THE CAKE IS A LIE.
For anyone with a 360 or PS3 or any other system that plays it, get the orange box. If not for the half life games, do it for Portal.
It is incredibly fun, and you have no idea how good it is until you play it.
For those who dont know what it is,
Portal is a First Person Shooter Puzzle Game.
you're a test subject at Appeture Science, and you're given a neat little gun that can make two linked portals. You use those two portals to solve puzzles and challenges. And at the end,
You are promised cake.
and greif counseling.
but mostly cake.
But you know what?
THE CAKE IS A LIE.
discuss.

Hmmm...this sounds...interesting, I do have a PS3 so perhaps I'll check it out...I don't know. My library has a REALLY big video game section, maybe they already have it there.

PoRTaL was a fantastically creative and original game. I enjoyed every moment of it and have a lot of fun just replaying it. The dialogue was just... oh it was great! I do miss the Companion Cube, he was so cute and friendly.

Portal is awesome. It's pretty entertaining. I don't own the game but I did finish it. :)

Awww... I'm really sad now! I had PoRTaL on my old computer but she got too old and now I have a new one named Behemoth. But... the game won't play! My video card is outdated (even though the computer's relatively new... >.>) and it's a laptop so there may be no way to get the game to work! TT__TT

I've beat Portal a few times, but I don't understand why people are obsessing over it.
Yah, GLaDOS is pretty fun to listen to, but I don't see Portal as one of the best games of all gaming history.
It's good, don't get me wrong, but I just can't see how people were going completely nuts over it.
Heh, I read in an article that most people who quote Portal have either never played the game, or only played very little of it.
I thought that was interesting.......

I was thinking about getting Portal. Is getting the Orange Box worth it? I haven't really heard much about the other two games in the package. Are they fun too?

Heruuna, I've played PoRTaL the whole way through and I still quote it. I think it's because it's the first ever first person puzzle game and GLaDoS is completely quote-able, probably it was the novelty of it. I just find it a game I can actually get to the end of so it's automatically awesome in my book.
Twthereal, I haven't played the other games, but I've heard they're FPS games so if you're not good at those you might want to think about it a little more.

Are you guys stalking me?
I say this as I was just introduced to this game about a week ago, and now the song Glados sings at the end of the game is the only song my husband will sing -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48848ae8Am0
We've got the song downloaded on Rockband but it's extremely hard to sing cause I find myself constantly giggling over the silly lyrics!
I think we're buying my brother a stuffed companion cube for Xmas this year...he wants one so bad.

yeah for second one!!!!
My brother got me the plushie dice and we want to make life sized ottomans of the companion cubes! My husband got a aperture science coffee mug.
I made the cube in 3D when I was just learning it....
Yeah Rockband is fun with that song...I can get a perfect singing it on the hardest difficultly
I need to redo and make it better.

This was a triumph. ;u; I'm making a note here, HUGE SUCCESS.
I love Portal. I made my sister get it and she was immediately hooked. It's super short though. :O

Portal is the reason I bought an Xbox 360, considering that my computer is ill-fit to run any games. I still have yet to beat all the advanced levels or get all the achievements for the time trials, least steps, etc.
If they ever make a sequel, it better be a good one.

I'm playing it now. The idea of actual portals is so fascinating. It's really fun to try to figure out what I have to do to get passed the different parts.
I haven't beat it yet, but I already know what happens at the end.

Finished it last night. Two words. FFFFING. PHENOMENAL. It took me forever because I couldn't think properly and kept repeating stupid ideas until I'd think "WAIT! What if I do THIS?" or my brother would walk downstairs and call me retarded.
I wish there were such thing as a portal gun. D;

Same here ^,^ ; allthough I'm glad I have the 360 now, play more on it than my ps3.
Erm.. lost train of thought, crap... oh yea
In all valve games (until left 4 dead, that i know of..) do not have strictly artistic cinematic scenes. That is, anything you see in a cut scene is an actual part of the environment and there is a way somewhere or another to reach it in game play. There is a fantastic (though i've yet to play it for myself, I haven't heard anything bad about it) indie prequel. And I particularly loved seeing Emily Dickenson quoted in one of the rat man's dens.
