Yeah, I would imagine
You have more emotional ties with it
I couldn't even imagine how that would be! And I certainly hope I never do. D:

I've very glad that I dont
If something like that were to happen to my family, we'd have no where to go and nothing left. :/

That happened to a lot of people here. And even now, some families STILL don't have anywhere to go but evacuation places or the slums. =( </3

True. :x And yet you know that it's inevitable. =\ The Earth is fickle like that. ^^;;

I hate it though when people think they can control the Earth. :x I mean, I understand why, since you wanna prevent natural disasters and stuff, but I don't think we're meant to be above it and control it at all. =\

I totally agree
Its not that do-able. Its better to find out what is happening and get away from it, rather then try to control it

I wouldn't say get away from it exactly. More like accept it and adapt to it. xDD;; <3<3

Oh, I mean the disasters. ><;;
Better to flee from a volcano or bad earthquake then be caught in it

I meant the same thing. xDD;; If you live near a volcano, you should develop the warning signals so that people are prepared. With earthquakes, always make sure that you have something to hide under or whatever. And governments should have funds stored away for natural disasters. That's what I meant when I said that we should adapt to them. xDD;;

Well, they can still destroy so much that even if you're in the area you can get hurt
But you do have a good point. It'd be good for everyone to adapt better ways of coping

I didn't say that adapting will solve everything. Inevitably we shall always get affected. But yeah, as you said, better to be able to cope more, right? XP <3<3

Yeah, definently. Its good to be prepared so that there is less damage, then things wouldn't be quite as bad.

Exactly!
I got so peeved the other day because my friend was telling me how her class was having an online debate, and it was about what we should do about endangered animals, and there were actually people saying that "God put them on the earth as resources for us, so we can just kill them all because thats all they're here for. It doesn't matter if some die off, because thats what God wanted us to do." and crap all like that and what not.
Her and I are both strongly atheist (the friend that was telling me this) and we're both very pro-enviornment, and I am very passionate about endangered animals.

Oh wow. o_O;; Was it really said like that? Cause if it was said exactly like that, then that's not the right way to phrase it. =\ I can see where they're coming from, but wow, what a crude way of saying it. xDD;;

Also, being a Roman Catholic, Christianity does say that man is the caretaker of the environment, and that he is "above" it because man is created in His image and likeness. But, ermm, that does not directly imply that God wants us to kill animals, lulz. xDD;;

Yeah that's a little dumb.
It sounds like some little boys and girls tried to be vegetarians and then their parents told them, "No God put them on the earth for us to use, and so we will eat them."

That was the concept they were saying. I can understand what some of it was meant to be as, but they were saying it as they're only here for us to kill, so it doesn't matter if we kill them or if some of them go extinct because we have more.
So narrowminded.

Yeah, I know what some people belive about it and how humans are all superior over everything, but I still feel that that is so messed up. lol
