My husband is a BIG conspiracy theorist; and when going through this forum trying to think of something new to discuss I found it hard to find a good topic. I searched the database for anything to deal with 9/11 and couldn't find anything. So if I missed something....I know it will be moved. >_> Anyways...

For those who do NOT know what I am talking about, it surprises me. It has been everywhere since that tragic day five years ago. People say that the buildings where not a result of terrorist attack, but in fact the result of a controlled government demolition act perpetrated to start a war.

This fact rimming that George Bush and his family had ties with Osama Ben Laden since the early '90s; through companys like the Carlyle Group.

Now I am not saying that I believe these "theories" I am just putting them out there for you to make your own opinion on the evidence and make your own conclusion.

One might ask, why would our government kill thousands of their own people? Well, what happened since then? The cost of oil went up, therefore raising the cost of food prices, in the end bringing more income to the government. Selfish? Yes, but then again this is the government.

I am sure some of you guys have seen some videos about this conspiracy. Michael Moore made a movie about it. Personally, I didn't like his movie, I thought it was stupid. However, he did make a good point. High end government officials do not send their children to wars, but they do make a point to send the recruiters to poor neighborhoods. It's like what System of the Down stated in their song "B.Y.O.B."
Quote:
Why don’t presidents fight the war?
Why do they always send the poor?
Enough about that part, back to September 11th 2001. The theorist did not appear right after the attacks either. It took a while for them to emerge. Again, you have the "The planes could not of brought down the whole building." "There was no physical evidence to support a plane crashing into the Pentagon." "The government new about the attacks long before they happened, but did nothing about it." And a few others, I can't think of right now.

The biggest evidence that the government knew about it, was some evidence that some might just call a coincidence. But certain television shows aired eerily shows depicting subliminal messages or even future things that might happen. You decide:

The X-Files aired 9 months before the attacks.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwmRpdyriII

The Simpsons aired 6 months before the attacks:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKkEq...eature=related

Both Matt Groening and Chris Carter are members of the Masons, a group known to be in on top government secrets. Maybe they where trying to warn us in their own little way.

Again, you can decide.

The Freemasons aren't "in" on government secrets. There are many politicians who belong to the organization, but then, I'm sure most male politicians were in the Boy Scouts at some point as well. I doubt they're running the government.

There are a few things that give me pause. The perfect way in which the towers fell, for one. That's hard to do even with a controlled, intentional demolition. No matter how the buildings were designed, it's highly unlikely that would happen by chance. And, the buildings were supposedly built to withstand a plane hitting them. Other buildings built in the same manner, many by the same people, have been hit by planes and have not fallen. Of course, that doesn't mean the government was behind it, and I think that's where a lot of conspiracy theorists start grasping. The government did know there was a possibility of it happening. But then, they also knew there was a good chance Katrina would happen eventually, but that doesn't mean they're responsible for it. The government sucks, no doubt about it, but you can't just assume they're behind everything.

You're right, it's not so much the free masons as it is the knights templar...or so they want you to think that. lol. Supposedly every government official that has a saying in the government is in this secret society.

ANYWAYS.

There are a lot of things that don't make sense, they had an episode on Myth Busters (I think it was MB...it might of been a show by itself) But anyways, they tried to debunk the theories with examples and computer programs. The one about the buildings collapsing, to me, wasn't how they should of shown it. It didn't seem like a clear example...

Throw around conspiracy theories. What will it really prove? A bunch of people shooting the shit over how the government is the most corrupt, 'blah blah blah.' 9/11 Brought together this country. It brought people together, something which had been long forgotten. Whether it was a terrorist attack or not. Unity came out of it. Something this country had not seen in a long time.

Is the government behind the car robbery down the street? Of course they are! They knew it would happen! They hired the guy to break into that persons car! Blame the government for everything cause my life isn't fucking perfect.

While I will say anything is possible, I do like to hope for the best too. While it wouldn't surprise me if ANY of these conspiracy theories were true, at the same time, it is hard to believe that humans could be so heartless. It be just down right evil. But I guess humans are capable of great evil (ex. Hitler) just as they're capable of great good (Mother Thereasa).

Unless you were from the Middle East. Or looked like you were. Or spoke with an accent not readily identifiable. Or were Muslim. In which case, you were treated as Asian Americans were after Pearl Harbor (minus the camps). 9/11 brought some people together, it's true, but it also spurred hatred and even physical attacks against American Muslims. I have a Muslim friend who still does not go outside on September 11th unless she absolutely has to, because she's had people publically threaten her and even, on one occasion, follow her home.

Nothing unites a country quite like a common enemy.

Yes, provided that enemy is outside the country. My main problem with what he said (besides my belief that hatred as a method of unification will only lead to problems in the future) was that it "united the country", as though American Muslims are not a part of the country. It united some Americans against other Americans. That's not "uniting a country".

I understand :)

But if you think about it, there's always enemies within the country too. It's not effective unless you can see the enemy, as is the case with racism against Muslim Americans now. It's also not effective if you can't tell if someone is an enemy or not, which is why racial enemies tend to be more common (notwithstanding hippies from the 60's and 70's and homosexuals now).

I lol'd.

Yeah, there was no unity, except for everyone outside of that race. It brought on a lot of racism. ):

Uh, I think it was a lot more then some crazy terrorist attack. Too many coincidences 0:

Here are some of the funny ones that circulated e-mails after the attack.
Quote:
The date of the attack: 9/11 - 9 + 1 + 1 = 11
September 11th is the 254th day of the year: 2 + 5 + 4 = 11
After September 11th there are 111 days left to the end of the year.
119 is the area code to Iraq/Iran. 1 + 1 + 9 = 11
Twin Towers - standing side by side, looks like the number 11
The first plane to hit the towers was Flight 11
State of New York - The 11 State added to the Union
New York City - 11 Letters
Afghanistan - 11 Letters
The Pentagon - 11 Letters
Ramzi Yousef - 11 Letters (convicted or orchestrating the attack on the WTC in 1993)
Flight 11 - 92 on board - 9 + 2 = 11
Flight 77 - 65 on board - 6 + 5 = 11
I was in Jersey at the time of the attack and was staring out of the window ( because my teacher was ranting about something dumb IMO ), and saw a plane getting waaay to close to the WTC. /:

I was in... 8th grade. We had an "unscheduled assembly" in the gym that day. Then we all were sent home.

I remember walking out of the gym, a classmate of mine was all "IT'S TEH KKK I KNEW IT" and I didn't even know how to respond to that, since he was kindof a bigot.

I will say that, looking back at news stories from the time (and namely related Fark threads), the pentagon information really doesn't match up very well.

I'm also curious about WTC building 7 (I had only heard some things in passing, never really researched it myself).

But I don't think it was "OMG THE GUVRMINT."

That said, I'm a natural skeptic, and I don't think all of the information that was disseminated was correct, but I think it's a leap of faith to call it a conspiracy.

If it's not the government, it MUST be the KKK. :sarcasm:

Ha, I would've punched the kid
