Typical of my roleplays, I want you to make a character and toss them in. ^_^ I'm going to ride through this story with the main plot, but go ahead and make your own opening. This little guy's gonna need some people to talk to and mess with (be it good guys or people that hate him or think he's annoying). SO.... enjoy! -Es

Kale stared out at the open sea, his brown eyes full of wonder. He had always loved the never-ending waves, the bright blue of the deep water.
"Rat!" a deep voice called Kale out of his thoughts, making him slip off of the balcony he was sitting on.
"Aye, sir," the boy replied, regaining his footing and scrambling over to stand in front of a large man.
"Why isn't that sail repaired yet, boy?" asked the captain, cuffing the side of the the young man's head.
"I'll get it done, sir," Kale blurted, backing away from the swinging fists as they swung. "I swear!"
Scrambling away from the impending pain, the boy dashed down below deck and fished around for the thick needle and twined thread that he needed to finish his job. It wasn't his fault that the ocean had caught his attention! Maybe if he was given a little bit of free time throughout the day he wouldn't be inclined to daydream so much....

With a loud sigh, the boy found the tools he was looking for. Dragging his feet as he headed back out on deck, Kale decided he would get his job done as quickly as possible. Sewing was a woman's job, but being the "youngest lad" on the ship had made him the victim instead.
Grasping the rough sail, "Rat" set to work with quick hands. The wind tossed wisps of his brown hair about his face despite the black cloth that was tied around his head. No matter what he did, Kale couldn't keep his disobedient locks out of his way! Brushing the strands away from his brown eyes, the cabin boy hurriedly finished stitching.
Cutting the thick thread with his teeth, Kale jumped as a shadow fell upon his lap.

"They still have you doing the women's work, eh Rat?"
Kale waved away the smell of the man's breath, wrinkling his tanned nose. "At least I don't waste my time drinking up the ships store of rum," he replied, gathering the finished sail in his arms. The muscles in the boy's lean arms tightened as he hefted the large bundle up and dropped it next to ropes. With his hands full, he didn't see the fist swinging at the back of his head.
"You worthless scum!" the drunken sailor knocked Kale to the ground, tackling the young man beneath him. "You don't know nothing 'bout nothin'!" A flurry of blows fell upon Kale as the drunk pinned him to the ship's wooden deck.
I can only hope that he gets bored with this, Kale thought, squirming. No one will pull him off unless they are feeling especially kind - and it is rare that anyone helps me out.

Tarra, or how the men on the ship knew her as Tom, opend the door and growled at the two men infront of her. She was teh only women on his damn ship and no one knew. Her green eyes sparkled with anger as she saw the drunk man pinn the cabin boy, she hated people when they where drunk. Even those two didn't know that she was a women and that was how she kept it. She had been on this ship for a few years and the way she kept her secret a secret was that anyone who found out she tossed over board. She may be a girl but she had enough muscle to scare boys and make the others fear her. She wore a bandana over her short brown hair and kicked the drunk man off of him. "GET THE HELL OFF OF HIM YOU DAMN DRUNK." she yelled, her voice just as deep as any other man on the ship. Her clothing was baggy and she was one of the best cooks and fighters they had on the ship. "if you want a fight come after me, the cabin boy is too weak for the likes of you."

The intoxicated man growled at Tom, gnashing his teeth as he turned to glare at "her."
"Stay outta this!" he said loudly, stumbling as he attempted to stand in place.
Kale stood, wiping a bit of blood off of his face before grinning over at Tom. "Ah," he said in a slurred voice, "I woulda taken him down on my own." Just the same, the young man moved away when the drunk staggered toward him. "Then again," Kale said, spitting a bit of blood onto the deck, "maybe I should just let you take him."
The rum-filled brute charged at Kale, yelling in rage.

Tarra smiled as the man charged, "I would gladly, I haven't had a good fight in a while." she siad as she walked towards the charging man. Just as he was about to ram into her she slipped to the side and kneed him in the stomach and elbowed him in the back of the neck, sending him to the ground. "but then again I am not sure if you can call this a fight." she said as she stepped on the mans head with he left leg.

Kale cheered as the drunk was knocked unconscious, and he rushed over to punch Tom in the shoulder. "It was a massacre for me," he said, smiling, "All you did was turn the tides for me. Thank you much."
His brown eyes were filled with relief as he stepped over the sailor to grab his needle and thread from the deck. "Is there anything I can do for you in return?" Rat squinted, his tan face taking on a thoughtful expression. "Mention you to the captain, give you my meal at dinner, anything like that?"
The slender boy stepped on his attacker's back, coming to a stop before Tom.

Tarra smirked, "I dont need anything and the captain doesn't need to know my name. I am just the cook and a fighter, no one special." she said as she looked at him. Then looked at the thread and string, "and you better get back to work before the captain yells at you." she said and wondered if Kale needed any help.

emilie was on her fathers ship she hated doing his bidding but as long as it got her anywere near the ocean she was fine. in the captions room she was working on a map she had been trying to plan when they would land and when she could get away from the crew of dirty men that just grabed her ass every chance even if she punished one the others would just ignore her she had no athority and she hated it she wished she was back in time when her friends had left she wished she was with them but that didnt happen father had different plans for her and the plans offten involved her ass feeling raw for at least a month. she sighed and got up looking around not a soul around so she could change in private so she started to get undressed when the door burst open and the whole crew grabed her she covered herself but it was to late they just wanted to ask her something but now they saw her naked they wanted more "get out before i have to do something to hurt each and everyone of you." they all laughed and she knew why she couldnt take all of them on at once so she just put her shirt back on and slowly backed away to the window and opened it "well its been fun." she looked right next to the window their was a boat were she had placed it for just this type of emergency. she lowered the boat and slowly started to row away from the ship that had been her hell for many months now "well have fun telling daddy what happened sure one of you will survive." she started to laugh.

Kale nodded, looking a bit peeved. "The captain will definitely beat my arse if I don't get all the sails patched up. We'll be hitting rougher weather soon, and we'll need every bit of this ship in good repair."
Saluting sloppily, the cabin boy trotted over to the next large piece of canvas and dug around until he found the tear in it's bulk.
"Just let me know if you ever need something," Rat said, fingering his needle. "I'd be glad to pay ya back later on if-" The tall youth paused, his brown eyes narrowing. Dropping the sail, he shielded his eyes from the sun and looked out to sea. "Do you see that?"
In the distance there was a small boat, slowly drifting on the low-riding waves. A struggling figure on the craft seemed to be rowing steadily, but losing any momentum she had.
Rat dropped everything he was doing to scamper up into the rigging, looking out at the small rowboat. His wisping brown hair blew about his face, and his black bandana slipped from his head.
"Tom, do you see that?" Kale asked, pointing at the boat.

Tarra looked over at where Kale was pointing and saw the boat. "yeah I see it." she yelled back and wondered who would be out in the sea on that small boat. "we better tell the captin to go and see who it is, I dont want whoever is on there to get traped in rought water." she said as she watched the figure move.

Rat nodded, and took off toward the captain's quarters. It was a mere ten seconds later when the leader of the crew stepped out and peered at the small boat in the water.
"Get that boat on deck!" he shouted, and the members on the ship snapped to action.
"Tom!" Kale called, motioning the "man" over. "Mind helping me with these ropes?"

emilie was by this time quite mad at everything at her father for sticking her with a bunch of drunk bastards for the bastards themselves for not being better looking if they were that would have ended way differently and mad at the ocean for being to damn big. she had been away for about three days now just getting more and more upset and decided that if she got out of this alive she would start her life over not as her fathers servent girl but as something better she hadnt decided it was between a mass murderer or start her own religion were she was god she had went quite mad being alone but you couldnt tell she didnt even see the huge ship infront of her she was to consumed by what she should become.

Tarra nodded and walked over and started to help him. As the boat got up onto the ship she could see that the person in the boat was a girl. She looked like she wasn't in the best condition and right when the girl got onboard Tarra took her into her arms and started to check her for any kind of wounds and anything else. "damn looks like she drank the ocean water." she said softly as she looked at the girl. "I will take her to my room and get her to rest." she said, her motherly instincts takeing over.

Kale nodded, and looked to the captain. The man gave his permission to Tom to take the woman - Tom was known for his level-headedness when it came to the "opposite" gender.
"Give her something to eat when you get her settled in," the captain, Demont, said. "She needs a bit of meat on her bones."
The cabin boy slowly ended up following Tom and the new girl, curiousity upon his brow. "What do you think happened to her?" the tan boy whispered as he caught up to the two. "It's not every day that we find a woman in the sea. We rarely find a person, let alone a live one."

Tarra laughed to herself, if only he knew that there was already a girl on the boat. "by the looks of it she has been out on the sea by herself for a while. She will need some clean water, a good hot bowl of soup and some meat. Then she will need some new clothing and a good rest." she said as she cradled the girl in her arms. They soon got to her room and she kicked the door open. Her room was small but it was a good size for her. She then stoped at the door and looked at Kale, "sorry, this is as far as you go boy, I need to get her cleaned up." she said as she looked at him.

emilie was alittle shocked when her boat had been brought up she hadnt really thought about that in her plans for world domantion she thought it was her crew come back for her 'damn didnt think their brains were big enough for this.' she looked around and finally noticed it wasnt her crew but a compleatly different group "well hello people its a meet to pleasure you." she was baiscly being dragged off by another who she thought look strangely lady like for a man "why you being so rough i want to stay and chat." she looked down and finally remembered she handnt been wearing pants "well i guess the cats out of the bag their anyway whats a bunch of people like you doing here or are you just apart of my mind playing tricks on me like last time." she was refering to the island of men she saw that wasnt really their "damn why must i be stuck with men why cant i be stuck with idont know food oh yeah mabye if you are part of my mind i can make you food turn to food." she started to wave her arms around "its not working." once the door was closed she looked at tarra "your turn to turn to be food but first its time for a nap." she looked around and decided she was fine were she was and just lowered her head and fell fast asleep.

Tarra smiled at the girl and stroked her head gently. She always wanted a child of her own but the call to the sea was too powerfull to deny. He then went to her closet and fished out one of her old dresses and layed it down for the girl to wear when she got up. Then went to the kitchen and grabed some food for the lass. When she got back she set the food down on the table for her and started to check her over to make sure that she had no wounds or anything of the sort.

When "Tom" had shooed him off, Kale went to go finish his job, ignoring the murmers from the crew. They weren't crude, but curious. Not one of the men thought wrongly of the new woman, for all of them were fair enough people . . . save the rare few that really were rough-minded sailors. Even with only one woman on the ship, none of the men would bother her - the captain would not allow it.
Kale finished sewing what sails needed it before slipping into the ropes and high areas of the ship. Being in the sky above nothing but water made Rat feel like he was invincible, like nothing could ever happen to him.
Of course, it was only an illusion, but Rat enjoyed it nonetheless. Waiting about in the sails and ropes, Kale finally slid down to deck when the waves began to get a bit choppier. The storm would be upon them by morning, no doubt. Shivering, the dark-skinned teen went below deck to linger about the kitchens. Perhaps Tom would come for more food for the new girl - and have some information with him.
Why had some lady been alone in the ocean? And why hadn't she brought supplies with her to stay alive?
Heh, women can be so silly, Rat thought, readjusting his black scarf about his head to keep his shoulder-length brown hair out of his face. Grabbing a stale chunk of bread, the slender youth settled down in the dining area to wait for Tom and the girl.

Tarra stayed close to the girl amd made sure that every once in a while she gave her some clean water. she needed to get all the sea water out of her and good clean water in her. She then started to think of reasons why the girl would be out in the ocean by herself. Did she secape somewhere, did she run away or soemthing else. she didn't know and would aske questions later when the girl woke up and was feeling better.

emilie was half asleep she knew enough to keep a eye open for her own saftey and right now everyone was out to get her. when toms back was turned she looked around slowly she noticed things about this person like how he had dresses in his closet and unless she was mistaken not many men had dresses unless they were alittle bit different. she got up and streched and yawned she hadnt slept in what felt like forever and now that she was alittle bit back to normal she looked at tom "well are you just going to stand their hun or are you going to tell me your name or should i start guessing it one thing i was never to good at guessing games father always said i didnt have much going on between the shoulders." she laughed at herself then remembered what happend "well damn i forgot to take some maps oh well i remember most of them to remake them or at least half of them the other half i guess will be a surprise."

Tarra laughed at the girl and got the soup. She then clared her thought and made it the usual girly voice that she hardly ever used on the ship. "My name is Tarra but everyone else knows me as Tom." she said and relazed more. It was great to have another women on the ship. She sat down next to the girl and handed her the soup. "now tell me what in gods name where you doing out in the ocean without food or water? That is a stupid move and you nearly killed yoruself. Now eat." she said as she looked at her.

emilie sighed the bigest sigh of happiness "oh thank god with that dress in your closet i figured you were either weird or a woman and i was thinking more of the weird thing to tell the truth." she slapped her forhead "oh how rude of me my name is emilie expert map maker and basicly their personal slave for my former ship the maine and how i got here is by being the only girl with a handfull of filthy men who had the choice of working for my father or death so i got here by the skin of my teeth i was lucky i got out with a shirt let alone anything like water and noo i didnt drink the water or anything stupid like that i fell in acouple of times and must of drank enough water that way." she took in a deep breath and then continued "so you were smart enough to dress like a man unlike me who got a pin cushin ass every day lucky you so what do you do around here for fun besides drinking i think i have had enough craziness for one lifetime."

Tarra laughed and handed the girl some meat. "trust me, I don't drink. I learnd that if your a girl dressed like a man being drunk isn't a good idea because there is a good chance that they will find out your secret. But I have been on the ocean long enought to know many secrets." she said as she smiled at the girl. "but my job here is to cook for everyone, they say I am the bed cook they have found anywhere and I also know a thing for two about fighting." she said and leand back "but by the way you describe your old boat and crew they where crap, I am glad that you got away. But here on this ship if you stick close to me the men will leave you alone, they know that I can kick them off this boat if I want too." she said happly.
