup and took a sip. It was perfect, just like every other time Afanassii made his tea. He sighed contentedly, breathing in the smell. "Thank you, Afanassii. You make an amazing cup of tea, what is your secret?"

As soon as the words escaped his lips, he jumped with a little yelp at Benimaru's arrival, splashing some tea onto his pants. His surprise quickly shifted to irritation as he set his cup down, reached for a napkin and began dabbing at the spill. "Hello Benimaru." he said tersely, avoiding looking Benimaru directly in the eye.

He was annoyed to have been surprised, but more than that he was embarrassed to look like a slob in front of the guests and the other hosts. He also felt unnerved by Benimaru's presence; a combination of feeling the urge to be on his best behavior and not liking being watched. On the one hand, he felt that they were equals because they were both hosts, but on the other hand, there was something about Benimaru that radiated authority, which made Harper nervous. Harper had a thing for being liked by authority figures, but he had a sneaking suspicion that Benimaru wasn't the type who was easily impressed.

"Soy? Ah oh..." Kanto tilted his head, eyes vacant for a second. "That's right. I forgot that Harper doesn't eat the milky things." It really was hard for him to remember, though he did try hard to please everyone, hosts and guests alike. He just got so excited about flavors though and bought whatever he wanted in the end. "Next time I'll-eeaaah?!" He jumped as Benimaru appeared as if from out of nothing. "When did you get here?!"

Huffing slightly, Kanto waved a spoon in Benimaru's direction. "You're so mean you know. Ah but, since you're here. Would you like mint of banana ice cream? Or the um..." He had to look back at the ice cream flavors he had. "...the pretzel chocolate one."

A shiver ran up Afanassii's spine at Benimaru's sudden words and he broke out in a bit of a cold sweat. He was frozen in place with a tea cup halfway raised to his mouth. His people tended to be very aware of their surroundings so he was always put off by the way that Benimaru could completely surpass his senses. "Eh...r-right." Nassii sad quietly in response. He put his teacup back upon the table somewhat shakily. He would have offered to help Harper by at least giving him a towel but he was too afraid to move much at that moment. Benimaru had a habit of showing up at the most inopportune moments and Afanassii was suspicious that this was an attempt to remind him to behave himself.

Benimaru did not react as the others each startled at his appearance. He simply stood, quietly taking sips of his tea for a short while. It was only when Kanto asked if he would like some ice cream that he finally spoke again. "No. But thank you."

With that he turned and regarded Harper, giving the younger gentleman a closed-eyed, genteel partial bow in greeting before he made his way slowly to his usual seating area. It was an angled couch in a corner of the room that gave him a good view of most of the main clubhouse level. Some of the snarkier hosts referred to the spot as his "throne" which was fairly fitting due to the way that he sat in the crook of it regally.

*dusts off all the tables and chairs, then sits down, frowning slightly* Is anyone still around here? This poor thread got abandoned...

Harper, who was sitting in a far corner of the room, jolted from the book he was nose-deep in and looked over at Kanto.
"Sorry," Harper said. "I've just been spending my time studying for finals, and I was so caught up that I forgot to be a proper host." He carefully bookmarked his textbook at set it to the side. "Have any guests been through? Or did I just completely forget the world around me, like usual?" He huffed a little sigh, frustrated with himself for not being more observant, or better at his job.

Tom saunters in, smiling and carrying scones and pastries.
"Where did all of my friends go?" Tom frowns, thinking about his friends who'd disappeared.

"I think the guests are a little lacking as well." Kanto offered a sheepish grin. "I thought no one wanted to play anymore for sure, but at least Harper is here! Ah-" He jumped as Tom entered. "I'm here and I'm still your friend right?!"
