just as a note here we started this rp on a different site and wanted to continue it here.

Quote:
Her name was Eva Rowena Eskarne, and this is the story of how a lonely girl learned the truth about herself.

I am simply Akane, her gardian. Don't be fooled. I'm not human, nor angel. Eva began a very faithful child. But as she aged and learned about ridicule, hatred, and lonelyness, it faded. In her early teens she had a brief encounter with me and I sparked a curiosity in anything to do with my kind. She plunged into a world no mortal eyes shpuld ever view. Now in her twentith year, her life is about to change dramatically.

See her there? At the back of the library? No, of course you don't on first glance, but as you start to look at her, there's definately something different. Something rippling under the surface. She's quite unaware of her own strength and if I ave any say in it she'll never know.

"Spell Casting and Summoning"
"Magical Seals of Angels and Demons"
"Demonology 101"

These are the books stacked at Eva's table. Currently she's looking through one entitled "Dragonic Spirits and Other Inhumans in Human Form." She's alone at the very back of the building. I'm waiting for her to open that book. The one on seals. Then I'll begin..."

Eva sighed as began to lean the chair back. With book in hand she allowed the chair to teeter on its hind legs as she flipped through the book. Early on in her life she would never have imagined herself reading this kind of book, but things changed. Events transpired to make her who she was today, but sh epaid no mind to her tumultuous past. All her focus was on the book in front of her, nothing else mattered.

She began to near the end of the book, only a few things having really caught her interest. With another sigh she closed the book and tossed it on the table with a loud thud, gain her a few angry stares. Her deep green eyes, however, were staring at the stack of books. One in particular tickled her fancy as she rested the chair back on all fours, "Magical Seals of Angels and Demons," She muttered to herself before slowly opening the book.

Akane smiled as he walked up beside her, still yet unseen. "Twenty three..." He whispered softly, his breath lifting the hair away from her ear. This was the page with his personal seal. He was a very powerful demon, one that was very good at manipulation.

Eva peered down at the book her fingers mindlessly flipping through the pages till she was on page 23. She didn't know why she settled on this page, but something in her told her their was something special about the seal displayed on it. Looking at it carefully she slowly traced it with her index finger.

He smiled victoriously. "That one." He whispered. "Take this book home."

Marking the page Eva closed the book and held it close, putting the other books back one by one. Afterwards she found herself hastily approaching the front desk. The librarian shot her a dirty look as she read the title of the book, but Eva showed no signs of even remotely caring what the woman's reaction was and took the book when it was handed to her, leaving the library without so much as a word to anyone.

He folowed her closely, himself recieving a glair from a very handsom white robed figure beside her. The look on his face was that of distane and sadness. "Forget about her, she's mine now." He spoke with an evil smirk but the fair haired man simply shook his head and continued to walk beside her. 'Hmm...' he thought. 'i'll have to find a way to get rid of you...'

She continued to walk, her dark green eyes stead fast on the sidewalk ahead of her till she reached her apartment building. Quickly opening the front door she climbed the five flights of stairs to reach her home. Slightly window she opened the door to reveal a small one bedroom apartment. Heading inside she closed the door behind her and tossed her keys on the coffee table. Eva let herself fall onto the couch and once again open the book to page 23.

Akane flopped down on one side of her while the human looking being stood beside her, glaring at him. "You're no fun..." He grinned as he pulled a piece of soapstone from his pocket. "Draw it." He droned out. Thebeing beside her finally spoke as he watched the stone float before her. "It won't work." He growled.

Akane chuckled softly at this. "Yes it will."

"She doesn't aknowledge the power so she can't use it."

"Is that a bet?"

"it's a fact." He hissed.

"Hmm...there must be a reason you haven't tried to dispatch me yet..."

He frowned. "Free will isn't always such a good thing...she must ask me first."

He grinning at this. "And to ask, she must know."

"But she doesn't, which is why it won't work."

Akane raised an eye brow at this. "Circular logic...i'm impressed..."

Eva was reading the small paragraph written about Akane when she looked up. She noticed the stone floating before her but couldn't believe what she was seeing. Her eyes darted from side to side before she rubbed them. Opening them once more she noticed the stone was gone, "...I'm just seeing things," She muttered to herself and got up, leaving the book open on the couch.

Akane growled at the ever sad looking being. "You're lucky there are still rules in place!"

"You know..." The being quipped. "My seal is in that book too."

"hmm..." He tilted his head. "Who would get into more trouble? you, or her?"

He frowned. "At the moment she's in quite a bit more."

He leaned back, crossing his arms. "You're going to be a pain in my ass until i get rid of you..." He muttered.

"You yourself can't get rid of me."

"Just as you yourself can't get rid of me."

"Well than, we'll just have to see who's side she chooses."

"Fair enough. now, you stay n that side of the room..." He closed his eyes and in a snap he was on the other side of the room. "And I'll stay on mine."

For the time being he wanted to study her, figure out how to make her at least subconsciously regognize her powers...

She walked back from her small kitchen with a glass of water. She was hungry, but there was no food in the fridge. Sitting down she picked up the book again and left page 23 marked. It had been the only seal she had seen so far, but she was curious as to what else was in the book. But after a while the silence of the apartment was beginning to creep her out a little so she began to hum. It wasn't a song in a particular, just some sounds she would string together to keep her from thing about the floatung rock she had seen.

Akane got rather bored sitting there by himself. Her gardian had wandered off it appeared so he couldn't even annoy the man. he flpped onto the couch next to her. "Hi." He said in a rather happy tone. "Somewhere in your mind you can hear me." But he knew physically his voice couldn't reach the range needed for her to hear it. "You have a ghost living with you..."

Eva stopped flipping through the pages and looked around, "Huh?" But what she had heard wasn't Akane. The jingling of a neighbor's keys had penetrated her thoughts. However, the troubled girl couldn't help but turn back to page 23. There was someth peculiar with it. Something that pulled her in.

He leaned over her shoulder and began to read the discription.

'The demon of desception, Akane is the sixth highest ranking demon in the nine tiers of the high demon hierarchy.'

He snickered at this. foolish humans. thought they knew quite a bit about these things.

'Was last summoned by Alister Crowley and is said to currently wander the earth waiting for this seal to be drawn.'

He couldn't help but to roll his eyes. His powers were used quite a bit by mortals wishing to conseal their lies, but he was rarely actually summoned. " Not a chance...who writes these things? That lunatick didn't know the difference between gods and demons, i wouldn't have shown up even if he'd attempted..."

'His summoning stone of choice is soapstone.'

He shrugged. "That's easy enough...ninety percent of summoning is done with soapstone simply because it writes like chalk...give me a break...dramatists these people."

'When summoned this demon will perform an array of tasks, and can grant you conciderable wealth.'

"They make it sound like i can make gold out of thin air...it's called making your toy steal for you. i love how they never mention there's a price for this..."

'When summoning this demon, extreeme caution is advised.'

He outright laughed at this.

"Extreeme caution? of course you're supposed to use extreeme caution, not that anyone does of course..."

"Extreme caution is advised," Eva muttered to herself, "Wow... Sounds like a pretty badass guy..." She said with a chuckle before finishing off the rest of her water. To her the description came off as half true, the other half in her mind came off as a complete exaggeration. She had quite and interest in the paranormal as well as otherworldly things, but still considered herself a sceptic. There was a chance they might be real, but in her mind she could always somehow disprove them. Looking at the seal she found herself smiling, "Curosity killed the cat... But satisfaction brought it back," Looking at the seal once again she was sure to take in the details, "Now...Where to find some soapstone,"

Akane nearly fell over in laughter. He didn't have to push her she was going to do it on her own! This was wonderful. This very strange human was starting to grow on him. She was beautiful, if a bit sad, and he could feel her energy. Her body was human, her soul was not.

She laughed to herself and set the book down, "Who am I kidding..." She sighed softly and wandered off to the kitchen. Her stomach was screaming for some food but there wasn't any, "I really need that second job... At this rate I'll starve to death and lose this crappy apartment," She was talking as if there was someone else there with her, but it was what she usually did to chase away her lonliness and boredom.

He frowned and went outside for a moment. Down the hall someone had ordered for pizza and he grinned. Walking up to the man carrying the pizza he decided a bit of fun was in order. He built up his energy and growled so that the man could hear. "Wrong door." The man was very scared as he looked around. "W-who said that?!" Akane again built up his energy and this time shoved him in front of Eva's door. "Knock!" The man screamed like a little boy, knocked loudly, dropped the box and ran. "Fuck this job, i'm out of here!"

Eva nearly jumped out of her shoes when she heard the knock, "Geez, people these days are just rude..." She went to the door and peered through the peephole. Not seeing anyone she opened the door, but was taken by surprise when all she saw was a pizza box, "What on Earth is this?" Picking up the pizza box she opened it and smiled. It was the first time she had smiled in a long time. She muttered a thank you before heading back in her apartment, closing the door behind her.

Akane was laughing too hard to care about the now glairing face of Eva's gardian. "That wasn't very nice."

He didn't even look up, still watching the man running for his car. "No...i'll show you not nice..." In a blink he was sitting in the mans car, starting the engine and began to drive straight for him. The poor man nearly had a heart attack and ran back inside. "What the hell?!" His car finally stopped and he peered out the door. Akane reappeared in the hall in front of Eva's door under the harsh stare once again.

"You're right, that was worse."

Akane was still laughing. "I'm not a nice guy."

and he went in.

The being followed. "That concidered stollen you know."

He shrugged. "It's not like i haven't sinned before. besides, i'm the one that stole it and as you said already, she in way over her head."

Eva had already scarfed down about three slices before she started to feel full, "Oh... That hit the spot," She smiled to herself and laid down on her couch. She stared at her ceiling, her mind racing with thoughts of the seal, but it wasn't long after that when her eyes began to slowly close as she drifted to sleep.

Akane sat beside her, staring down at her. suddenly he didn't find anything so funny anymore. She was especially beautiful when she slept. He almost touched her lips before the man spoke. "I will not let you defile her. if you so much as kiss her that gives me grounds to expell you..." Not that he didn't want to of course, but rules were rules and not saying anything would be almost as bad as lieing.

Akane sat up and looked over at him. "So be it." He stood and went back to his side of the room where he sat against the wall and watched her silently.

Not long after she had dozed off Eva began muttering things. I was mostly 'No' but a few times she has mutttered 'Get away'. She fell silent once more, her face returning to its peaceful expression, but this didn't last long. Her eye grows furrowed as her hands slowly reached for her neck. She was being choked in her dream, but her body reacted as if it was being choked in the real world. The young adult be began to gasp for breath, but the ordeal didn't last very long. As she blacked out in her dream Eva found herself awake and staring at her ceiling. She was trembling, "That was the worst one so far..." She reached a shakey hand for her throat and rubbed it gently.

Akane tilted his head, stareing at her. "What the hell was that all about?" He looked to the figure frowning down on her.

"Nightmares. i don't know exactly what they're about myself but this has been going on for a very long time..."

He suddenly grew cold and shrugged, turnning away. "Not that i care, I'm just curious..."

The other man looked skyward for a moment with a sigh and sat down beside her, gently touching her hand. Though he knew she couldn't feel him physically, he sent his love to her and hugged her gently, trying to make her feel better.

Akane rolled his eyes. "You're a goody two shoes."

He stared at the demon for some time before speaking. "I'm here to make sure she stays out of harms way, guide her to the right choices, and record her actions. Unlike demons, we angels care for our keeps. These very lost children need some guidence, even if it's not in the physical realm. not that you'd understand about careing...traiter."

Akane wrinkled his nose. "We angels care for our...." He mocked in a very childish mannor. "Get over yourself."

He shrugged. "If that's all you have to say i'll thank you to be quite."

Again Akane mocked him but then was quiet.

A soft sigh escaped her lips as she covered her face with her hands. She satyed like this for a few minutes before getting up. Eva wandered towards her poor excuse for a bedroom and found her towel. Maybe a nice warm bath would serve to relax her a little bit more. kicking off her sneakers and socks she undressed and ran a hot shower. She stood under the showerhead letting the hot water run over her, the steam fogging up the mirror on the medicine cabinet.

Akane lifted an eyebrow as he stood and followed. This would be interesting. The being followed him with a deep set frown, something he'd been doing quite a lot in the last ten years. "What are you doing?"

Akane grinned. "Come on, you're invisible to her, haven't you ever had a nice peepshow?"

The man sighed in exasperation. "No. And you know that. you're just trying to make me angry. I have no sexual desires for her and that should be clear enough."

He shrugged. "I'm not an incubus, i just enjoy looking at the tits. come on...they're round and soft and..."

"Made for nurishing babies...not oggling. How did you end up this way?"

Akane thought back. "Let's see...oh yeah! I didn't like the rules. They're stuck up and boreing. corrupting these pathetic mortals is much more fun."

The being tilted his head slightly. "Well why are you here? She simply can't be corrupted anymore than she is."

Akane was silent for a moment. "I'm not here to corrupt her. I'm here to steal her limitless powers."

A tall staff suddenly appeared in the being's hands and he stood in front of the shower, staff outstreached. "You'll not pass this point. I don't care what you say you aren't."

Akane smirked slightly. "You don't want to fight with me. we're evenly matched and neither of us can die." He sighed and turned away. "You are seriously no fun...fine fine, have your way." He went to the mirror. "But i'm bored and you can't stop me from having a bit of fun..." He focused his energy and began to draw the center of his seal in the steamed mirror. "This ought to motivate her..."

"Ow... Crudy building," She muttered as the water almost burned her. Shaking her head she finished off her shower and shut off the water. Eva grabbed the towel off the rack and somewhat dried herself off before wrapping the towel around herself and stepping out, "What in the world is going on?" She whispered as she approached the mirror, "I must be losing my mind..." She used her forearm to wipe the mirror before returning to he room and quickly dressing herself in a purple tank top and black shorts.

Akane followed as did her gardian. "So, do you follow her everywhere?"

The man frowned. "Not usually no. But if i leave for too long you may try something. now thanks to you i may get into trouble for not reporting right away."

He tilted his head. "Seriously? I'm glad i was never in the gardian class. that'd drive me nuts..."

The gardian was silent for a moment. "It's a duty i like. She was such a beautiful child, one my most intelegent."

He smirked. "Yes well that's because of what she is."

The gardian shook his head. "No, it's because she had a very loving family. we used to pray together when she was very little. all the way up until she went to middle school. That's when we first encountered you. though i'm sure you don't remember."

Eva rummaged around her bedroom till she found a pencil and a blank piece of pape. She ran her fingers through her now curly hair, making sure it wasn't tangled. Once back in her living room she closed the book and put it on her lap, using it as a substitute desk while she propped her feet on the small coffee table. She tapped her chin with the pencil before se began to draw. Slowly and carefully she drew, but after about thrity minutes or so she managed to draw the seal, "Nice..." She muttered to herself with a slight laugh.

The gardian shivered as an unseen wave of energy washed through him and Akane chuckled. "No mortal can do that the first try...."

The gardian grew angry and did something he both had never done before, and knew he shouldn't. He grabbed up the book from her and hurrled it across the room. "Damn it listen to me!" He yelled at her, unsure if he'd expanded too much energy throwing the book. "Repent this path now! Please before you're soul is destroyed forever!" He knelt before her, taking her hands.

Akane visibly flinched as the book hit the wall leaving a rather lage dent. "Impressive. I didn't think you had it in you." Then he smirked wider. "Oh my, you said a bad word..."

He growled up at Akane. "Thanks to you i've interfeered with her life! You could have the desceny to shut up!"

Up until now he'd never seen an angry angel. They were usually very placid. He was caught between being scared and amused. He had to earn some points for that...

Eva let out a scream as the book flew across the room. She stared at it wide-eyed for a few minutes before scurrying off into her room. Once inside to closed and locked the door. She could feel her hear pounding in her chest as well as tears welling up in her eyes. It was only the second in her life she had felt so scared.

Akane was actually very worried about her. He left the arguement and went into her room, walking through the door. He sighed deeply as he set his hand on her shoulder and whispered into her ear. "He's just concerned love."

The gardian wasn't sure what to do. He was definately in trouble. The rules clearly stated that contact with his keep was strictly forbiddon unless it was a life or death situation. Sure he'd just hopefully set her on the right path and saved her soul from etrnal fire, but he wondered what his own punishment would be for not keeping quiet.

Eva shook her head and closed her eyes, trying hard to empty her thoughts. Upon opening them she found a headache had taken refuge in her temples. Groaning softly she climbed onto her bed and buried her face in the pillow. She wasn't going to sleep, but she just needed so time to let the headache settle and perhaps make up her mind about what she was going to do with the book.

Her gardian looked at the book on the floor with a heavy sigh. He went over to it. "Well my keep...i'm already in trouble...might as well make it worth my time..." He opened the book to the section on angel seals and found his. "I just...hope this helps." He went into her room and stood beside her, looking down at her as he'd done many times when she was a small child. "I have to go away for a little bit...but i'll be back..." He hoped anyway.

Feeling the headache subside Eva sat up and looked around her room, "This place is a dump," She said to herself before noticing the book, "How did this get in here?" She was cautious around it, unsure of what might come of it, but she noticed the seal in the page was different, "An angel's seal?" She said as if talking to someone else in the room, "Maybe someone's looking out for me..."

Akane wasn't sure what to do at the moment. He sat beside her as the being began to walk out. "Hey wait. where are you off to. you have to babysit remember."

He sighed deeply. "i can't. i broke a serious rule and i have to go atone for it. i can only hope now that they'll send someone in my place or that you'll decide to behave."

"Rules..." Akane frowned. "Well good luck with that."

He only frowned and left, not speaking.

The paragraph about him in this book interested Akane.

"Darius is in the gardian class and has sheppered such great rulers as Queen Ann of Scotland. The keep of this gardian in most cases will turn into a very beautiful and great person, spiritually sound and truely loved."

"Truely loved, eh?" She shook her head, "And the other one says 'Use extreme caution'... " She glanced out her window, the moonlight filling her room, "I could use some fresh air..." She opened her window all the way and stepped onto the fire escape. The old metal bars creaked and groaned as she moved around. Eva sat down next to her window and stared at the moon, "One's good and one's evil. Well, look where good got me and my family... Nowhere," she paused and thought for a moment, "Evil... Well, I'm not that bad. Mean maybe, but not bad,"

Akane followed her, sitting beside her. Something stirred in him and he sighed as he looked over at her. "He loves you sweetie. I can tell. You're lucky that you have a gardian like him..."

Darius was the strongest and most rule inclined angel he'd ever come across. His love for this girl practically radiated from him. Akane just couldn't understand why. "Problem with him is it's only platonic...oh if you could see me and feel me...i'd make you very happy..." There was a hint of lust to his voice. "Too bad i'm not in the incubus class...damn i want you..."

Eva turned to look to look in Akane's direction, but she was unable to see him. Instead what had caught her eyes was a hand that was sticking out a neighboring window tossing a crumpled piece of paper to the streets below. She watched the paper fall till it hit the street before turning towards her open window. She looked at the book long and hard before laying down on the fire escape. Her shirt lifted to expose her midriff. Her fingers found and followed along one of her childhood scars. The scar was two and a half inches long. The price she paid for climbing and hopping a fence. Although she got away successfully she was left with a gift.

He was surprised for a moment but suddenly realized what she was looking at. His head tilted slightly as he stared blankly down at her body. She wasn't perfect, but he didn't like perfect...and in all honesty he wanted to lick that scar.

Eva slowly slipped back into her bedroom. The young woman turned off the light, letting only the moonlight illuminate the small space. She laid down and allowed her deep green eyes to stare at the ceiling. Her lips began to move as she began to sing a lullaby her mother used to sing her as a child, "Hush now baby don't you cry. Rest your wings my butterfly. Peace will come to you in time. And I will sing this lullabye," She fell silent, mer mind trying to remember the rest, but only coming up with the final verse, "The world has turned the day to dark. I leave this night with heavy heart. When I return to dry your eyes. I will send this lullaby," As she finished the final line, her eyes slowly closed and she drifted off to sleep.

Akane decided to go for a walk. He had quite a lot to think about and decided to take the book with him. he hated the fact he could manipulate small object but she wouldn't see him or really hear him until she called upon him. He sat on the curb, flipping through the book and looing back at the building every no and again. He frowned. "The place really is a shit hole..." He grumbled to himself. and then he formulated an idea...

Eva turned in her bed her eyes slowly fluttering open. Her deep green orbs glancing at the nearby clock. Only a few hours left till sunrise and she couldn't sleep, "Today's been a weird day. Kind of funny, but scary at the same time..." She muttered with a soft sigh and closed her eyes in an attempt to go back to sleep.

Akane stood over the body of the landlord and grinned malisiously. He took the insurrance polacy and the mans will and focussed on the lettering. Soon it changed. "In this last will and testament you shall give your estate and all that is in it to your secret mistress. and..." He took out a pen and paper and began scribbling. "For some time, my life has been nothing but hardship and I've decided that it is my time to end myself and give all to someone else. I have decided that everything I own will go to my dear Eva Rowena Eskarne, the woman who brought at least a little light to my life around the end. To her I give the apartment building I own, the insurance policy that comes with it, and every one of my worldly possessions. These small things at least I can give to her in hopes that she can be happy. And to her I bid well before I go, for she is the last thing on my mind even now. Live life to the fullest, my dear, and may it always reward you.

~Henry~"

He then turned to the body of the mans wife and put the gun in Henry's hand. A murder/suicide was the perfect alliby. He walked back to the apartment growling softly. "Bastard has a fucking mansion and lets people rot in this building. Have a great time in hell, i'll be there to punish you soon enough." He hated humans, but especially those like this man who deserved hell. "More fuel for the master...."

Eva's eyes fluttered open once more, this time the rays of sunlight that filled her room, shined warmly on her, "I wonder what time it is..." She rubbed the sleep from her eyes and looked around for the clock. Her eyes soon went wide as she scrambled out of bed and pulled out some clothes from her closet. A torn pair of black jeans, sneakers and a grey t-shirt. Getting dressed she scrambled to the bathroom and brushed her teeth. After combing her hair she grabbed her keys and rushed out, "I'm late. I'm gonna get fired..."

While she was gone Akane kicked the door open and stole everything from her. even her clothes and tooth brush. Then he smirked as he stood in the door way. He lit a match and watched the flames shoot up the wall. "Well...i guess it's a good thing this never happened while she was here." He didn't care for the other people, but he wanted to make sure she was out of the building. The people involved with the will would contact her at work and then she'd get the mansion. There was no one to contest the will so all she had to do was sign a few documents and she'd be set for life.

Eva arrived at her job and recieved a serious scolding from her employer. She promised the man she wouldn't come in late. Once forgiven she went to work as a waitress in a local diner. Such a stereotypical job, but it was only one that would hire her. After about five hours she recieved a phone call from the fire warden telling her there had been a fire in her apartment. She felt her heart drop and tears well up in her eyes as she hung up the phone. About an hour later she recieved another phone call, this time her employer glared at her and mentioned that the phone was not for her personal use. Sighing softly she listen to what the person on the other side was telling her. The man told her he would send someone to come pick her up so that she could sign the necessary papers. The troubled girl felt her heart jump into her throat, she simply could not believe her ears.

Back in the apartment...land...all that stood there from the fire were the pipes and a pile of ashes. People stood around the mess, crying and screaming. Akane smirked wickedly as he held the book tightly. He stood behind a tree where all her belongings had been hidden under a few tarps. He slid the book under it, opening it to page 23 with a smile and walked around the crowed as fire crews sifted through the still hot ashes. The master should be proud of him for this disaster...

A limo pulled up outside the diner and a tall, cold looking man in a suite and tie stepped out. He went up to the door and looked inside, scanning the place to try and find out which one was Eva. once he found her he waited for her to finish with that table before appraching her. "If you'll come with us. We have a few questions for you before we fully sign everything over to you. The building was apparently burned to the ground early this morning."

Eva stared at the man, her eyes filled with a mixture of fear and disbelief, "Um... Yes, Sir," Eva moved her hands behind her back to untie her apron when her manager came storming out. The gluttonous man looked at Eva then to the man in the Suit, "She's not going anywhere! Her shift's not over and she has to work overtime to make up for her lateness!" Eva was about to hand her apron off to another employee when she felt a hand grab her wrist in a vice grip, "If you so much as take a step out of here, you're fired. You hear me? Fired!"

At this point they had quite the audience. The peering eyes of the customers and employees were fixated on the trio. It didn't take long for her to feel uncomfortable. The feeling was adding on to the roller coaster she was already on, making her wonder when it would all come to an end.

The man grinned. "Miss if you'll exscuse me but...if you don't walk out this door with me you will forefeight your rights to eighty point five million dollars and two mansions. Believe me you can quit and shove it in his face now. you're a multi millonair."

Eva yanked her hand out of her Manager's grip and stared wide-eyed at the suited man, "What!?" She exclaimed in disbelief, "H-How can that be?... This has to be a mistake...." She rambled on. There was a few more minutes of the rambling before she got a grip on herself, "Okay, I'll go... But..." She shook her head and walked out the door. The Manager screaming that she was fired.

The limo ride was taken in silence. For over an hour they drove to the outskirts of town, up into the hills where the stars lived. One house the pulled up to the driveway in and the tall iron gate closed behind them. The house its self was three stories with a wrap around porch. it was all white and they made their way around a huge fountain that centered a circular driveway. Behind the house lay several achers of forest and a giant cage lay on the side. Inside the cage there were all manner of birds. "He really went all out when he had this place built..." He stepped out of the limo and held the door for her. "if you'll follow me inside we'll prepare the papers."

Eva had to keep her jaw from dropping at the sight of the gorgeous house, "T-Thank you..." She said quietly as she stepped out of the car. Her eyes were bouncing from place to place as they tried to take everything in. Things had happened so quickly within the past couple of days. She began to notice something. All of this had started after she had taken out that book, but by now it was probably ashes.

The front door was actually two and the floor inside was polished granit. But there was something unusual about the ceiling. If one didn't look close enough or for long enough it could look like a seascape painting...but if you looked for more than a few minutes, slow you'd begin to realize that the fish were alive and swimming slowly above in a giant tank. "I forgot to mention..." He pointed at them. "You also inherited the animals...and you have a zoo of them...The tigers are in the back yard."

"Tigers?" Eva almost found herself smiling as she continued to look around, "All this is mine?" She found herself walking over to the middle of the floor and staring upward, "This guy must've had a lot of time on his hands... I can't believe this," Closing her eyes she brought herself back to reality, turning to the man and quirked an eyebrow, "Didn't you say there were some papers I had to sign?"

He nodded and opened a door to the right. "Yes of course." He lead her into a large living room and sat down on the couch. He set his briefcase on the table, opening it. He pulled out a stack of paper an inch thick. "Basically this is the first set you need to sign. read over pages one, ten, fifteen, and thirty. these are the important pages. you'll need to sign and initial at the bottom of pages one, and thirty." He pulled out a second stack. "This is your copy. you'll need to sign them as well."

Eva nodded and followed the man. Taking a seat she picked up the first stack and began to read the required pages, signing where she needed to. Setting that stack down she sighed and picked up the second stack, signing those as well. She looked at the man for a moment before letting her eyes wander around the lavish living room, "Um, is there anything else I need to sign or read, Sir?" she asked letting her eyes once again settle on him.

He shook his head. "Not for now. The fire marshal has to do some investigating before we sign over the insurance. it appears you were rather lucky today..."

Eva nodded slowly, "So, will I be staying here tonight?" She asked as she fiddled around with the bottom of her shirt.

He nodded. "The building was burned completely to the ground. The only thing salvaged was this book...." He reached into the brifecase under another stack of papers. "We saw your name in the check out card. Some pretty heavy stuff there. if the fire hadn't started well after you went to work i'd be suspicious of you..."

Taking the book she let her fingers glide over the cover, "Yeah, part of me regrets taking it out, but that's of no importance," She sighed and looked at the man, "Suspicious? Trust me I had nothing to do with that, Sir,"

He shrugged. "It's not really my concern. There are a thousand crooked apartment owners...he may have burned it himself." He stood and smiled coldly. "Well At any rate, I wish you luck and have fun exploring your new house. It's paid off so all you have to pay are utilities and with the three thousand dollar pention you're now recieving you should be financially set for the rest of your life...unless of course you go on a massive spending spree..." And with that he took his briefecase with his copy of the papers and left.

Akane wandered the streets looking for someone...someone he'd already ruined. A monster of a man who was generally stoned out of his gored. Finally fining him under a bridge he smiled. "Hi."

The man jumped as he saw Akane. "What the hell are you doing here man?! go away dude!"

Akane laughed and shook his head. "Do you want a place to live? Where you'll be safe and i'll bring you all the cocaine you could ever want..."

He stilled as he stared up at his old friend. "I can't pay you."

Akane shook his head. "Getting there is the payment. You'll probably be locked away for life. Come on buddy, you know you can't stay out here forever...just take these matches and wander over to the police station."

He was silent for a long moment. "Drugs won't put me away and what's with the matches?"

Akane smiled wickedly and rested his hand on the man's houlder. "You set a terrible fire Andrew. A lot of people died. And everyone lost their home. You did it with these matches. you fell asleep in the hallway while having a roach."

"I...I did?"

Akane nodded. "If you want free drugs for the rest of your life you did..."

The man was silent for a moment and reached out slowly.

"I hate you man...you tricked me. You made me think you were my friend."

Akane patted his shoulder as he took the matches. "We're great friends Andrew! I love you like my brother! What good friend wouldn't give you everything you need?"

Eva smiled slightly, "Shopping spree, I doubt it, but I think a bath sounds like the best idea before I decide to start any real exploring..." She stood up holding the book close to her, "Um, do you have some place I can contact you in case I have any questions," She slowly walked over to a small table that had a mirror above it. She looked like hell. There was grease on her shirt and pants, and her hair was a complete mess. On top of that she could hear her stomach begging her for food.

He pulled a card from his pocket and handed it to her. "My number is on the back, don't worry I'll be keeping in touch. If you'll exscuse me now though, I must be going."

Eva nodded and took the card, "Thank you, Sir," She walked out to the front door and waited for him. She had been taught as a child to see her guest to the door.

He followed slowly, glancing around as he left. He'd likely never see this house again. after the investigation and it was one of his favorites. "Thank you and I will be in touch." He shook her hand before turning back to the limo.

Eva smiled slightly as she shook his hand, "No, Sir. I think I should be thanking you..." She muttered to herself as she closed the door. Now here she was alone in this massive house. Her eyes began to wander like they had done when she first arrived, but they settled on the fish swimming about in the ceiling.

Akane slowly approached the house with a smile. The basement would be perfect for her to use the spell book...he'd just have to leave her some creative hints...

Eva sighed softly as she let her body slip further down the tub. It was filled almost to the brim with hot water, but she didn't care whether or not it spilled out. All she wanted to do was relax and let it all go.

Akane smirked as he saw the mirror beginning to fog up. He kept his eyes away from her though it was very difficult. When it was steamed enough he walked up to it. he stared at it for a few moments then decided to wait until she was looking at it before did anymore. it would effect her more if she watched it being etched into the glass. He also felt a bit sorry for her and wanted to let her finish her bath.

Eva sunk down lower till she was completely submerged. She stayed there for a few minutes. Coming up she let her eyes wander around the lavish bathroom, "I'm up and I'm down, and I've gone all around. But from start to finish I'm never on solid ground," She continued to mutter it over and over in her head, adding lines as she went along till her eyes settled on the mirror by the medicine cabinet, 'I wonder what the owner kept in there,'

Akane smirked as she glanced over at the mirror. "You want to open it? there's alkinds of fun in here. What can i get you hooked on?"

Standing up in the tub Eva grabbed a near by towel and wrapped it loosely around her body. Her bare feet padded softly against the tiled for as she approached the elaborate medicine cabinate. Reaching a hand out she opened it and began to survey the various pills and boxes, "This guy had his own pharmasey in his bathroom..."

Akane was greatful that she wasn't able to hear him because at this sentance he burst into laughter. " oh my darling you haven't any idea..." While she wasn't paying attention to the mirror it's self he began to draw his seal. "i think i'll play with you for a few days love. just until i'm sure you can summon me..."

Sighing softly Eva looked around. She was looking for something, "There we go," She chimmed to herself as she walked a chort distance and picked up a small trash receptical. Holding it up to the medicine cabinet she began to empty it shelf by shelf.

Akane took this opportunity to start drawing on the mirror. He smirked as she picked up a bottle labled as tylonal, but was in actuality a heavy halucenigin. "yes, do throw that away....i'm not inclind to call paramedics for you..."

Eva smiled after emptying the entire medicine cabinet. Still in her towel she wandered into the master bedroom and began to rumage through the drawers, picking up scattered pill bottles, "This man is diplorable... Or at least was.."

Grinning maddly to himself, Akane began to push the mirror closed in such a way that it made a whining, creeking sound.

Still wrapped in her towel Eva walked back into the bathroom. The creaking noise attracting her like a moth to a flame. She watched as she mirror slowly closed, her feet carrying her closer to it . Her eyes were glued to it, taking in the familiar seal. This was the first one she had seen int he book and remembered it clearly, "Akane," She whispered the name as she looked at the seal. Her heart was pounding at this point and could be heard clearly in the silence following her words.

Still smirking like a madman he slinked up to her, circling her slowly. he reached out and willed his fingers to gently graze her skin. He watched in amusement as this action raised goosebumps where his fingers had been. "That's right..." He whispered as he leaned close in her ear, willing his voice to be heard as a soft whisper.

A shuddered breath escaped Eva'a lips as she rolled her shoulders back to rid herself of the tingle in them. She could feel her heart pounding through her towel as she held it close to her. Fear and panic were rippling through her nerves as her ears registered the whisper, her eyes however, were glued to the mirror, staring at the seal and watching it slowly fade away. She was tempted, so very tempted to raise her free hand and run a finger along the seal, tracing it, letting her finger memorize it, but fear held her back.

He chuckled, low and soft in her ear before deciding that was enough for the day. He left her there, grinning from ear to ear as he began to wonder what would happen when she finally did call upon him. the possibilites were endless. with sight came touch and smell...oh the things he could do to her once she aknowleged his presence.

Eva could feel herself trembling as his chuckle entered her ear. She felt as if she was losing her mind, but knew in her heart that her sanity was still intact. Once she got her legs to react to went back into the bedroom and exchanged the towel for a sapphire silk robe, before slipping under the sheets. Despite all the animals, the massive house was predominantly quiet, leaving her alone with her thoughts.

Akane went back to the site where he'd hidden some of her things and decided to retrieve them before someone else got to them. she could buy anything she wanted now, but he was sure these old photos couldn't be replaced. He sat there looking through the box for a few moments until he heard a familiar voice.

"I hope you're happy demon!"

Akane smiled before he turned. "oh...hello again. i assume you're looking for you're keep?"

The man glaired at him. "not exactly. don't you want to know my punishment?"

Akane smirked. "Well...if you want to share..."

There was no possible way to glair any harder. "I've been stripped of most of my powers and my energy and reduced to a ghost for a year...thanks to you!"

Akane raised an eye brow. "that's all? really? you must have an impressive track reccord. the last one i corrupted was kicked out all together."

He growled. "I may not be as strong as you anymore but i now have no bounds to stop me from warning her!"

Akane stood and closed the box. "You can't do anything to stop me."

Eva for the most part slept soundly on the comfortable bed, the every so often her body would tremble. Even in her slumber the silence was defeaning. Some company would have been nice, but she didn't have any friends. Slowly opening her eyes she got off the bed and fetched the lawyers card from her pants that her hanging off a chair. She eyed it carefully and shook her head. There was no point in calling him. What reason would she have? Besides, he was more than likely busy with other wealthy clients. Crawling back in bed she laid down and stared at the ceiling, trying to get her mind off the voice she heard.

Akane watched the other being disappear and decided to let him have his way for a while. He had other things to worry about at the moment anyway.

Spotting a suitible body he temporarily possessed the tall, handsom man, and headed to his favorite occult shop. Walking in, he smiled at the man behind the counter. Behind the smile was an almost hysterical laughter at the sight of an amulet around his neck. "Good afternoon." The man nodded. "Good afternoon. what are you looking for?" He looked around. "A summoning cloth, soapstone chalk, and five black candles." He was sure this would evoke a reaction. "What demon are you trying to summon? you know that's a very dangerous feat and not one to be tried by a novice." Akane nodded. "i am no novice sir, dispite my age. I seek to conjure Akane, the deamon of fals dreams." He gave a wide grin at this. how he loved his title. he'd lead so many astray for so long he was sure to be a favorite. "I see...everything you need is in the back room." Akane smiled again. "Thank you."

Pulling herself somewhat together Eva got out of bed and dressed herself. She figuered most of her clothes had burned in the fire and soon her mind began to race with the thoughts of new luxurious clothes. With her fear now forgotten she rumaged through one of the bedside drawers and found some cash, debit and credit cards. Taking a little bit of everything she made her way downstairs and into the garage, her mind debating which of the gorgeous cars she should take. Settling on the least obnoxious she hopped in and was on her way.

Her former gardian had appeared beside her and sat himself in the back seat. They could make him give up his powers but they couldn't make him stop protecting her. especially now that he lived by the rules of a mere ghost. it just meant he'd have to build up a lot more energy to move things or talk to her. he'd bide his time for the moment and watch.

Akane found keys in the mans pocket a long with a credit card and bought his things. Sure he was a demon but he never did like to steal things. besides this body was way too important. it was his own height and resembled him a bit at that. well the human looking form he chose to take. even he himself didn't like his true form. he'd learned quickly that evil begot uglyness and he was to say the least, very ugly. Walking out he found the car and smirked. 'Damn i had a good pick!' A black convertable. Then his eyes widened as he sat down and noticed a matching bag from the same shop. 'Oh dear...i wonder if he knows...' Inside the bag were the exact opposite items. a white cloth with white candles and an ankh. 'Oh...well that's very amuzing...'

Finding a suitable parking spot she, parked and got out. She began feeling a little nervous as she received looks from the rest of high society. Perhaps it wasn't a good idea to come directly to the boutiques, but alas she didn't feel like going back. Smiling slightly she held her head high and walked into one of the boutiques and began her shopping spree of sorts, "Screw these, high and mighty bastards," She muttered under her breath as she spotted the two employees staring at her and whispering amoungst themselves.

Akane got a bit of a sinking feeling as he looked at the adress on the mans drivers licence. He lived next door to where Eva now lived. okay, this was getting suspicious...

Darious sighed heavily. scociety was very wrong these days. he felt his heart nearly break remembering the early days when people were just a little closer to each other. when families weren't torn apart by jobs and divorce.

By the time she was finished, both hands and the majprity of her trunk were filled with shopping bags from different shops and boutiques. Some of them treated her nicely and actually helped her tryon and buy a few items, while others were less than friendly. Those were the ones she'd revisit out of spite once she was nicely dressed. She wanted nothing more than to make them eat their words. Getting into her car she started it up and began her drive back to her new home. The clothing an accessories she bought would serve as entertainment for the time being. She could finally have some fun playing dress up, like she used to do as a child.

Darius sat again in the back seat, staring out the window as she drove. He began to question everything. why was he staying with her? why hadn't the sent another gardian? surely they couldn't all be buisy...He also wondered with that man would be able to summon him in a years time. He'd already broken the rules once, and for something he felt was drastically important he'd do it again and again if he had to.

Akane decided to let the man go for the moment. He knew he could go visit him any time he needed. right now he wanted to get back to Eve. first the first time ever he was beginning to think of her as a keep. He knew the ups and downs of rich life, having lived them through many many many corrupt indeviduals, and the very dark side of having all that money made him worry about her...worry...that's not something a demon should do unless faced by an exorsist...

Eva pulled into the very sae spot where she'd originally pulled the car from, then made her way back into the house, arms laden with her bags. She locked the door behind her, an automatic habit, then made her way for the room she'd chosen was hers. The bags were set on the floor and she set herself to trying everything on again. Sure, they'd fit in the stores, but she wanted to see if they would all mix and match properly. If she was to make it in this high society, then she had to be just as good as these spoiled goons.

She undressed before the mirror, for once ignoring the scar on her stomach and pulling on a dress of indigo. It seemed too princessy all alone, so she topped it with a beaded sash and pulled on a pair of black leggings beneath it. With the broper bracelets, she looked like a wealthy kid Madonna.

(i'm changing his name from Darius to Malichai)

Malichai wandered into the room behind her slowly and leaned against the door frame as he watched her with a bit of a sad smile. He knew Akane would never see her the way he was able to.

In Malichai's mind, Eva was still the bright and happy five year old he'd come to love very deeply. His most cherrished moments with her were when she was happiest, playing dress up in her room all alone. he felt that if he had been given a human life, he'd have been the father her father couldn't really be. These memories and feelings he kept close, trying to forget the bad things she'd done over the years.

as a ghost he began to have more human like emotions and right now one he was learning was hate. he hated Akane with all of his being. If it wasn't for him, she'd still be near saint status. He turned to be faced with said demon and glared angrily. "You just won't leave her for ten minutes will you?!"

Akane chuckled. "looks like you're enjoying the show? you know it's not against the rules anymore to touch her. i bet she'd like it."

Malichai hissed out his next reply before running past the demon. "I am so much better than that! my feelings for her you'd never understand!"

Akane stared after him for a moment, grinning slightly. "it's so easy to goad you."

However, he had better things to do than to continue pestering the former angel. He walked up behind her, willing himself to be seen in the reflection for a moment, wondering how she'd react.

Looking up from the outfit she'd just put on, Eva let out a shriek as she spotted the man behind her in the mirror, thinking that someone had broken into the house. She moved fast, using the purse in her hand as a weapon to swing at his head closing her eyes in fear as she moved. She was more than surprised when she didn't connect with anything and opened her eyes to see that the room was empty. She took a few heavy breaths through her nose, then looked at the mirror again, her heart thudding against her ribcage.

Akane was too buisy laughing to keep up the energy it took to appear anymore. He'd let her alone for the rest of the day, as he had things to prepare. He gently patted her head though he knew she couldn't feel it at the moment, and left the room. He passed a very depressed looking Malichai at the front door, looking like a wounded puppy. He went out to find the man he'd possessed, just getting out of his car next door.

The look of confusion on the mans face was just as priceless as Eva's look of terror. Then he got an idea as he saw the man pick up the bags. This was going to be more fun than killing off that other guy...

Eva sat slowly on the bed, breathing deeply with a hand on her chest. Maybe she was tired? Maybe there were some unconscious stress problems? She'd never dealt well with change and her whole life had changed in a very short time. She looked at the mirror one more time, then moved to look around the house, just moving to get the need out of her legs. She wondered if it was possible to get lost, but doubted it. Maybe if she looked about a bit, she would be able to find a way to entertain herself... and get her mind off of whatever it was she saw in the mirror. As she reached the top floor, she suddenly thought of the book. She paused, then shook her head. Ridiculous...

Andrew piper was horrible confused as he looked at the bags in his hand. He deffinately sensed another presense in the house and wasn't sure if he should address it or not.

this was a playful type of evil that he'd never felt before. He hadn't remembered leaving the house but now he found himself just getting out of his car.

he dropped the keys in the dish by the door and sighed as he headed up to his room to put away the things he-or rather his body, had just bought.

his room looked like something out of a Medevial castle. he'd heighered the best painters to recreate very realistic looking stone blocks on his walls. from his window he could see into the house next door and watched curiously as he saw a new person. "well well well..." he mumbled in amusement.

Akane had followed him there and was startled as he turned to look at the demon. "You're not very good at hiding." Andrew mused as he stepped back from the window. "And if you're here to take my soul you're too late."

Akane stared in shock for a moment. again, a feeling a demon shouldn't have unless faced with an exorsist. "Actually, i'm after her soul. i just think you could help."

Andrew looked back out the window. she seemed to be hesitating on the stairs and he wondered if she would be able to see him. "She's cute. how is it you think i can help you?"

Akane looked over at her himself. "She has my seal. and i need her to draw it. when i possessed you i didn't realize you were so...knowlegable in these things. she needs help."

Andrew shruged. "What's in it for me?"

Akane chuckled at this. "Her body...trust me, she's well worth the wait without her clothes."

Andrew's eyebrows raised. "what about him?" He pointed to the former angel now standing beside the girl, glairing at Akane. "he possessed me first. and he made me a better offer."

Akane was growing irritated with Malichai. "Yes well, i'm sure he wants you to summon him. i'll thank you to do that when the time comes. you've got a year to this day to prepare for that. she's to summon me. all i want for you to do is to become her friend."

Andrew shrugged slightly. "i suppose." He stood at the window, leaning out it, staring at her in hopes she'd look his way.

meanwhile Malichai sighed heavily. he didn't realize the man had such a dark history himself, but he was the best means to an end that he could find. a powerful soul, infused with a demon. it was a small price to pay in order to destroy Akane when the time came.

Walking to the deck on the top floor, Eva looked around, leaning her head onto her arm on the banister. Everything around her was pristine and wonderful, but neighbors eyed each other as though suspicious of something. She hadn't met her own neighbors, but doubted they would have any interest at all in...

Without warning, the banister bowed out and she was falling toward the ground. Only her automatic grip on the rail kept her from plummeting to her death. She screamed in surprise, clinging on for dear life.

Akane's eyes widened in horror as did Andrew's and Malichai's. Malichai used up his energy to grab her hand but couldn't find the strength to pull her up.

Andrew quickly weighed his options. if he jumped from his roof he could make it over the fence and land on the table that sat under it. it was a wide leap but having been in the navy, he'd made larger ones before.

Without a second thought he was out the window and landed rather hard on his ankle on the table, but paid it no mind as he dashed forward, opening his arms. "Hey, i'll catch you! let go!" his heart was beating quickly as he looked up at her.

while Andrew was in rescue mode, Akane was enjoying the panty shot and Malichai let go of her, diving down from the roof to tackle the demon with a growl. "she might have died you sick bastard and all you can think about is her ass?!"

Akane chuckled slightly as he looked up at Malichai who was now on top of him as they lay in the grass. "Wow...i didn't know you felt that way about me Malichai. now i know why you're not all over her."

He laughed insanely as Malichai stood quickly. he laughed even as the former angel kicked him in the side. "you're sick!" Akane snorted. "I'm a demon of course i am. it's part of the fun."

Andrew was ignoreing the two beings as he looked up at her, hoping she trusted him enough to listen.

Eva Tried to look over her shoulder to see the man on the ground. She had no chance to make a decision though as a free nail cut her hand and she fell with a cry, curling up into a ball in fear.

That made it easier to catch her, but he frowned as he saw the blood pooling in her hand. "you okay?"

he wanted to tell the two to shut up about her clothes but he'd already sworn to Malichai not to let her know he could see them.

Akane got up slowly and looked over at Malichai with a grin. "you know, if you'd looked too, you'd notice that she's wearing leggingings. it's not like i saw anything special. well..." he quipped. "i suppose her ass is special...with or without coverings. take a look one of these days. you have equiptment now, you might be surprised."

Malichai growled. "i had this...equipment...as you call it, before but i'm a pure being."

Akane had another laughing fit at this. "pure! hahaha! you don't know what pure is anymore. you're not half as powerful as you were before. if it suited my needs i could destroy you!"

Andrew began back towards his house to get away from the bickering and to give first aid to the beautiful woman in his arms. "I used to be in the navy. i've got a pretty good first aid kit in my house, let me take care of that. it may need stitches."

Eva cradled her hand against her chest, whimpering slightly. "I... I... thanks... and... please..." She gasped slightly during speech, nearly opening another cut in her lip to keep from crying. It hurt so much more than she remembered, the cutting of her flesh. Of course... she'd never quite been in her right min as a child. She knew the pain would go away eventually, but at the very moment, it throbbed anough to send stinging all the way up her arm, as though it hadn't just been her arm that was cut.

He gave her a bright smile. "Don't worry about it okay. so tell me. what's your name? I'm Andrew."

he mauvered carefully, pressing a button on the doorframe with his foot and it slid open. once inside the living room, he set her on the couch. "you wait right here okay? i'll be right back with stuff to fix that."

he returned a few moments later with a supply kit of bandages, stiching, alcohol, and varius other things one might need. "this is going to hurt a lot but i need you to stay as still as you can okay?" he took her hand and held a towel under her so the blood wouldn't go anywhere but on the towel. quickly he poured the alcohol over the cut and flinched as he guaged it's depth.

"it looks like you might need stitches. i've got all the stuff in here i just have sterilize the needle. if you don't want me to do it though, i can take you to the er. it's fairly close."

Akane stood beside them now and Malichai wasn't too far behind. they'd stopped their bickering in order to see if she was alright.

Eva stared into his face for a moment. "M-my name is Eva," he said, "I... I don' like hospitals, so as long as I don't get tetanus I'm fine with you helping me out." She looked down at her hand, slowly calming herself, as though it was something she'd had to do before. "How did you know I was in trouble?"

He grinned a little. "well, that house has been vacant for some time so i noticed the car pull up, and then i saw you come out on the balcony. i'd actually just gotten home myself. did you move in today?"

he didn't mention her behavior, figureing he'd know all about her soon enough. He worked quickly, sanitizing the needle and threading it with the stitching. "i've had to do this too many times before to count. so you'll be fine. it's fairly small, just deep. i'd say only five stitches should fix it."

Akane watched in an almost trance as Andrew worked. There was something so oddly familiar about that man. he looked up at Malichai who had a similar look on his face. "Okay brilliant, you spoke to him first, who is he?"

Malichai shrugged. "he's just the first person i happened to meet who saw me."

Eva cringed only slightly as Andrew began work on her hand. She watched, absorbing every bit of the sight and feel of her hand being pulled together again. "I think I inherited the house..." she said, "I guess that for some reason my landlord felt like leaving it to me and passed on..." she shook her head, "I heven't gotten more than that."

Though he didn't look up, there was a look of shock on his face for a moment. "I see. so the old bastard did have a heart after all. will you stay or do you think you want to sell it? did he die of spite or what? last i heard from him he and his wife had recconsiled and they were living together again. you probably inherited that house too then, if she's dead."

Akane chuckled and Malichai looked at him oddly. "What did you do demon?!" Akane stepped closer to Malichai, a suddenly serious look on his face. "First..." he reached up and took the shocked blonds face into his hand gently. "I possessed a mans body. and then i did this." he pulled Malichai into a deep kiss.

"SICK BASTARD!!!" he cried as he pulled away and Akane fell into another laughing fit. "Actually it was a murder suicide."

"I think I like the place," she said, "well... until it tried to kill me... I'll have to call someone to see if they can look the place over and tell me if there's anything else wrong with it..." she sighed. "I'm sorry... do you hear that buzzing? Whatever it is, it's making my ears ring..."

He looked up at her in confusion and then worry. "buzzing? no. did you hit your head on the way down?" He stood and began to carefully examine her head. "tell me if anything hurts." it wasn't until he looked up at the two that he realized she was probably hearing their energy.

Malichai growled. "you're so lucky i'm not at full power or i'd completely oblitterate you for that!" he shivered, thankful that as a ghost he didn't have a stomach. "you corrupt everything!"

Akane chuckled again but took more notice to Eva. "Can you hear me?"

Eva shook her head. "My head's fine," she said, "it just kinda sounds like something electrical is about to explode... It happened the time the Walkman I found fuzzed out on me." She looked at him curiously. "You said you were in the navy, right? Were you part of the crew's medical staff? I don't see why you'd have to know any of this otherwise?" She put one finger in her left ear as though the buzzing had gotten louder.

"No, but only because of a condition they found out about after training me. sure i should have told them in the first place but it really shouldn't have stopped me."

he looked away. "I was lucky they let me stay, and the rest of the guys proved that i should have been a doctor."

Akane frowned slightly and walked away. "I'll be next door. if you want to stay here you can but i'm bored."

Malichai sighed softly and followed, just to give his former keep some peace. he did not follow Akane back to the house however, instead he decided to take comfort in the only place he knew with certainty would help.

Eva shook her head one more time. "There we go... the buzzing's gone..." she looked at him a bit more carefully, "where are you from? Your accent's barely there, but you're definitely not native to LA. It kinda sounds like you're holding your accent back, actually..."

He blinked at her a moment. "i thought..." he he smiled slightly and pulled his hair out of the tail it was in to reveal very long ringlets. the red was covered by the black dye but it was pretty clear that it should be a different color. "You caught me." he dropped all attempts to hide the accent. "I Born in Dublin. but my parents moved here when i was only six. i've been a citizen for about twenty years. it's hard to keep up the act, but my crew mates disliked me working in the navy and not being born here..."

Eva made a face at this. "That's ridiculous," she said, "be who you are. What's the use of being someone everyone else will like if you can't stand yourself?" She rubbed the back of her injured hand and looked away. "If they don't like you then screw them.... They obviously don't matter." She had a slightly bitter tone to her voice.

He smiled a bit at her. "i dunno. i guess it was all the religious crap going around at the time. i'm irish, from the north and they assumed i was penecostal."

he grinned a moment but it was only brief. "They were horrified to learn that i'm a satanist."
