...so, today was my vacation day, thanks to Columbus invading this country.
Anyways, that's not what I intended to talk about.
So, it was my vacation day, and I had intentions to relax, lay around, be lazy and scare myself by playing some Fatal Frame. Having done all of my chores...I was free, however, my little sister was given the chore of straightening up the down-stairs. Not, mind you, not to clean the downstairs, just straighten it up.
My sister promised to clean it...and spent about four to five hours down-stairs. I assumed she was cleaning...I was dead wrong. After five hours there is a knock on the door, it is her friend Gabe. My sister comes bounding up the stairs and rushes out of the house with her friend. Quickly, I ask her if she cleaned down-stairs; she says she forgot and she promises to do it when she gets back.
Just so you know...she was asked at the beginning of the week to straighten up the down-stairs...and her excuse every-time was the same. She forgot...she promises to do it later, or tomorrow.
So, anyways, I go down-stairs and I see what looks like Hiroshima after the Atomic-Bomb was dropped.
I...was...PISSED!
Anyways, so I had to start cleaning.
I spend almost my whole vacation day doing the following:
[*]Cleaning and bleaching the toilet.
[*]Mopping the bath-room floor.
[*]Cleaning out the computer desk.
[*]Picking up garbage.
[*]Cleaning the bath-room mirrors.
[*]Cleaning and bleaching the sink.
[*]Cleaning and bleaching the shower.
[*]Vacuuming.
[*]Throwing out a shit-load of broken things.
[*]Re-organizing wires.
[*]Washing dishes.
[*]Aaaand, doing laundry.
Now, some of you may say: "Oh, stop complaining!" or "Why didn't you MAKE your sister do it?"
Even if I tried to make her do her responsibilities, it wouldn't have gotten done.
So, me to the rescue.
:sarcasm:
Anyways, let's talk about:
[*]Irresponsibility
[*]Cleaning
[*]Complaining
[*]Siblings

When I do chores, I like to get them done and out of the way. I pick up my room, make my bed, vacuum my room, I do the dishes, sweep, and make my Mother's and my Aunt's beds. My cousin is supposed to dust the living room, pick it up, vacuum it, and sometimes take out the trash. If she doesn't take out the trash, I do. She only vacuums it, and does her room. When she does vacuum it, she doesn't do it long enough.
Maybe I'm just a little nit-picky, but the least she could do is do it right. >.>
People who does things half-assed, thinks that 'well, it gets done,' whether it's they who do it halfway; or someone else who does it right. When they didn't do it, or didn't do it right.

I personally hate cleaning lol. but i live on my own with my fiance and we are both slobs so its no big deal lol. I mean if it get to nasty we usually both jump in to clean the place up. but usually its just the dishes and laundry that get out of control. the house we live in is too big for us to trash the whole thing. we don't have that much stuff lol. but if company comes over it has to be done and spotless before they get there because that's just plane disgusting and embarrassing.
When i was little my younger brother was a clean freak, older brother was a slob and they had to share a room. just imagine how smooth that went. but my room's floor was always a shelf and under my bed was a cabinet. lol. I'm a lot better now but I'm still a lazy slob. just cant get around it. not even the navy could knock it out of me lol.

I'm highly unmotivated so it takes me a bit of work to get started, but once I'm started I dont stop until the project is done.

Well thats good, I'm like that sometimes just depends how big the mess is and what kind of mood i'm in. but what usually helps is an energy drink or a red line. omg those are so powerful. lol if you drink the whole thing you may end up in the ER.

I can relate on the nit-picky part.
If a person is gonna do something, they could at least try to do it right.
My sister is a "half-ass"-er...either she doesn't do something...or she half-asses it.
Grr, maybe it's just my OCD...but it bugs me so much when people start things and then don't finish them.

I've become accustomed to cleaning. So much so, that I almost enjoy it now. Yes that's right...ENJOY it. My boyfriend, though I love him, is a big freakin' slob. No way around it, the guy is messy. I used to get on him about cleaning but when he does...he doesn't do it right. So now I just do it myself. I can't stand even watching him attempt to clean. He's slow and unorganized and just sucks. Really, how hard is it to load a dishwasher correctly? But alas, that is life.

I get frustrated when my parents see me studying for my exams and tell me to "Take a break" so that I can clean for them. My mother's pretty much OBSESSED with gardening, so in the 5 years we've been in this house, we still don't have furniture, or at least enough for it to look put together. But we have 19 maple trees, 5 complete gardens, and a row of leland cyprus trees down the side.
Even today, I'm frustrated with this concept. My mom's at work until 11:00, and Dad just took the brother to his fencing class. As he was leaving, he yells, "Girls, take care of the laundry and vacuuming!" What vacuuming? No one said ANYTHING about vacuuming today. That pisses me off. So earlier I had asked my sister to strip and remake Mom's bed because I have to wash and dry and hang up all the curtains. That was around...uh...2:30. I just went in there around 6:00, and it STILL hadn't been done. So I yanked it apart, put it back together, took the laundry down, started it, and carried a HUGE basket upstairs. I called for my sister so I can get some help. Where is she?
Sleeping.
UGH. I know she's got a cold, but come on. When I had surgery and couldn't WALK because I had a cast from my knee to my toes, I hopped around my parents' King-sized bed so that I could strip it and remake it.
While she sat on the computer.
Yeah. DX

@Kristal, yeah, there have been many times where I've wanted to do that, but I can't. But, in 45 minutes, I managed to dry and hang up all the curtains, vacuum the kitchen/mudroom, clean the kitchen, and start more laundry. Even though it sucks and I hate it, I do need to help out because my parents fund for a lot of my stuff. I drive my Dad's car and pay only for the insurance, I pay for my cell bill, too. They're also paying for my college education, but if I fail and have to retake a course, then I have to pay for it. And my Dad's up and taking off work to take me and my sister to NY so that we can see my favorite band 2 nights in a row. They do a lot for me, but it's the WAY that they make us do this shit that pisses us off.
And my sister sleeping her way out of shit. x_x

Well that's really nice of him. There aren't a lot of parent out there that can do that for their children. you should be thankful. Hell you should be thankful for both of your parent and how they care enough about you to get you an education. but i would still kick your sisters ass lol. You know motivate her a little bit with some black male or a spider or bug of some kind. Just something that will drie her up a wall when you want to. I'm sure you have something, your sisters lol.XD

I can relate! I live with my brother-in-law and husband, my brother-in-law doesn't DO anything, ever! You ask him over and over again and there is always some excuse. So instead of waiting weeks for something to get done (which never happens) I do it to save me the hassle and the headache. If I didn't do everything around here it'd be a mess 24/7.
Now I understand they all work, but honestly come on? You pay half the rent and you can't even clean your darn dishes or wipe up your mess? Heck! He doesn't even flush the toilet 95% of the time! Everytime we try to get him to do something he yells and screams that we are being picky. But it's his mess why should we have to clean it?
Also when he finally gets up to do something he half finishes it. He does one sink full of dishes reloads it and leaves it there for days. Then the apartment smells like dirty dishes and that is the worse smell ever, then we have to empty it and do them. You should see how he wipes up his messes. All he does it take a dry cloth and rub it it. Yeah, that's clean right?
I honestly can say I'm glad I never grew up with siblings. I can't handle living with my husband's so I can honestly imagine living with one 18 years. Though one thing is different I'd be on them all the time if they didn't do their chores and made me do them.
