For some reason, I'm always way to early with my event avatars. So when the actual event starts, I'm already tired of them >.<

i voted! good luck everyone
@Rylynne: you dont celebrate St. Patties? where do you live? everyone here celebrates it because it is a national day of getting drunk and pretending like your Irish even though you dont know anything about Ireland, and probably couldnt even point it out on a map. (hates stupid people who cant point out well known countries on a map) thats kinda awesome that where you live people dont just use any excuse to start drinking at noon. im impressed.

@ BSW - Its not a holiday that is celebrate all around the world. I dont think it really has to do anything with people not wanting to get drunk so they dont celebrate it in their country. And just because it is celebrated here in the US does not mean that all it is meant for is people getting drunk.
I myself dont drink at all, and still love St. Patrick's Day. :<
I am a quarter Irish, and proud of it. My mother is half and my grandma is full.

Yeah, no offense but it's kindof ignorant to assume that because you celebrate a holiday, that everyone else does too.
^^; That said, I live in the US and I don't celebrate it at all.
Never have, never will.
I'm not Irish, I don't like getting drunk (buzzed is another story, I love that).
But the holiday isn't about getting drunk, that's absolutely NOT the point of it.
The fact people assume that that's what it is, is really dumb.
It's supposed to be a holiday celebrating pride of being Irish, not perpetuating the stereotype that they are all drunks.

I'm a bit of both, side-wise. I admit, people annoy me where I live. They drink like MAD on St. Patrick's Day, but then again, they also drink like crazy on Halloween, or any other holiday, too. It's just more in the spotlight on St Pat's.
My father's side of the family is from Ireland, so I've had quite a bit of alcohol running through my father's side, but I never plan to drink. xD
-Teetotaller-
Eep, I hope that made some sort of sense. It's been a slow weekend.

My parents both drink heavily and always have. They wont ever stop, i'm sure. But its not due to being Irish (since my dad isn't at all anyway). And I have Irish in me and have no plans to ever take up drinking. I think its a disgusting and unhealthy habit that brings nothing but idiocy and trouble.
But for St. Patrick's Day I wear green and have fun with my family or friends. We just hang out. And then I enjoy a nice dinner of Corned Beef and Cabbage with my parents.
I look forward to the Holiday, personally. But I am finding it harder and harder to find any good shirts for it. This time at WalMart the shirts were pretty much just all alcohol shirts and then there were none even in the girls section. I found one that has a green rainbow and says "Lucky," though. Haha. And some Scooby Doo boxers. Was pretty awesome. 8D;;
But the holiday is given its reputation because alcohol companys advertise it like crazy, and i'm sure thats a time of the year when they make a lot of money. And people just love to give themselves an excuse to go get shit-faced so that they can tell themselves it was for a reason. Dont you know its so much better to get wasted if you have such a good reason as St. Patricks Day?

Uh, she was, she's actually passed now.
BSW - Well, you acted extremely surprised to Ryl's not celebrating it. It's only in the US, and there are billions of people /not/ in the US.
And you also assumed that the meaning for the holiday was just to drink.
So, idk.
Whatever.

Corned beef is good, but the cabbage that goes along with it -- :talk2hand:.
I've never much cared for the celebration of St. Patrick's Day. When I was younger (aka in college) and more able to drink, we'd have St. Patrick's Day celebrations -- lots of whiskey was involved. But now that I'm older, I really don't want to go out and deal with drunkards running around in the streets. NO THANKS!

It gets dangerous in the downtown area of the town over from us. I mean, it gets seriously out of hand! You dont want to be there on St. Patty's night.
They have a little pub there that everyone goes for that night, and there are plenty other bars in the downtown area, but they're all over the place. And the're stupid college students that are so snockered that they dont even know which way is which.
lol I dont mind cabbage. :3
So I adore corned beef and cabbage. I totally think everyone should try it at least once in their life. Its so easy to make, too.
