Sitting in a local coffee joint on a dim Friday morning, a young woman was in tears, face hidden in her hands. "Emilee," the girl across from her said in a concerned, kind voice. The young lady across from 'Emilee' reached over, and with a kind gesture, she patted the young woman's back, giggling a little as she did so. "What's wrong, Emilee?!"
Emilee looked up from her wet hands and wiped at her face. Her voice got low, so that other people around wouldn't hear the soon-to-take-place conversation.
"I saw something so horrible, Danielle..." The blond female across from her nodded, folding her hands in her lap and watching, clearly waiting intently.

Emilee wiped her eyes more, and then exhaled shakily, clearing her voice. "Last night I was walking, ya know, since my car's in the shop.. I saw these men.. They were talking in the alleyway, and then I heard a yell when I passed. I stopped by a wall and I watched... I watched that man get stabbed, Dani! And then.. the man who was hurt was crying, he wasn't dead when the other man.. lit a match.." Danielle gasped and then smiled a little crookedly. "Have you told the police yet?" She asked Emilee. Emilee shook her head. "I'm going to this weekend.."

After saying goodbye, the two went their separate ways, Emilee moved to the left of the coffee house, Dani to the other direction.

David's hand was shaking so badly it threatened to spill his coffee. He carefully set it down and shut his eyes before swiftly getting to his feet. This was horrible and lucky at the same time. He had thought there had been no witnesses, though apparently he was mistaken. Of all the luck, he couldn't believe it! He had been following this cute chick who looked upset, when she stepped into a coffee shop he deliberately took the seat behind her, then once he heard what was wrong he could turn around, act friendly, comfort her, maybe buy her a drink, and who knows, maybe get her number. But no, he somehow managed to find a witness he didn't even think existed. He pulled on his jacket as he followed her into the street, spotting her he followed her at a safe distance. A shame, she really was cute.

It hadn't taken long for Emilee to dry it up. Since her tears weren't exactly genuine, it was easy to say that she was able to recover fairly easily. Of course, this process took a lot of eye wiping and sniffing, but all save for the awkward glaces she got, she was good to go as she rounded the block. Not that that fact stopped other people.
"Hey, Hon," a random man said, his arm looping over her shoulders and fastening there. "I saw you crying, and I was just wondering if you were alright."

Sure he was. Emilee narrowed her eyes and then nodded. The blond man seemed to get the general message, and soon enough he'd made a confused face and backed off all together. It really was lucky that he'd just up an ran away.

David meanwhile was considering his opitons. It all depended on how much she knew. If she could give a description to the police, she would have to be dealt with. But if she didn't know what they looked like, a more likely scenario since she didn't recognise him, then it would be a bad idea to have another body lying around, especially since she had already confided in her friend. No it was best if he could avoid disposing of her, but something would still have to be done. He closed the gap between them slightly as she sent some other boy scurrying for the hills. Something would have to be done, but what?

Emilee was in no hurry to leave, now. Now that the tears were dissipating, she was able to put a decent, cheery look upon her lips. Some of the people who were further away were a bit surprised as they watched the once crying, sad looking girl walk towards with a smile. One woman even cocked her head to the side, but no bother!

The only thing bother Emilee, was the fact that she felt followed. She was always good with stuff like that. With another wipe at her eyes, she turned slightly to see several people all walking in her general direction, not a care in the world. Maybe she was just loosing her touch, she thought, and then moved on. First stop was home, her apartment, then she would go get some groceries. Besides, money was going to be no option soon enough.

David pondered it as he followed her, before eventually deciding that a simple threat was the best thing to do, and find out how much she knew in the process. He'd follow her home, then go and get a disguise and get her to talk. Yes, that would do.
Satisfied on his plan he closed the gap between himself and the girl a little more, she wouldn't escape now.

She still felt followed, but she felt like maybe she was just paranoid. Maybe she was, maybe not. Either way it didn't matter, as she was unlocking her door to her downtown apartment. She stepped in, slamming it, locking it, and then finally sighing and smiling. "See?" She asked herself. "I'm alright. No one was following me..." Little did she know, of course.
She trailed over toward her kitchen, her answering machine beeping and blinking for her attention.

Noting the number of the apartment he gave a little mental nod and continued walking right past the building. There was a little store down here that sold everything he would need. He was thinking classic black ski mask and trenchcoat. Maybe a crowbar to get in? no... that looked like a fairly weak lock, he was pretty sure he could just break it with his shoulder. He grinned to himself as he reached the store. Not the date he had been envisioning exactly, buy hey, with a job like his, what could you do?

Emilee always felt more safe in her home, though one could admit that the locks definitely weren't the strongest in the world. Reason number one that she'd made sure to add an extra. Emilee wasn't one to take things lightly when it came to protecting herself, with her extreme methods and thoughts on the idea. She was never going to be unprepared, she had decided once, after she was robbed.

With a sigh, she opened her refrigerator and breathed in the cool clean air, her muscles relaxing as she stood there lazily.

David bought everything he thought he would need then decided to play stalker until evening, breaking in in full daylight was just asking for trouble. So instead he put on the new trenchcoat, pocketed the skimask and lit a cigarette in a nearby alleyway. As he took a long drag he watched the girl's door closely.

Though she was always safe in her home, the case was simply not so on the outside. She opened her door, stepping out, then locking it, and began walking, not a care in the world. She was on her way to the corner mart not too far down. It wasn't a big deal. She just wanted some milk, and exercise was always good.

She passed right over David's alley, humming to herself, watching the sidewalk under her sandal-clad feet.

David hunkered down in the alley as he watched her pass. Soon enough, soon enough...

*Magical Time Skip of Wonder!*

David flicked his last cigarette but into the alley to lay with the others. Exhaling the smoke he flipped up his collar and stuck his hands into his pockets as he strolled out of the alley. The girl had returned to her home soon after she had left with several bags, a normal shopping trip, nothing to worry about. As he approached the door he pulled out his mask and slipped it on. Pausing in front of the door he tried the handle. No luck. Casting a quick look around he ensured that there was no one nearby. His hours of watching had not gone wasted, this area was rather sparse populace-wise. With a slight shrug he took a step back before ramming his shoulder into the door just above the lock.

The first lock to the door buckled, the door making a loud groaning sound, forcing Emilee into awakening. She had been lazily sleeping on her couch, the TV up full volume so that she could hear it without the neighbors voices being donated.

She jumped to her feet, or knees considering she'd tumbled to the floor, and then waited. Surely this was all a misunderstanding. No one was going to break in. Especially not to her home.. not now!
Being wistful, she grabbed her phone from her pocket, just in case. "Hello?" She called. Now that was definitely not the smartest move to make, but it was too late by now!

David smothered a groan. The girl must have stronger locks then he thought, though he was almost sure he had felt one of them give way. Rubbing at his shoulder he backed up a step. From inside the house he heard a call of "Hello?" Grinning under his mask he slammed his foot into the same spot he had hit his shoulder. Being part of a gang meant you got to learn all the really handy skills, breaking and entering, kneecapping, killing... You know, the fun stuff.

The second of the locks gave way, and part of the door shattered. With a gasp, Emilee moved into action. Since most of the home was dark, she would use that to her advantage, and she did. The lights stayed off as she moved to her bedroom, quietly closing the door, and locking it. There was no doubt that the puny lock would die off easily, however, it gave Emilee time to hide.

Next, she moved to her bathroom, closing and locking that door as well. She moved to her bath, and into the tub, beginning to open the window. It was, unfortunately, painted shut, making it difficult to get it to budge.
