It was cute movie and had you laughing all the way through. The snappy animation bothered me a bit in places (seemed a bit over done), but for the most part I though Sony did a pretty good job with everything.

I don't remember the book very well (haven't read it in ages), but I thought the movie was great for kids (and adults). So if you need a movie to make you laugh I'd recommend it.

I know, from another chat site I sit on, some people said they were upset that the movie was different from the book (some went so far as to claim their childhood had been raped... over reaction much? ). But the movie was never meant to be the book, it just had a conceptual basis FROM the book (hence the term based on the book, not "it is the book brought to life" ). You can't ever go into these kind of movies expecting it to be identical. It never will be.

I also heard this movie was good and funny all the way as well. I want to see it.

I agree that these movies won't be identical to the book, especially a kids book which are usually really short so they add more to it. They are always going to add or change something.

I want to see the movie ♥ I'll go see it soon.
It looks really cute and funny. It's not how I remembered the book though.
I remember borrowing the book a few times from the library as a kid. I really liked it.
I suppose it's true though; the movie will never be exactly identical to the book.
Still, I look forward to seeing it ♥ Thanks for your review!

I loved the looks of this movie and it was really crazy and funny! Hee hee I love that Mr. T played the cops voice! I absolutly loved the look of the mive too. It reminded me so much of stop motion animation which is my absolute favorite!
My sister works for the sony animation studio so I'm really glad that this movie did so well. She said if it didn't do good Sony would have closed their animation studio!

@ nette- they've been having issues at Sony. Their animation studio hasn't gotten a name for itself yet so they're have trouble making it pay for itself. They let off a crap load of people during the winter (most of the guys they had taken on from my college the year before were of those fired. I heard a lot of grumbling about it) because of economic reasons.

^ Yeah and it didn't help that Surf's Up didn't do well. It came out at a bad time admidst other Peguin type movies. So it's great to hear that Cloudy is doing so well :)
My sister has been working at Sony for a little over a year. So I wonder if she knew any of those people.

It was a way over kill on penguins, but I thought it was a good movie. Had it been any other animal it probably would have done better. Ah well. Not much you can do on those regards.

I quite fancied seeing that. I am thinking of waiting until its out on DVD so my daughter can watch it, she will be a little older by then, because now she is a little too young to take to the cinema, plus with a DVD we can watch it whenever and over and over again if she decides to play something else.

I heard that it was really cute and pretty good overall. It's not really my kind of movie but I might end up seeing it someday anyway.

@ nette - well of course. Haha. It has to have some adult tones to attract the adults to watch it. Disney does the same things, all the way back to its first movie- Snow White.

I got free tickets awhile back to see the sneak preview of it and I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. The constant 3D thing sort of hurt my eyes a bit after awhile through the movie, but other than that I don't have much to complain about except how hungry it made me just by watching it. I didn't know it was based on a book or that there was a book, but that's sort of cool...I wasn't expecting that.

Also, I thought the characters were so CUTE. If that counts for anything. :P

@Erailea: Thank you for making clear that movies are only BASED on books. Some of my friends are totally hyped up on the whole Twilight thing and are always ranting about how bad the movie was and how it completely ruined the series.

You have to take movies with a grain of salt and let it all go. I think that people would enjoy movies so much more if they actually stopped comparing them to their book counterparts so harshly. Give the directors a break. It is NOT possible to utterly translate a book into a movie, and it NEVER will be. It would take far too long.

I had no idea there was a book >_>
Anyway, I liked it a lot. I thought it was really funny.. when it wasn't making incredibly dark statements about society. Did anyone else think those donuts looked really, really good?

Oh I forgot about it showing in 3D. I saw in in non 3D because it was a bit pricy otherwise.

I was a bit worried it would make me hungry too but I had eaten before I had gone to see the movie.

I don't see how they turned a book that takes 2 minutes to read (if that) and make it into a movie well over 30 minutes. I just don't understand it! I haven't seen it yet, so I'm curious about it, but no one's reccomended it to me so I doubt I'd go.

It was ok.... the animation was a tad weird, and the characters never appealed to me. other than that though, I was ok with it.

lol by adding in things.
I understand what you are getting though. This could have been done as a animated TV short.

Basically they took the concept and expanded on it.

Some movies can do it and still be appealing, others do it and completely screw up.
